Catherine Love ~ from my heart and home~

Nov. 10, 2006

It's been forever.....

since I've posted here :( ...  life has been a bit crazy.

Computer crashed first of all.  Makes blogging a bit tricky!

I now have a "new to me" very used pc until sometime early next year.  I'm blessed to be able to use this one until then.  Using the library computers was not fun!  Yet, this thing is so outdated, I can't use my printer .  This is very sad, because I have 3 e-books by Cindy Rushton that I'm dying to print stuff from!  I need my Brain in a Binder!!!

Homeschool is moving along nicely.  Reading has recently "clicked" with Sarah.  Now I frequently find her reading to her younger sisters!  Yea!!!

We still have those bad, terrible "I HATE MATH" days, but things are improving there, too.

The little girls (4&5) are learning so much just by listening to Sarah's lessons, playing and asking 13,000 questions per day, that I'm not doing anything "formal" with them.  Sarah has taught them most of the letter sounds playing "school"  .  They've learned lots of the math facts this way, too.  Now, if she'd just teach them to clean up after themselves......

We're soon going to be making yet another "change".  Our lease on our "Urban Homestead" apartment will be up in 3 months.  90 days......not long to find a new homestead and get moved.  We are ready, and just waiting on the Lord to show us where to go, and how to get there!  We're praying that it is to the country; but are committed to doing His will, not ours.

OK, that's a bit of an update on the Love Family School for Girls.....

It's Friday, which means Poetry, Music, Artist, Crafts, and just fun stuff today!  Read alouds are fun, any day.

The Burgess Book of Nature Lore is the current favorite around here.

Blessings,

Catherine

Strange Things Heard at our House

Kids do say the strangest things, and mine are definitely no exception.  This latest oddity comes from my littlest Love, Cana who is 4.  She's the clown, the one who does things like wink at total strangers and dip her hair in her milk.

Last night she was sitting on the living room floor with her piggy bank, taking out the coins and lining them up.  When I said something to her about how much money she had, she showed me 3 dimes in her hand and said, "I only have 3 of these.  They all have "mans" on them, because you can't buy things with ladies heads."

Little Things and Big Things

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

                               - Robert Brault

This reminds me of some of the little things that I've noticed in our family lately:

Little sister (4) brushing big sister's hair (8) last evening while their dad read to them.

The 2 little girls (4 & 5) almost always hold hands and walk together when we go out.

Big sister (8) gets up early, early in the a.m. to hug and kiss Daddy good-bye when he leaves for work.

Middle sister always lets her sisters go first, whether it's snack-time, bath-time, or giving us a hug at bedtime.  She always wants others to go ahead of her, and makes sure that if you give her something- the other 2 get some too.

Big sister helping middle sister learn to swim and being the first one to assist her when she yells for help.

I'm wondering if any of these things would be happening if my girls weren't home together each day, living and learning together.  Growing together.  None of these things are things that the world would call important.     But I think they may just somehow be the "big things", the things that are really important.

She's Definitely My Child!

My middlest dd, Hannah Marie just bounced into the room and asked, "Mom, can we have some ice cream on our chocolate???"

Oh, a girl after my own heart!  Can you tell it's snack-time? Think I'll join them for a bit of chocolate with ice cream topping

Anyone else want some???
