Books and Brownies

this and that

Two days ago I was sitting by the window when my husband pulled into the driveway.  Ryan, our 3 year old, was watching TV.  I called to him and said, "Daddy ist zu Hause" (Daddy is at home).  I had never used this expression before with him.  He thought for a second and then replied, "Where?"

I just thought that was so neat!  And again, my husband used German with one of the babies - he said, "Wunderbar!"

Again, this just confirms my main educational theory - when people see you doing something interesting, they will want to join you and learn from it.  If you try to make them learn something, even if it is interesting, they resist.  Why are we so contrary?

I think when we decided that I would work using my languages, we really revolutionized and reenergized our family.  Everybody is happier, I think, and looking forward to good things to come.  Today I signed my contract with the charter school to teach Spanish 1 and 2 next year.  That should be very interesting indeed!

It's awesome to read how your doing what you love, using your God-given gifts, has benefitted your family.

My two most beloved things are books and brownies! Join me here for book reviews and comments about homeschooling my 6 children still at home (ages 13 to 1). We've been homeschooling since 1997, and my oldest son is in college. I also muse about my own language studies and my attempts to make my children bilingual. Thanks for stopping by!
