"Science" is outta here...

Posted in Science

Do you remember when grape koolaid was like gold in our home? This has been the first week since the grape koolaid started flowing that any of us have actually felt better. So last Thursday I decided that I needed medical intervention and went to the drs. While attempting to rest, the boys decided that their "stuffed friends" were sick too and needed to rest. Too cute!!!

So after thinking of how cute my boys were being, I came out to the kitchen to make more grape koolaid. Imagine my surprise when I looked into my sink of soapy water and found this "friend" just lounging on the cheese slicer.  Yes, it's a lizard - a brown one. So visualize the scene with me ~ I'm sick and in desperate need of grape koolaid. And now I have a lizard deciding to take a relaxing bubble bath in my sink, in my house. Did I mention I was sick yet? So I call my mother-in-law - Science Professor Mama Jean. She says that the boys need to be "men" and help their momma. Well I do agree. But can you imagine the chaos if they attempted to get the lizard and well, didn't get it outside but dropped it inside the house? Did I mention I was sick and in need of grape koolaid?

So as I am on the phone with Professor Mama Jean, I look over at our beautiful caterpillars. Um, what did I see, while I am sick and in need of grape koolaid? We had an escapee!!!!  Oh no -- so now I am sick, need grape koolaid, have a bubble bathing cheese slicer lounging lizard in my soapy water and now I have an escaped caterpillar.

So this Mama has had ENOUGH OF SCIENCE.  Science is meant to stay outside the house and OUTSIDE THE HOUSE IS WHERE IT'S GOING!!!!  So the little men to the rescue.  I give the catepillar jar to the boys with instructions on where to take it and LEAVE IT. And they did a great job!!!

Then I found some cheesecloth that has previously been used to cover the caterpillars jar -- apparently useless cheesecloth as one of them escaped!! I showed the bubble bathing cheese slicer lounging lizard to the boys. They were amazed and explained what I was going to do. I told them that when I get the lizard into the cup they needed to be very quick and take the cup, with said bubble bathing cheese slicer lounging lizard outside and as far away from the house as possible. It took me two tries, but I was able to pick up the bubble bathing cheese slicer lounging lizard and get him/her into the cup. The boys were great about taking the lizard into the yard. Then they watched the lizard scurry back towards the house. Ugh!!!

So the moral of the story is -- keep SCIENCE outside!!!!
