Well my oldest participates in a homeschool fair every year. (She is the only one old enough to join in yet) It is a science, history, art, needle and thread fair all rolled up in one. We are hoping to enter 3 projects this year. Her projects will be a science: life cycle of the butterfly, photography, and sewing a quilt. And, I hope to document the things on here.
This is my oldest, my third grader: (she had to get glasses the week of Christmas, so I wanted to include a pic of her new look ;0)
Today we received the test subject for our science project.....

There was so much excitement over this box in my house today. Inside the above box was......

Another box, ha
Inside the above box was the real treasure.....

6 live catepillars.
I have ALWAYS wanted to do this. We are doing Apologia Zoology 1: Flying Creatures this school year. Perfect timing!!! We are going to take pics everyday and document the life cycle for our project. I will post often on these little babies...so you can share with your kids. Learning via blogs.....ahhhh....a great idea, huh?
We found lots of info on this site: http://www.thebutterflysite.com/ Here is their activity page. We bought our catepillars from this site. (All the sites are linked by the first) Also here is a site for life cycle info as well.
Happy learning.
Be blessed,
Chasity

Hey Chasity!
Your dd looks so cute with her glasses on!
Yes, I'm still doing p3/4 with Josiah, although not as planned. I just could not squeeze in the time during the week. So on Fridays while the oldest 4 are at co-op, I do school with Josiah. He does good keeping himself busy during the school week and on Fridays, we cuddle up & do a week's worth of reading. It doesn't take long. We read Go Dog, Go every week. LOL! That's his favorite.
We are enjoying it!
And next year, we're ALL going back to Sonlight! I will be doing 3 cores! Yikes!

Hey Chasity!
We're going to be doing core 3 too! I'm doing this one with Gabe & Gracie, core 7 with Alek (all by his lonesome!) and core K with Josiah & Millie. I'm going to adapt K a little more to our liking. :)
I'm excited to be going back to Sonlight but wondering when I'll fit all of the reading in! LOL!
Love, Alyssa

Awe your dd looks fabulous in her new glasses!
We love doing butterflies! We actually started our wildflower garden so we could properly feed our catapillars. It is so much fun!
enchanted learning has a great print out that she can use as a display for her board. My husband enlarged each of the stages. I can send them to you ( email ) if you like. Have her take lots of photos along the way. Enjoy!!!

I'm afraid those little critters would be frozen solid if they were mailed here this time of year! My friend got a snow globe in the mail yesterday, you know the big kind. It was frozen solid!
