Another Day Of Faith!

November 3, 2005 - Another Day Another Book

Well, Praise God each day I seem to plug on through. My daughter is doing a lot better with her learning. She took 2 tests and got a C on both! These are the first tests that she has passed since I started her homeschooling in the fall!

We are so happy and proud of her. It took a lot of work to help her pass! Now the bad news is we have had to drop a lot of her books and courses. The Bob Jones Writing & Grammer was too hard for her to do, even though it was her grade level. So for language arts I just have her reading different books. The Saxon Algebra I was too hard so I have to buy the Algebra book now (Thank God for Ebay!).

Is this normal? Am I a terrible homeschooling Mom? Am I doing everything wrong? Oh geez I am a nervous thing arn't I? I know eventually if I had time, I would work things all out, but she is in10th grade so time to work things out is short. She is also looking forward to going to college so I have that to prepare for as well.

Whew, a lot on my plate. But I have faith that all this will work out....sort of! Ha Ha Ha Ha!

November 4, 2005 - It WILL all work out....

We all worry about these things. My son is in 9th and behind in a subject or two,(and I've homeschooled him since 1st grade!) before I wasn't too stressed, but now that we're in the last few years, I feel like I have to make sure we get it all in on time.

As far as not being in the correct grade levels for all her subjects, don't worry. Alot of the curriculums are pretty advanced, one to two years ahead of the public schools. I had a hard time with BJU English grade 10, and I always thought I was good at English!

Just keep plugging away at it, and be willing to make changes to fit her style of learning and it WILL all come together!

November 7, 2005 - You are fine

You are new at this thing. It takes a while to figure out where your kids are sometimes. And what curriculum will and won't work. What level, style etc.. You're just going through a normal thing called road bumps. It'll smooth out and you'll get into a great comfy groove some day...it could be very soon. Just hang in there and ask God to guide your choices.
Sounds like you are plenty flexible and full of faith too! Keep it up!!
