Zoo Time!
What good of a Conservationist would I be without going to the zoo and learning more than I did???
Yes,We went to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma,WA, on Tuesday the 21st. I, of course, had so much fun seeing all the animals. We saw practically everything except they don't have Crocodiles! What is wrong with them?!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't have a zoo without Crocs!!!
Anyway, My mom and I took alot of pictures for yours and mine enjoyment! The only animal's we did not get the pictures for were the Seahorses,Jellyfish, the aquarium of fish, and some other little ones. We unfortunately walked right past the house that held the Burmese Python, Eurasian Eagle Owl, Boa Constrictors, and some other little animals. And anyone who "knows" me on HSB knows I love snakes! Especially the big ones and so I was very disappointed when I found out they did have those and we walked right past it. It was sort of hidden among the trees.
But we did get some really good pictures of other animals. They have a "Wild Wonders" show everyday and they bring out so many animals I can't remember the names of them. So in some pictures there are no names on the birds and stuff simply because I don't know them and I am to lazy to look it up :) No,seriously folks,I don't remember and they don't tell you on the website :(
Here is the slideshow. My dear mother put the names on the pics and I did too so there are pics of 'My grandson' and stuff like that. No,I do not have a child. Eck. I don't want children but anyway,we picked up my nephew, her grandson, and took him with us. His name is Danny so.. Yeah there ya go.. Hope you enjoy the pictures and tell me your favorite! I am the one in the black skirt and red shirt with the vest. Yes,I am wearing a vest in the summer time :) It was raining and cold out that day.
Sorry if it goes a little fast.
I applied for a volunteer position at a animal sanctuary outside of Kingman,AZ. The place is called Keepers of the Wild and the rescue animals who have been abused through animal shows and such. They mostly have Tigers which is nice, but they also have Lions, cheetahs (I'll get some more info, Sarah
) So please pray that they "hire" me for a volunteer position. Ha! I still have to get a job when I get back to AZ though. Maybe I can work at Petco in Kingman, which is only about 30 mins away from Bullhead City! :) -Julia

Weeper Capuchin Monkey
On Sunday the 5th we had been traveling up to WA state as a surprise to my family. We stopped at a rest stop outside a town in Oregon and there was a truck driver there with a weeper capuchin monkey as a pet!!! I don't agree with having them as pets but I went over anyways!! I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to hold a monkey. Well,as you can imagine, everyone else in the rest stop was surrounding the monkey and asking questions.
There were two teen girls sitting on the ground and the monkey was on their lap. I had been standing and the monkey spotted me and came over to me so I got down on the ground and she immediately became my friend. She started giving me love bites and playing with the buttons on my skirt and just being a typical curious monkey. My brother Brandon, who is 5, came and sat next to me. He was a little afraid of the monkey cause she kept making screeching noises and talking and stuff. Well the monkey started to groom Brandon's shirt and clothes and really liked him but clung and stuck by me. She would occasionally walk away to someone else then come right back to me.
She was so cute and soft. Then she started playing with my hand again by taking my hand and slamming it into her mouth. Why you ask? I have no idea. I think she was playing!! But she bit down a little hard but I didn't say anything nor did I take my hand away. Most mokey's believe that if you don't let them do whatever they want to do with you, you are not their friend. Does that make sense? Like the have to trust you and you them. Thats how a monkey clan works. Lol. Anyway,I have a little scrape still were she bit a little hard with her teeth but that is okay!!!! I don't mind at all. I wouldn't even have minded if she broke the skin. I love animals and I know that she wouldn't have meant to bite down hard. Ya know?
Anyway, the owner said she hated teenage boys and there was a 20 year old trying to take a picture and whenever he would get down to her level she tried to attack him. Then ran back to the other women sitting on the ground. She loved kids cause all the kids started petting her. I loved how the kids were able to touch her cause they will also be touched for the rest of their lives. Maybe some will grow up to become Wildlife Warriors like my friends Croctoria , ChesapeakeSailor, and I am sure more of you are wildlife warriors too but I know for sure these two are!!! (Only cause we told each other we are WWSister's) :)
Here is a motto by my idol and hero Steve Irwin-"If we can touch people about wildlife, they will be touched. Share my wildlife with me. Because HUMANS want to save things that they LOVE"
Here are some pictures :)

This was what the monkey was doing with my hand :)
I know that August 5th was like almost two weeks ago but I had problems getting the pictures onto the computer.. The house I am normally staying at doesn't have the right portal for the picture chip and so I had to wait till I got back to my other grandparents house to use the portal and download the pics :)
Update as of 8-12: I have a bruise were the monkey bit me,but it is fading..

"Little Green Frog"
I went over to a friend house on Saturday and I saw my bffe's mom,Peggy, talking to the owners of the house,Tomme and Simona. Then she spotted something on the ground and picked it up. All I heard was 'How cute!' before actually making it over there. Then Mrs. Peggy wandered into the backyard and so I said hello to the one of the owners of the house,Tomme, and wandered into the backyard. Well lo and behold Mrs Peggy had a little green tree frog in her hands and she was showing Declan (Tomme and Simona's son) and Brandon the frog.. I couldn't resist being my typical animal conservationist self,I HAD to get a closer look. I asked to hold it and she put it on my hand,it just sat there on the top of my hand. Then the other owner of the house,Simona, came over and I asked her to take a picture of the frog for my animal blog. So I reached into my pocket to get my cell phone.
She and Mrs. Peggy laughed about how I just flipped out my cell and there was a potable camera. Ha! Techonology is a good thing
So she took a picture of me and the frog and here it is.

You can't exactly see my eyes and how excited I am. I'm sorry the frog is blurry but ha! Yeah whatever. Anyway,I gave the frog back to Mrs. Peggy and she took it over to a tree but it just kept jumping onto her shirt. Then it jumped onto the ground and the kids were freaking out cause a frog was near their foot.. Ha,kids!!!!!! LOL So then I scooped it back up and took it back over to the tree. After much thought the frog jumped down and hopped away underneath the tree.. That was my exciting adventure :)
Oh and I found out that the snake the other day in the bushes, actually the bushes were in Tomme and Simona's yard, was probably laying her eggs in there. Simona saw it and picked it up and it turned around and bit her. Good thing Garter snakes are non-venomous. Tomme said that the snake was very swollen around the cloaca. So more than likely she was trying to lay an egg when Simona picked it up. I don't know. I have never seen garter snake and what the body looks like RIGHT before laying an egg. I only see the aftermath. Hee hee. You can read the story about the snake here. It's the second paragraph.
