Vacation 09

Seasoned on Sep. 27, 2009 at 4:50 PM Shared In Homeschooling

Recently we went on vacation. We had planned a vacation last year, although the final destination and plans changed, we had a great time. We needed a closer more affordable vacation this year. Well, we are blessed to be about 4 hours from the BEAUTIFUL Gulf coast. In this family you do not have to twist our arms to go to the beach, it is our fav place. We found a great place to stay that was affordable and had a kitchen. I was able to cook most of our meals. We did eat out a few times, which was a great treat. Our hotel was only minutes from the sand and had a great pool. This vacation was for pure relaxation, no more, no less.

Here is a slide of our time there:

Each time we go on vacation, I try to plan an educational fieldtrip. This year my oldest is doing Apologia Zoology 2: The Swimming creatures. I am also teaching my preschoolers about marine life. We found the perfect place for our fieldtrip.

Gulfarium in Fort Walton, FL

We love all the special moments and memories made on family vacations.

Be blessed,

Chasity

Oh, what fun, Chasity!!! How beautiful the beach and ocean are - I love the photo of just the ocean/beach, with the storm clouds above. The kids look like they were having so much fun - don't you just love little trips like that?

Thanks for sharing!!! ((HUGS))

Oh what fun you had!!!!! I just love listening to the waves and looking out onto the horizon. We do live 45 min from the beach but rarely get there. Hubby cannot walk on the beach...we use to go all the time.
And the aquairium is awesome!!!! Cute critters.

Hey Chasity,

Love the pictures! It's been a while since we've been to FL (we go on the Atlantic side, to Vero Beach). I miss it! One year we called the nearby Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (near to our Vero Beach place, not our home here in IL!) prior to a trip down to FL...they had a homeschool class going on for 6 weeks (once a week), and we were going to be down there during one of the weeks; asked if they had room for us to come in, and they said "sure!" So we paid $17 each and found ourselves in the Indian River Lagoon with seign nets (sp?), "seigning" for sea squirts! Took our treasures back to the lab and played with the microscopes...it was a blast! Sometimes you can check with local homeschool groupos in a destination city, and ask if there's anything you might tack onto.

God Bless,
Lori (aka Plans4You)
