Ramblings from a mom, missionary, homeschooler,.........

Oct. 3, 2007 - Week 8-winter promise

With our new schedule, we do all the WP stuff on Mondays, so i can report on our "completed" week before we leave tomorrow.  This week we had fun creating clouds and watching it rain.  Such a simple experiement and they really enjoyed it.  Put 2 inches of hot water in a jar.  in a ziplock put ice cubes and then attached it in the neck of the jar with rubber bands.  Voila!  in about 10 minutes you have clouds and rain.

Mickey has officially finished Before Five in a Row.  Some of the last stories were actually bit too young for him, but we enjoyed them.  We are flying through the books in Journeys of Imaginations as well.  We never just sit and do one day's lesson.  It seems like we complete a week's worth of work every time before he is satisfied. At this rate, we'll be done by Christmas.  He still has Rod and Staff workbooks to complete as his fine moter skills slow those books down.  In all seriousness, he told me last night that his computer password was "wprng".  He spelled it out nice and slow for me twice!

Tomorrow we fly.  Should be a short, easy flight.

Nobody has bid on Chelsea's ebay item yet.  She makes me check almost every hour!

Wow, ALL of WP on Monday? If we boogie hard, we can get a week's worth of WP done in 2.5 days. We are finishing up week 3 (without science) of American Story 1. So far I am really impressed with the curriculum. Customer service? NOT impressed, disappointed actually. But the program itself is great fun!

That sounds like a fun science project. I will have to try that. Have a safe flight.

Oct. 12, 2007 - Imagine book contest

Posted by Patricia Bennett Wilsoon

Hello Alissa,

Thank you for joining Tia's blog and entering the contest! I am the author of the book in the contest....I Can't See, But...I Can Imagine.

I feel this book is a great fit for home schoolers. In addition being wholesome, it helps children to read, consider their own roots and understand that a person with a handicap can have a rewarding life. After the story is over the CD has the original sound tracts without the vocal, so it could very easily be used for home school sing-along music projects.

I Can't See, But...I Can Imagine is not a Christian book per sea (with scripture) but it has a Christian flavor. There is a lesson about forgiveness and a mention of heaven. My goal for the book, as a Christian myself, is to plant a Christian seed in the secular market.

I admire you home school teachers! There are so many problems in the public schools today. It is nice to know there are people like you are willing to take the time to see that your children get a good education in a good environment.

Again, thanks for visiting Tia's blog.

Blessings!
