Sunday, March 1, 2009 Joshua's "Gotcha" Day
As most of you know, Joshua was adopted at birth. When I have more time, I'll write about his adoption story. His "Gotcha" day is less than two weeks after Caleb's, but we generally do the same type of thing. A small treat and a little gift. This year he received a Leap Pad cartridge. He was happy.

Sunday, March 1, 2009 Caleb's "Gotcha" Day
As most of you know, Caleb is adopted. We adopted him at birth and brought him home when he was two days old. At some point I'll write up his adoption story. Every year we celebrate the anniversary of his adoption being finalized by the court. Most of the time "gotcha" days are a simple family affair. A little cake or other sweet something and a little gift. This year Caleb was a little sick and stayed home to take care of Martin who was a little more sick than Caleb, while Joshua and I did some errands.

After eating this yummy thing from Walmart, he opened his little gift. It was a Scooby-Doo video. He LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, Scooby-Doo.

Thursday, September 14, 2006 We are blessed by adoption
As I was trying to find Psalm 107 this morning, I saw again a verse that just speaks to my mama heart --
He settles the barren woman
in her home as a
happy mother of children.
Praise the LORD.
Psalm 113:9 NIV
Whenver I read that verse, I always know that adopting our two boys was the way in which God intended our family to grow. I simply can't imagine my life without them. I am very blessed to have been raised by my father and step-mother -- "mom". My mom didn't have to raise me, nor love me, but she did. In essence she "adopted" me without ever going through the legal system. I believe that because of my mom, God prepared me to be the barren woman who is a happy mother of children.
Yes, PRAISE THE LORD. |
