Tour de' Cluttered Castle

Oh my, I don't know that I can really expose myself like this on my blog (it will still be G-rated), but are you ready? This weekend, pending any life threatening emergency, this house is going to be straightened (as in everything in its place), decluttered, cleaned (I'm not talking clean enough for the Queen of England, but liveable) and getting it ready to be painted (inside only). So that everyone in blog land can see the horror I am dealing with (not for a pity party) and to document whether we, as a family, can accomplish all that I desire in this house, here are some pictures. If you must gasp, please keep them to yourself, okay? LOL

Hubby's desk, or so it use to be. Maybe this is why hubby doesn't want to be in the office with me.

This is my work desk. Not any better than hubby's desk. Of course it's very difficult for me to even concentrate on working with this clutter.

This is to the right of my work desk. The first cabinet (snaller one holds my Konos and other homeschool related curriculum that we are using. The plastic bin in our art supplies. The last cabinet is our "quiet time" activities. Unfortunately not much "quiet time" has been happening lately. Um...?

This is the boys desk. I brought this in from the shed so that I could have one do indepdent school work here while the other is at the dining room table. So far all they have learned is how to have their desk look like Mom and Dad's. So much for setting an example.

And this is the laundry area in the office. It's been worse, but I want it better.

And now for the "heart of the home"... the kitchen.

We've ordered a new dishwasher from Lowe's and hopefully it will be installed sooner than later.

The bucket has whole wheat in it. Not sure where I'm going to store that dehydrator or the food processors. And I really do have a lot of cabinets in this kitchen which is a great blessing. Not if I would simply put things away......

The livingroom. We have recently brought out the winter clothes and are still dealing with putting them away and storing the summer clothes. Ugh....

Note the rocker that is currently housing the piles of clothes.

Two boxes of books from the library used book sale that I've yet to put away. Ugh...

This is our school cabinet. I have their pencils, crayons, Bibles, completed work, etc. It's in our dining room and thankfully our dining room isn't usually that messy.

This is the "green porch" -- notice the flooring - it's green. At some point the loveseat is going to the youth group at chuch, I hope. What you can't see is on the other side of the kids desk is an upright freezer. The green porch is off of the office and the dining room.

Foyer closet. The box is apples - I still have 2 layers of apples to do something with. The white bin under the jacket has potatoes in it.  The buckets inside the closet are of whole wheat that I grind for bread and other baking.

The kids book shelves in the foyer. Apparently I have yet to properly train the boys in how to put books away. You can see which side they favor. Ugh....and more ugh.....

The boys bedroom. We've learned the very hard way that having a number of toys in their room is not a good thing.

The little hallway to the craft room. These bins, which should have their summer clothes, are suppose to be under the bottom bunk bed.

It's amazing my hubby can even get around to his side of the bed with this mess outside of our closet. And no I don't like doors on my closet. This particular one had 3 sliding doors. Talk about a pain!!!

Even Dixie's kennel/crate isn't immune from clutter.

Primer and paint that was bought almost a year ago for the boys room and still hasn't been used.

Looking into the "I-don't-know-what-to-do-with-it", ur, I mean craft room.

This is suppose to be the table that I use for cropping and stamping. Can't remember the last time I sat at this table and actually was productive.

One of two closets in this room. This one holds my books and magazines. In front of it is a broken clarinet that was handed down by my mother in law. Not sure what the boxes have in them. And you can see the fabric on the shelves.

And even if I wanted to scrap or stamp, I'd have to move the clutter from in front of the table.

Definitely looks like I've been sewing a lot -- not.

Yes, even the dog has some delcutter, ur, cleaning to be done...to her. AKA -- she needs a bath. LOL

Now I am realistic about how much can actually get accomplished this weekend. The craft room is probably not going to happen. And yet it needs to because I need to paint the room. We also need to do laundry, grocery shop and well, um, relax. So....hopefully next week I can share with you what we did accomplish. I am hopeful that once control is regained in our house that it will be easier to keep up with. At least it was that way months ago.

You and I could be friends! I can understand my home looks a lot like yours. We are trying to get a handle on all our clutter. Sometimes it feels like I get one room cleaned only to go back a few minutes later and someone undoes all I just spent hours doing. Don't get discourage.
