Greetings to all!  We were out of town to celebrate Garland and Verna Dean Cottrell's 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Verna Dean is Dixie's sister who lives in Bonneville, Kentucky.  We had a good trip up; the celebration was held at the Whistle Stop in Glendale.  It literally is a whistle stop.  The restaurant is about 50 feet from the track.  Trains frequently (about 20 a day) come by and there is a lot of noise when it goes thru!  The meal was excellent, the celebration lovely.  Their 15 grandchildren were present. They gave them a hand print quilt and they sang a song "Over the river, up the hill, through the woods to grandma’s house." It was wonderful and I'm sure they had a great time.

Saturday Ma Hornback, Dixie and I went to Hodgenville about 10 miles away to the auction of the home and all the household items and jewelry of one of Dixie’s aunts.  It was pretty cold, we didn't stay long.  We then went to Elizabethtown to the Lowes store where we looked at doors.  Ma is wanting a new front door. She did not make a choice yet.  I purchased a holder for Ma's shower head and installed it for her when we got back home.

We visited with Gwen Hornback, Dixie’s sister-in-law who runs an antique shop in Sonora, “This Old Attic”. Legend says it was a hospital in the Civil War. It looks pretty old. Sonora is also the home of Carl Brashear the first black diver in the US Navy.  A movie was made about his life. Men of Honor

Ma Hornback wanted us to stay longer, but knowing that the rain was moving in, that the Sunday after Thanksgiving traffic would be heavy in the Nashville area, I decided we needed to move on.  We returned to Decatur Saturday evening.  We got up this morning and headed for Crosspoint church where we heard an inspiring message by Jack Alford

Don't forget, pray for our servicemen.  Send them a Christmas Card.

Home this afternoon, record the message and upload to the internet.  Now, its time for my nap.

More later.

I love antique shops! I was thinking about adding the pray-it-say-it to the military blog. What do you think?
