Apr. 20, 2007 - I've been busy!

I had my Debate final exam this week! I felt pretty good about it, and I only wasn't prepared for one of the questions, since they didn't put it on our "how to prepare" list. I should have known it though.

I started a new writing program this week! I'm now doing "Write Shop 1". I like it alot, and my mom says that I have to do this one no matter what (I have a bad tendency to dislike some stuff that I have to do). I've been learning alot about concrete writing. I'm supposed to use more discriptive words instead of "watercolor" words.

I've also been intending this week to start a new sewing project...a regency dress! I"ve got really pretty fabric, and a great pattern, but I've just been missing the time to start it! I guess the project I've been working on the most this week is a new crochet pattern! I'm developing a crochet pattern website right now. It's very pretty, but it just needs more patterns! The pattern I'm currently working on is a bag made from plastic grocery bags and garbage bags! It's going to have stripes of fun fur around it, too. I'll post pictures of it when I'm done.

My mom and I are going to a quilt show tomorrow! She has a wall hanging that she made that is going to be on display! I'm looking foward to seeing it!

That's all for now!
God Bless,
Chelsea

Apr. 16, 2007 - My GREAT Weekend!

Hey everyone!

Yesterday we went to my cousins birthday party at my aunt and uncles house. I haven't seen my little cousin Noah, and parents (my first cousin and her husband) for almost 2-1/2 years! It was really nice to see them and visit with them. They have another little girl who is about 18 months, and I've never met her before. While we were there, we did a ton of 4 wheel riding, because my aunt and uncle live right next to a motor cross track that belongs to their neighbors. It was a BLAST!!! There were so many little jumps that we were going over, and the track was so curvy, my arms are killing me today because they're not used to so much physical stress on them from holding on to the 4 wheeler so tight!

I feel very ready for my debate test now. I've been so stressed over it, but I feel like I have God's peace over me with it now.

I recieved "The Bible in 90 days" last week, and I'm done with day 5 now. I've already finished the book of Genisis, and I'm pretty far into Exoduce now. I definatly would recomend that book (it's a NIV version Bible that is streamline and has page markers every 12 pages for break points) for anyone who has always wanted to read the Bible, but finds it such a difficult task. It usually only takes about 45 minutes to an hour everyday to read. We bought two, but we've found that everyone in our house wants to use it!

God Bless Everyone!

Apr. 14, 2007 - Relaxing...FINALY!

Hey everyone,

We've had company since yesterday morning, and I'm enjoying my time this afternoon with a less noisy house. My Aunt and Cousins came, and we had a really good time. We haven't seen them since Christmas.

I've been researching into starting a cake decorating business. Cake decorating is one of the things that I really enjoy that I'd actually consider having for a life-long job. I'm looking into getting decorating classes at our local Michaels or JoAnns Store.

Well, I guess I'd better get going, I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Apr. 12, 2007 - My Beautiful dress...

Hello!

I've made a dress for a sewing competition, and today was the day I got it ironed, and packed into the box to send away. It's really pretty, and -if I may say so myself-looks wonderful! I'll try and post a picture of it soon.

I've also been busy making plastic bag yarn! I'm designing a crochet website, and my friend and I are going to design a whole line of plastic bag wear (well, rugs, purses, that kind of thing) for it. She made an awesome handbag out of plastic bags! It kinda looks like one of those bags made from straw kind of material.

I've also been busy studying for my debate final exam. It's so mind boggling, I have no clue how I'll memorize it all!

Talk to you all later!

Apr. 10, 2007 - My day...

I started the day today by actually getting up before 7! Usually I have the hardest time getting up before 8, but I slept with my little sisters, and they are early morning risers. So getting up so early made my day feel so much longer! We went to visit my Grandparents this morning, and I studied for my debate class while I was there. At noon I went to debate, and we were supposed to watch a "bloppers" video, but I guess it never came. :( We only have one real debate class left, and then we have a party! I'm looking foward that! Does anyone have any tips on studying for my final exam? If you do, I want them!!!!!!

Talk to yall later!

Apr. 9, 2007 - A new begining...

Hello!

I haven’t written for a while, but I think it’s time I start off to a good start on this blog stuff!

So, I’ll introduce myself! I’m Chelsea, and I’m 14 years old. I’m a speed skater, and I pray that I’ll someday be an Olympic athlete! I enjoy sewing, crocheting, researching historical fashions (especially civil war and regency), trying my hand at sewing historically accurate costumes, playing basketball with my brother, designing clothes, and spending time alone with God. I’m also in the 8th grade right now.

Today I got my new writing course in the mail that I am going to be using. It looks like a lot of fun, and I’ll just have to post everything that I write for it. I’ll also have to post pictures of all of the things that I create and sew.

I’ll post more later!

Oct. 27, 2006 - It's been a while...

hello everyone! It's been quite a while since I last posted, but I've had a busy summer/early fall. I started speedskating this month, and I had my first competition (we call them meets) over the second weekend of the month. It truly was a blast!! I came in 1st place (the only place I could come in, I was the only girl in my group), and got a georgeous medal!! Last weekend I had another meet, and I got first place again! This weekend I have another meet, and this time I'm going to compete with all the girls that have been skating for years on end. I'm really excited about it! I'm espcially hoping that I'll do well! Some of the girls have been skating for atleast 5 years! My coach thinks that give about 3 months, and I'll be right up there with the fastest of them! How exciting! My practices go quite well, also.

