little eyes

My 6 year old has been struggling with school for some time. I know she is smart and she has a really great memory. She memorizes songs and things we say, and of course commercials. Yet, at school she just has such a hard time. So I have an eye appointment for her on the 11th. I can't wait to see if that is what is wrong. I know it sounds strange, but I really hope it is the problem. I just think it would be so simple to get her some little glasses and that would solve everything. I don't know yet, but I did answer a few questions on a pamphlet and she did have some of the symptoms like rubbing her eyes while reading, getting head aches while reading, and getting tiered while reading. So, it is a little ways off but I have some high hopes for getting some answers.

I still have a shiny sink

I haven't done everything exactly by the books. I am only a 4 day old flybaby, but I have been doing all I can to keep my house clean. It is really just a matter of putting things away when you are done, not leaving the kitchen a mess and wiping down my bathroom when I am done. I also have a problem with "hot spots" so I have just been not putting stuff there, putting it away instead. I want to get more familiar with the whole flylady program, but so far I am really happy with it. I picked up her book "Sink Reflections" at the library. I've read the first chapter or so. It is pretty good!

What is this flylady thing all about

I have been hearing/reading about flylady for the last couple of months. Finally a friend of mine was talking about it at a kid's birthday party. So I decided to check it out. I am totally pumped!!! I shined my sink!!! I am totally stoked about getting my house together!!! Go to flylady.com and shine your sink!

school is great; pregnancy stincks

Every pregnancy I have had has been so wonderful. From what I remember any way. I think God must give us some sort of ability to forget things about pregnancy and childbirth. I sure don't remember it being this hard last time. I had to quit teaching this morning to lay down. I don't ever do that. Then I had to take my six year old to the Dr. to look at her ear....so we didn't get done with school till 3:00! At which point my father in law came over so his dogs could play with my dogs.....so all I got done was school and dinner! I hate that. I just want to feel good again. I want to not be tiered, not have heart burn, not throw up. I want to be able to finish a meal with out getting sick for some reason or another. I am really glad that this is my last pregnancy and not my first. There is no way I would do it again if it was my first. School on the other hand is doing just great. My oldest is really working hard. She has so much to get done in a day. I am so proud of her. My little 1st grader read 5 words today with no problem. I know that is nothing for most kids, but she really struggles with reading. She is really learning and I am so proud of her. I need to spend more time with the littlest one at school. She learns a lot from being in the room while we are doing lessons. I asked her a few questions tonight from a music lesson we had done today. She knew the answers. So I know she is getting it. Maybe tomorrow won't be so yucky!

no time to blog

Wow. Since starting school a week ago yesterday... my bathrooms are a mess, the laundry is already backed up, I need to clean the stove and I have had no time to blog! My oldest got invited to her first birthday party of the school year. (Those poor unsocialized home school kids. They just don't get enough time with other kids.) I am just thinking this is only the beginning. Since she is a mini cheer leader this year and there are 6 other girls... that is at least 6 parties just from that group of kids!!! Those are going to multiply I am sure as they start PE, art and AWANA. My middle daughter who is in 1st grade and totally struggles with reading is doing a fabulous job!!! I am so proud of her. She is going to be reading by Christmas, I just know it. Her Kindergarten teacher last year can take her ADD assessment and "red flags for learning disabilities" and shove them up her nose. All the kid needs is some serious discipline in the class room and a little different teaching approach and guess what? She is fine. Oh and the baby wrote her name!!!! Yeah.

Ahhh my poor nephew....

Thanks for all the sweet comments.

My brother, Duane, and his wife (mainly his wife) are having a baby boy the end of December.  They have a 6 year old little girl.  So with my four girls that makes his son the only boy of the six cousins.  I think he is a little bummed.

Sorry Duane, I can't say I'd change it if I could.  But I do feel a little sorry for your kid!  He'll make it though.  He'll be have to be extra tough to put up with all our crazy girls!

sonogram results

Our fourth baby girl looked absolutely perfect in her sonongram today!  She had a perfect head, perfect heart, perfect legs and arms, a perfect little tummy and all the other required parts.  I am so excited to have another baby girl.  I am just so happy and I can't wait to see her little face for the first time.

for Duane

two strawberry pop tarts and a glass of milk

For some reason I find great pleasure in posting my breakfast.

Here's the story.  When I told my brother I had a blog he said "so you write about stuff like what you had for breakfast?"

I told him I had real stuff to blog about.

