Bedtime Surprise

Clementine lost her two front teeth tonight. She has been babying these loose teeth for months now. If I weren’t equally squeamish about all things teeth, I may have been tempted to pull them while she slept.

I was in Milo’s room, with him on my lap reading Goodnight Moon. We were on one of the black and white pages when she came rushing in hysterically sputtering and spraying drops of blood all over us. Milo was fascinated by the spray on the white pages in his book. Emeline was standing nearby with a horrfied expression on her face and I was still trying to figure out what was going on.

She was crying because she had bumped her teeth pretty hard on my bed and it knocked out both teeth at once. It hurt a little, I’m sure, but she was also quite surprised.

When she calmed down a little and after Milo was tucked in, the girls and I cuddled on the bed and comforted Clementine. "I’ll look ugly now," she fretted. "And I can’t talk right."

"You’re adorable," I said and went to pull out my old albums to show her some really funny pictures of me without my two front teeth. Then, I had to take a picture of her to put in her baby book.

Only one of my 4 children had BOTH of their lovely front teeth out at once. But, there's something so dang cute about it. Take lots of pictures because since my daughter milked them for so long...(like yours) the permanent ones were rip roaring ready to come in. She was only like that for a matter of weeks. :(

What a beautiful smile! That is a classic photo...the missing 2 front teeth photo. That's amazing that they came out at the same time. I can just imagine the excitement! Ohhh, it's time for a unit study on teeth :)

The pond at our new place is not ours, but we hear the fishing is really good. Alot of goood that does us, though, DH, DS and do not have the stomach for fish cleaning. We're suburbanites in a country setting. In the neighborhood we're in now...we're all suburbanites...even the fishermen with the fanciest of poles at the retention ponds throw the fish back in!

This was a different couple asking for the lawnmower! Isn't that hilarious? DH convinced me to just throw it in on the deal. WE don't have room in our garage for it, and we can't have a storage building, so DH has parked it outside for the last 6 years...I figured he'd use this as an excuse to go to Home Depot and get a new toy. But, he agreed, we all could use the exercise!

I have a friend who can't stand it when my daughter wants to show her her loose teeth. My son doesn't mind them, but doesn't want to pull them. My daughter works at them and works at them to get them to come out. I can remember doing the same when I was young.

Your daughter is adorable!

thanks for stopping by my blog. i try to stay caught up on your's as well, but i don't always comment because i'm usually limited to nap time for blogging. i like your new pic of your kids at the top. i love spring/summer and playing by the water! i think the strangest way i ever lost a tooth was eating a taco. i took a bite and thought it was a piece of taco shell stuck b/w my teeth, but nope ... it was my tooth! i hate teeth too. i am dreading my kids losing theirs, glad i have a few years to go.

Oh my goodness, what cute, cute kids! :)

I had just a few minutes today in between packing boxes...so while nursing the baby was able to do some visitin'. :) I have really enjoyed reading your blog today, it is so nice to see other moms in action...kind of encourages the rest of us to keep going. :)

I loved the turtle races, too!

I guess I forgot to log in. Hmm. Anyhow, she's as far from ugly as the east is from the west! Too cute. Last year our children were all sleeping together on the floor. Our daughter got up to go to the bathroom and our youngest decided he wanted to go see where she went. It was dark and she was running back to the room as he was leaving - BOOM! Her teeth into his forehead! He starts screaming about his head and I ran up to take care of him, not knowing what had happened, and then I hear her screaming, "My teeth!!! My teeth!!" I turned on the light and there was blood everywhere. We called the dentist and had to go in first thing in the morning. Ugh. it was awful. I had to lay on her while she screamed and cried so the doctor could pull the teeth out. It was a terrible experience for both of us, but you know what? She's not ugly. :)

Emily has been holding on to a tooth for about a week now, and I just want to put her in a headlock and yank it out. I just called her in here and had her look at your sweet daughter and told her how cute she looked with no front teeth. Did not work. Oh well - it will just have to fall out.
