David had a real good message today. Visit the Crosspoint link below.

"What does it mean to store up your treasure in heaven? "20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Matthew 13:44
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field."

January 8

Though the War of 1812 had ended two weeks earlier, news had not yet reach New Orleans and on this day, January 8, 1815, five thousand British soldiers charged in a frontal assault against General Andrew Jackson's Tennessee and Kentucky sharpshooters.

French pirate Jean Lafitte and his men aided the Americans.

In just a half-hour, over two thousand British were killed and only 8 Americans.

General Jackson wrote:

"It appears that the unerring hand of Providence shielded my men from the shower of balls, bombs, and rockets, when every ball and bomb from our guns carried with them a mission of death."

American Minute with Bill Federer

December 18

"Hark the herald angels sing was a popular carol written by Charles Wesley, born this day, December 18, 1707, at Epworth, England.

He was the youngest son and 18th child of Rev. Samuel and Susanna Wesley.

Excelling in school, Charles came to the attention of Garret Wesley, or Wellesley, a Member of Parliament with a large fortune in Daugan, Ireland.

Having no child, he offering to adopt Charles as his heir, but Charles declined.

After graduating from Oxford, Charles sailed to the colony of Georgia with his brother, John, who served as the colony's Anglican minister.

Charles was secretary to the colony's founder, General James Oglethorpe.

Their desire to minister to the Indians never materialize so they returned to England where their preaching started the Great Awakening Revival.

John founded the Methodist Church and Charles wrote over 6,000 hymns.

In 1753, around the time 21-year-old George Washington was fighting in the French and Indian War, Charles Wesley penned the famous words:

"Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to the new-born King, Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled.

Joyful all ye nations rise, Join the triumph of the skies; With th' angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem."

We got up this morning and headed for Crosspoint church where we heard an inspiring message by David

Home this afternoon, record the message and upload to the internet.

This afternoon we went to Austin High School to hear our granddaughter Michelle play in the Cedar Ridge School Band.  It was wonderful times seeing all the kids perform.
This evening we went to Austinville United Methodist church fellowship hall for our annual Crosspoint Christmas dinner.  It was a fantastic evening of ham, turkey, dressings, potatoes, sweet potatoes casseroles, macaronis, salads, cakes pies and fellowship.  My favorites of course were Dana’s potato salad and Ms. Dixie’s Cranberry salad. Well over 100 people attended and a great time was had by all.  Thanks Dana for coordinating the event. Great job!

Don't forget, pray for our servicemen.  Send them a Card.

God Bless you and yours.  Don’t forget – It’s Merry Christmasnot Happy Holidays!

Greetings to all!  We were out of town to celebrate Garland and Verna Dean Cottrell's 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Verna Dean is Dixie's sister who lives in Bonneville, Kentucky.  We had a good trip up; the celebration was held at the Whistle Stop in Glendale.  It literally is a whistle stop.  The restaurant is about 50 feet from the track.  Trains frequently (about 20 a day) come by and there is a lot of noise when it goes thru!  The meal was excellent, the celebration lovely.  Their 15 grandchildren were present. They gave them a hand print quilt and they sang a song "Over the river, up the hill, through the woods to grandma’s house." It was wonderful and I'm sure they had a great time.

Saturday Ma Hornback, Dixie and I went to Hodgenville about 10 miles away to the auction of the home and all the household items and jewelry of one of Dixie’s aunts.  It was pretty cold, we didn't stay long.  We then went to Elizabethtown to the Lowes store where we looked at doors.  Ma is wanting a new front door. She did not make a choice yet.  I purchased a holder for Ma's shower head and installed it for her when we got back home.

We visited with Gwen Hornback, Dixie’s sister-in-law who runs an antique shop in Sonora, “This Old Attic”. Legend says it was a hospital in the Civil War. It looks pretty old. Sonora is also the home of Carl Brashear the first black diver in the US Navy.  A movie was made about his life. Men of Honor

Ma Hornback wanted us to stay longer, but knowing that the rain was moving in, that the Sunday after Thanksgiving traffic would be heavy in the Nashville area, I decided we needed to move on.  We returned to Decatur Saturday evening.  We got up this morning and headed for Crosspoint church where we heard an inspiring message by Jack Alford

Don't forget, pray for our servicemen.  Send them a Christmas Card.

Home this afternoon, record the message and upload to the internet.  Now, its time for my nap.

More later.

I praise the Lord for a wonderful church service at Crosspoint.  David had a great message regarding the church's responsibility to bring the gospel message about Jesus to those who have not heard or do not believe. I have the special privilege to record it for the web and make CD's for those who would like a copy. You may hear it here:  http://www.crosspt.cc/av/ You may download in 3 different formats .rm .ram or .mp3.  This means that you may listen at home or record it to a CD or MP3 and take it with you.  Our Worship

Guide looks like this.