Turns out blogging about my breakfast is really funny!  I love it when he tells me what he had.  So what did you have for breakfast today?

first day of school

The cutest thing in the world happened Tuesday morning.  I woke at 6:45 knowing that I had to get the kids up by 7:15.  At about 7:00 my 8 year old, who would sleep all day if she was given the opportunity, emerged into my bathroom looking for a hairbrush.  She was totally dressed, had dressed her little sister, the middle one, and was about to about to make breakfast for the two of them.  I finished getting ready and went down stairs to see them happily eating breakfast.  I told them  "you know this is homeschool right?  You aren't going any where."  They both said they were just so excited to get started.  I thought that was so sweet.  So, then the little one got up and couldn't get dressed fast enough.  She was so ready to be a preschooler.  I just love homeschooling so much.  We have such a fabulous time together.  They work so hard and seem to have such a desire to learn.  I am so blessed to be home teaching them.

confession

I haven't to my husband this yet, but today when I was backing out of the garage I hit the passenger mirror on the side of the garage.  Like, it almost ripped it off.  I got out and fixed it down in it's place.  The motor in the mirror still works.  It is pretty banged up.  He isn't going to be too happy with me.  I was in a hurry.  ERRRG  I hate it when stuff like that happens.

Ready to start school

I am so excited.  I have spent the entire day catching up on groceries, the house and getting ready to start school tomorrow. I will have a pre-schooler, 1st grader and 3rd grader.  We got all the girls supplies.  They love to do that so much.  It really cracked me up because my 1st grader was really kind of eclectic on what she chose for her folders and binder.  She totally based it on what was pretty.  My 3rd grader chose a theme and got every thing just the same so that it flows nicely.  It is all a set.  The little one fell in love with one of those Lisa Frank brightly colored binders.  She didn't really need it and I didn't have it on her list, but she was hugging it and saying "it is so beautiful."  I had to get it for her.
I spent the evening laminating.  Truly one of my favorite activities.  I have one of those personal laminating machines.  It was a fabulous investment.  I don't have to run to the printing or teacher supply store to laminate every little thing that I make.  I love our class room.  Our basement is dedicated to school.  The kids can play down there but I keep all their toys in the storage room so they have to ask what they can get out.  It really cuts down on the messes.
So what I am most nervous about is spreading my time across each girl.  I hope I can get the schedule just right so that one isn't getting board while I am working with someone else.
Cheer leading also starts tomorrow.  So we get to get back into the swing of things right away.  I will let you know how my first day teaching all three goes.

Back from Dallas

Wow!!!  We just spent two weeks in Dallas TX!  My honey mostly worked, it was a business trip.  The girls and I went all over the city.  We played with cousins, shopped, swam, roller skated and shopped some more.  I even got to go to a Rangers game with my brother who lives in Louisiana.  He came to see the game and I went to see him.  Friday night I went  to the Mary Kay awards night and see my mother in law on stage as the #17 director in her whole devision.  Which is really big.  She won a trip.
I had to work a couple of days at the trade show my husband was there for.  I am just not cut out for a job.  The girls had a nanny for the first time ever while I was working.  That went well, it was very strange because I got her from a service.  I was very blessed to have such a wonderful girl come to watch the kids.
We were so ready to come home.
So back to life as normal!  School starts Tuesday.

Fish Baby, Brave Girl and Miss Independant

We have spent a lot of time at the pool this summer.  My youngest daughter has only had swimming lessons one time last summer and she can really swim.  She does such a great job.  It is so funny to watch such a little person swimming.  She isn't very confident in deeper water, but in the shallow end she swims under water about 6-8 feet at a time.  She is only four years old.  I am just so surprised by it.
My middle daughter got in line to go down the water slide again today.  I was really proud of her after the rescuing incident earlier this summer.  She was very brave, but not yet tall enough to go down this particular slide.
My oldest of course just likes to express her independence at the pool.  She likes to go off from me.  To ride the lazy river without my supervision.  It is very difficult because as a safety issue, I need to know where she is.  That is such a challenge with her all the time.  Not just there.  She thinks she is a little grown up and can do what ever she pleases.
Just another day trying to keep these kids happy over the summer.  Boy am I ready to start school.  Just a couple more weeks.  When we get home from our next and last trip this summer and we can get back to business.

Happy Birthday

I just have to say Happy Birthday to my honey!!!  He is 34 today!!  He had to take an out of town business trip, but he will get to visit some extended family while he is gone.  So, if you happen to read this baby, happy birthday.  You are absolutely the best husband a girl could have.  You are so supportive and such a fabulous provider!!!  Not to mention what a wonderful daddy you are.  I couldn't ask for more!

spider in my bed

I can't believe I forgot to blog this!

OK Thursday night I was sleeping, just normal.  Actually it was 5:00 Friday morning.  So, I feel something on me and I grab at it and jump up, turn on the light and see nothing.  As soon as I am awake I have to go to the restroom so bad I can barely stand there so I went straight to the potty.  As I was in there I was thinking "I felt something.  I know I grabbed something"  So I went back in our room.  Turned on my lamp and started moving stuff around.  There under my pillow was a huge brown recluse!!!  I know we've had those before so I wasn't shocked at what kind of spider it was.  BUT IT WAS ON ME!!!  IN MY BED!!!!  Needless to say... I've had the heeby geebies for the last several days!!!!
