Verses on my heart

I went to bed last night with these verses on my heart. Even though most everyone can recite these from memory, I thought I would share them as a reminder to continually hide God's awesome word in our hearts.

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Jeremiah 29:11-14a

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, saith the Lord.

Until I looked up Isaiah 40:31, I don't think I had ever read the verses preceeding it. Let me share as I think they really set the stage for verse 31.

Isaiah 40:28-31a

Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint, and to those who have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but they that wait up the Lord shall renew their strength;

Do you think these verses tie into Galatians 6:9 ~~ And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

It's comforting to me that even when I am confused, weary and fainting, that the Lord, the Creator of the heavens, the earth and me, isn't fainting, He isn't weary, He is strong and is my rock of salvation. Amen!

Psalms 9:1 & 84:11 KJV

I looked up the words "heart" and "grace" in an old version of Strongs. I picked up this beauty at our local Friends of the Library book sale in April for a mere $1.00. Yes, I felt like I was stealing it.

Psalms 9:1 ~~  I will praise thee, O LORD with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvelous works.

Psalms 84:11 ~~For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory. No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Even in deep waters, Jesus Delights in me

From a book I was rereading last night, there was a mention of Psalm 18:32. So this morning I remembered I wanted to check it out. Here are a few verses from that Psalm that made my mouth drop this morning. All verses are from the NIV translation:

Psalm 18:16

He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.

Psalm 18:19

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

Can we just say WOW WOW and double WOW WOW to  the last line of verse 19 --

BECAUSE

HE DELIGHTED

IN ME.

So this is my take on these words of God for me today and my life recently. I do believe that recently I have been rescued from the deep waters of medical issues. It's important to listen to our bodies that are wonderfully created in the image of God. At the same time, it's also important to make sure you are your own advocate with your healthcare professional. Research all you can so that you are informed and can offer your own suggestions. If the doctor(s) aren't going to listen, then it's time to move on. The only way I could describe how awful I was feeling to my doctor was that I just wasn't me and I want to be me again. I am happy to report that Jesus has put us in a city where I have finally found a doctor that will listen and understands. And finally I am starting to feel like "me" again - I simply can't explain how joyful that makes me.

Psalm 18:30, 31 and 32

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?

It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

God's way is perfect, and the Bible -- the inspired Word of God is FLAWLESS -- how amazing is that!!!!!!

Is God my shield, my rock and my strength?

Did Jonah have compassion?

During breakfast yesterday we were discussing some behavior issues with the boys -- they certainly are "pickles" sometimes. One of the biggest right now seems to be using unkind words. I mentioned "compassion" and was promptly asked by Joshua "what is compassion?"  Okay, DH help me out here.....all I could think abou was the VeggieTales movie of Jonah.  I tried to explain compassion and even said that Jonah had compassion for the people of Nineveh. DH questioned this because of how the movie ended. So to the Bible I went. I read how God had compassion for the people of Nineveh, but apparently while Jonah obeyed the Lord, he didn't have compassion. Oops, guess I actually might need to read my Bible a little more often.

So this morning, I am thankful that the Lord was able to make me get up so I could begin work early. With this being a holiday weekend, I'd like to have all my hours in by noon on Friday. So that is my goal. I can not slack and I can not take naps during the day. Wish me luck.

Speaking of reading my Bible a little more often, these were the verses that really stood out to me this morning. I thought I'd share them with you. All from the NIV.

Psalm 90:2 & 14:

Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Proverbs 28:13-14 & 19:

He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Blessed in the man wo always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

Zephaniah 3:17

The LORD your God is with you, he is might to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

Malachi 4:6

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.

Have a blessed day glorifying God, our salvation!!!
