My Personal Trainer?
I have blogged in the past about how I have started walking. One day I even clocked two miles! That only happened once. Most days my aunt stops by, we walk until we get tired and then say, "I'm tired, one more round?" Then we quit.
Today, my husband decides he wants to start exercising. He wants me to walk with him. He asked me how many times I walk around the driveway. I mistakenly answered, "My goal is 10 times around, but..."
I think my husband and I have different ideas about what my walking goal means. When I say 10 times around, that's really just some mythical number that I may walk someday when I am supercharged with a lot of energy. Not meeting that goal has never made me feel guilty or lazy.
However, when we walked today he was determined we would do ten times around. At five, he was cheering us on with, "Halfway done!" While I was thinking, "Let's just do one more."
By round nine I had had enough of his pep talks and walked into the house. Behind me he was yelling, "After about a week we can work up to 15 laps."
I think I want my old walking partner back.

Thats funny. How long is your driveway? Ours is short. I would have to walk about 50 laps, and boring it would be. I also would get wet as it is still raining in the northwest!

That is so funny! I'll keep that in mind the next time my dh asks me my exercise goals ;)

LOL. I've got a friend whose hubby is EXACTLY like that! They jog together, er... at least, they DID... but her hubby is the sort to see his struggling bride dragging her feet and panting and sweating, he'll turn around in front of her so he's jogging BACKWARDS, and he's like a bouncing gazelle, prancing in front of her with a big smile on his face, pepping her on saying, "C'mon, honey! You can do it! We're almost at one mile!"
The thought of that scene makes me smile! My hubby and I just aren't that motivated! LOL. And he's not exactly the cheerleader type. That would be me. LOL.
Anyway, many blessings! And happy walking!

Now there's a way that I'm NOT like a guy but my dh is...lol. Definitely sounds like something he'd do. I say go back to your other partner indeed. My walking partners are all about half the size of me so I don't have to worry about them wanting to do more than I can handle. ;-)
Thanks for your comments on my blog and for your prayers. I certainly hope that I can get rid of the family influence as it's decidedly un-Christian.
Well, my walking partners sound like they are having a desagreement of another kind so I'll go intervene. :-D

We are married to the same man! Except, if I say ten itmes around, my Dh gets out the measuring wheel so he can measure the exact distance. Then, we can work on the goal of increasing both our speed and distance--and can quantify our progress, too. LOL

LOL! I'm lucky dh can't walk distances, or he'd be just like that. As it is I steer clear of trying to use his exercise bike.

My husbands greatest dreams are for us to exercise together but I'm wondering how good that would be for our marriage!?!? This is exactly his idea. That hunt and conquer thing just kind of involuntarily kicks in and they become slave drivers! Ha-Ha!