I've been working on my book for school, but I haven't edited anymore stories to the readable stage, so I'll probably have all my stories go up in big clumps as they are worked on.

May. 10, 2006 - About Today

Hey all!

Today was a pretty busy day, but not as hectic as somedays can get! It started with me and my mom going to curves, after leaving my little brothers and sisters with my Grandma. I had to go to the library across the street from curves before I could start my work out, becasue my mom had placed some things on hold. They weren't there yet, so I had to go find the book up stairs that he wanted. I didn't find it, so I got a different one, but that one, I later find out was one of the ones that he didn't want to read! Oh well! He decided to read it anyway though! Then when I finally got to get into curves, my mom was already half through her workout! When she was done I still had to go around the circut again, so she went and got groceries down the street while I finished my workout. After we went home (after getting my brothers and sisters, of course!), we played out side, and had lunch. Then we started getting things rounded up for the garage sale my chruch is having for a missions trip for the senior high at our church. Why, I must have gotten rid of about 1/2 of my clothes! But, I hope they earn lots of money off of them!

After I weeded through all of my things, I mowed the lawn, and was going to go to town, but my dad needed me to stay home. And that brings me to where I am! Writing in my blog.

Well, time to go!

Bye!

May. 9, 2006 - My first story!!!!!!!

Chelsea’s story

She stepped out onto the ice, feeling fresh and excited. Stroking around the rink, she thought about what was going to be in her warm-up. She decided to work on a step sequence that was usually very troublesome. “Wow, that was great for a first time through! Now I’d better practice spinning though.” she thought to herself. Her sit spin was pretty hard because she had to get so low to the ice, and get back up. The hardest part was getting up from the sitting position. “Wow! My sit spin was perfect! I got a perfect position! That’s so awesome…” she thought. Then she decided to try an axel, a jump she had been struggling with for over a year. This was one of her most difficult jumps. It is the only jump that you begin with a backwards approach, then jump going forward and spin around 1-1/2 times in the air and land backwards. “Oh my! My axel was really great!” she exclaimed. She looked back at the landing, to make sure she hadn’t made any extra rotation on the ice, which is called cheating. She thought, “Wow, I didn’t even cheat my axel! Wait until my coach hears about this!”

“Chelsea, Chelsea!” She was aroused from her day dream by her friend telling her it was time to start teaching the skating lessons. Chelsea thought, “That was a cool dream!” Later, on her way home from teaching skating lessons, she thought to herself, “Too bad that wasn’t a speed skating dream! Then I would have rocked the ice!” Chelsea had recently switched from figure skating to speed skating, because she saw more potential for success in that sport, and she loved it as much as figure skating!

After Chelsea got home, she decided to put on a pot of tea and get out an embroidery project to work on. Sipping her hot peppermint tea, she worked on finishing her embroidered pillowcases. She had been working on them for over one year. Her Mom came in and said, “So, finally deciding to finish them?” Chelsea replied, “Well, I guess, but I doubt I will finish them today!”

Mom said, “It’s almost time to get ready for AWANA, so better hurry up.” Chelsea replied, “Great! I am going to finish my J.V. book tonight!” AWANA was a church event that Chelsea and her brother and sister went to after supper Sunday nights. There, they memorized bible verses, played games, and did some special activities. Chelsea’s J.V. group was a brand new level for AWANA. Chelsea and several of her friends wanted to continue in the AWANA program, but they were too old for the TnT group.

That evening Chelsea recited all of her Bible verses perfectly! She had been asked to recite Ephesians 6:11, 14-17 which talked about the armor of God. Chelsea thought about the last part of verse 17, which said, “…and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God” “It must mean to battle Satan with bible verses when he tempts you with things you know you shouldn’t do. I am sure that verse will come in handy some time when Satan tempts me!” Chelsea thought to herself.

After AWANA was done, and Chelsea had been home for some time, Mom said, “Chelsea, will you get the kids ready for bed and tuck them in?” This was a task that Chelsea enjoyed. First she started the delightful process of getting up the stairs. She called to Ellie and Joel, “On your marks! Get SET! GO!!!!!!!” This was the exciting nightly race up stairs. With Joel and Ellie being only 2 and 4 years old, they always needed a little motivation to get up the steps. Chelsea always let Ellie and Joel win so they would want to do it again the next night. Then she got Joel in his jammies, brushed his teeth, tucked him in, and said prayers with him. Next she got Ellie in her jammies, brushed her teeth, and said the “special” prayer with her. It went like this, “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Guide me through the starry night, and wake me when the sun shines bright. Amen.” Chelsea gave Ellie her kisses and hugs before getting into her own jammies.

She went down stairs to finish the dishes, and read as much of her current book as she could before mom called her to bed. When the dreaded “Bed time!” came, Chelsea got a kiss from Mom and Dad, and headed up stairs. She crawled into bed, and said her prayers. Looking up at the starry sky she thought, “What a wonderful day!” Her eyes silently closed as she drifted off to sleep.

Soo....How did you like it?? It took me 7 drafts to get it this way! I am writing alot of storys this year for a special book that I am making. It is a book about my family history, and I am using a special program for it called "Write Your Roots." This was the first week of things to do, and I was required to make a vignette (the "dream" part) about yourself, then expand it to a whole story! This week I am required to make charts of my family history! I sure am glad that I have a very geneological family, meaning that both sets of Grandparents know the family lineage pretty well!

I'll write more later!
