Shortly after my positive update, Daphne took a turn for the worse. I called the ENT who suggested going to the ER. I took her to her Ped first, and she was diagnosed as moderately dehydrated (sunken eyes, not peeing, etc..) plus she had lost a few pounds. We were then sent over to the hospital for IV fluids. Fortunately a friend was able to take the boys until Zac could pick them up after work. Daphne ended up receiving two doses of IV fluids along with a medicine they call "Miles Magic" which is Lidocaine mixed with Maalox. It numbs the mouth and throat so she doesn't feel the pain. The trick is to swish it and get it far enough back and then spit it out. They use this with cancer patients and one of the residents thought it might be good for Daphne due to her surgery. After using Miles Magic she drank 1/2 a cup of apple juice. We were discharged 6+ hrs later from the hospital and allowed to return home. Last night was another tough night. She was up quite a bit and not feeling well. This morning she has managed a couple bites of icecream and several sips of lemonade. The Drs. said if she has to come back they will admit her and keep her on the IV fluids around the clock. We are trying to keep that from happening. Please keep her in your prayers.
