Here are a few snippets from our morning. First the boys decided to be up before the appointed time of 7am. Always makes for a rather "Good Morning Vietnam" (the movie with Robin Williams) feel - unfortunately.
Second Joshua is better at unloading and reloading the dishwasher. So I asked him to put the clean dishes away after breakfast. He did good, but if we could find the red step stool, it would be great. Then I asked if he had put the dirty dishes from breakfast into the dishwasher. Are ya ready for his response? He says "why should I?" -- okay, go ahead and gasp - I did. Trying to remember to be calm, I asked him to come to the office and tell me again what he said because I wasn't sure I heard it. Nope, second time through confirmed I heard correctly - unfortunately. So we discussed why he should put them in the dishwasher - um, they are DIRTY. But he did point out that I didn't ask him to put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher. Okay, lesson time. Let's begin to think again of what could be done to help. So if I haven't told you to put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher, maybe next time you could simply ask me.
And third, Caleb informs me they are having a "tea party" in their room. He he all excited to show me. They have their dinosaurs, shoes from their stuff animals/people, blocks as tea or candy or I'm not sure what. I did remember to compliment them on playing nicely together this morning. I haven't pressed school time or additional helper jobs this morning simply because they are playing so nicely and relatively quietly together. Gotta take those moments when you can get 'em.
