Another Day Of Faith!

March 29, 2006 - Saving Pennies

We have the coolest thing to save for field trips. My oldest daughter wanted to help Jenni and I with homeschool and she prayed and came up with the idea to buy us a bank. She found this very cute teddy bear teacher penny bank and gave it to Jenni and I for Christmas. We were thrilled, what a loving gift.

We have been filling it with all our coins, so far we have saved almost enough to go to Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. It is amazing to see how much money you can save by just putting away a few pennies a day. It has been fun too, we have been challenging each other to see who can put in more change. My oldest daughter & my husband have also been pitching in a few coins to help us reach our goal.

It will be a great field trip and a fun one too. Especially considering all the hard work and saving that went into getting us there. It will be more special.

I'm Patty. I was doing the random blog thing and came across your blog.
I have only been hs'ing for 2 yrs. My son is 15. The past 2 yrs have been a struggle but I think we are finally getting things together. It is scary going into the high school yrs. Not sure if we are going to go all the way or if he is just going to get his ged. Will just have to pray and see what happens.
I have been keeping a jar in my drawer to put my spare change in. I have started using cash for groceries and I put all my change from that in the jar. I had to dip into it tho this week for necessities.
I know you will miss you daughter and grandson when they move. My daughter is a freshman in college-I'm still not used to her being gone. But she will be home soon for the summer.
Have a good weekend
Patty H.

Neat idea! Kids can SEE their savings building and work toward a definite goal.
Rather than just thinking money falls from trees or comes from some magical bank account. They can be contributing to the savings plan. Builds appreciation! :)
ALso, I like the new look of your blog.
Michelle

Thanks Michelle,
I thought it was a great idea as well. But I have to give most of the credit to my oldest daughter Hollie, she is the one who thought of the idea.
I like the new background too, but I wish I knew how to design my own blog, as I would have more country designs to it!
Have a wonderful day!
Laura

thanks for visiting my blog. I too worry about things I say and feel stupid after saying them. I want a meek and quiet spirit. I know htat only God can create that in me. I say sometimes say things before I think. We are in revival this week and the message last night was in Ps. 51:10-Create in my a clean heart. I really needed that message. That is my prayer and that God will renew in me an upright spirit and restore the joy of His salvation.
Thanks
Patty H.

Hi, I spotted your question about transcripts over at jn1512's blog. Hope you don't mind me popping in and butting in! LOL

I know a few ladies who've graduated some of their children and created their own transcripts. It's not *that* difficult, according to them (I bow to their experience!).

One of them has/had some very helpful info online. You can still get to the pages at these "cached" sites:

http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:ikRCeNVx7BQJ:charlottes-cyberwebs.com/how_do_i_make_a_transcript.htm++site:charlottes-cyberwebs.com+charlottes+cyberwebs+transcripts&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=2

http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:SdKZRzRvV_sJ:charlottes-cyberwebs.com/college_entrance_and_test_prep.htm++site:charlottes-cyberwebs.com+charlottes+cyberwebs+transcripts&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=3

First one is for her making a transcript page and second one is for college entrance and test prep.

There is also software out there that can help you create a transcript. One program, Homeschool Tracker, has a free downloadable version. Very handy. The free version doesn't include the transcript feature but the "plus" version does. I believe it costs $35, one time fee. The plus version also has a few other features as well. There is a 30 day money back guarentee so maybe you could give it a try and if it's not what you need/want you could be no worse for the wear. I've never heard anything bad about it from anyone using it. In fact, I use the free version now and fully intend to upgrade to the plus version in a couple years.

I hope this helps you some. God bless!

oops, didn't give you the url to Homeschool Tracker: http://www.homeschooltracker.com/
