Review 2: General overview of WEE-BOOKS
Jenifer Dees
Have you ever thought, “If only I could get my hands on that magazine article.”? You know the one you read in The Old Schoolhouse magazine a while back. The one you thought you should memorize so, you’d be prepared next time you faced a homeschool critic. Well, the Schoolhouse Store has solved that problem with WEE-BOOKS. There are over 30 e-books to choose from. The e-books are inexpensive and you can download them within minutes. Print one and give it to your friend who needs encouraging or even to one of your critics.
There is a great variety of e-books available. I enjoyed the one on Hummingbirds. Isn’t God awesome in the way he designs his creation? My boys will love setting up feeders and watching His handiwork! I could go on an on about all the great e-books, but don’t take my word for it – go check it out for yourself! |

Review of E-Book: Home Work
Jenifer Dees
What homeschool mom hasn’t thought about a home-based business before? I don’t know of a mom out there that wouldn’t like extra money, or working at a job that brings you personal joy. Do you know what keeps me from going for it? One word: FEAR!!
I just finished reading the E-Book, Homework. It is a wonderful and eclectic collection of real moms who overcame their fears and started a home-based business. Some did it because of a passion they had, some did it to make ends meet, and some did it to provide learning experiences for their children. Regardless of their reason, they did it. All the stories were real and could easily be related to. No one was making millions or doing things that were far-fetched. They were all real and I liked it. This E-Book is a “must Read” for anyone who has ever had a “great idea” about working from home.

Feb. 6, 2007 More Chickens = More Eggs?
| Well, this sweet little chicken adventure is turning into a major production. We have one rooster and two hens or maybe I should say, " we had" two hens. A hawk had a nice dinner out of one of our hens. Now instead of replacing the one hen my boys think it will be fun to expand this operation! I am ever the skeptic, but I do have to hand it to them because so far they have gotten everything FREE! Our local feed store will have baby chicks around March 1 and my husband thinks about 30 will be a great number. Don't ask what I think! An older gentleman from church is quite amused by this chicken operation has given us a brooder box (not sure of spelling) for all our little chicks. I guess I should be thankful because the box actually will house 50 chicks. Now my husband is expanding the chicken house into what looks like a chicken hotel. Like I said thus far everything (but feed) has been free. My boys love the chickens and we do get an egg a day. I wonder how many eggs we will get with 30? Our chickens now are Rhode Island Reds and we plan to get Dominiques (spelling?). |

Jan. 6, 2007 GOT CHICKENS?
We started out our day going to visit some friends from church to "look" at their chickens and chicken facilities. We ended our day with a chicken coop built and the promise of a rooster and hen from our friends. How we went from looking to being well on our way to owning, I just don't know. Turner, our two year old, has walked around all day saying, "Got Chickens, Momma?" So, if anyone has chickens and just absolutely loves it--I want to know about it. We are only planning on getting about 5 hens. I would love to read your comments. Thanks so much! Have a blessed day! |

| I was just wondering if anyone had a "Schedule" for house cleaning that they kept on a weekly basis. I need to get some organization in my life! I think if I tackle one area a day I might actually be able to feel like my house is half-way sanitary. Anyway, I need to go and actually start cleaning! |

Jan. 2, 2007 Two Year Project completed!
Kudos to my wonderful husband! Our new roof is complete on the house and shed, and the fence is finally fixed! Thanks to hurricane Katrina, we needed lots of repairs to our homestead. Glory to God, because without him we would not be finished with all the work this soon! Insurance only would give us enough money for 1/2 a roof. God provided enough opportunities for us to earn extra bucks to pay for the other repairs! He is so GOOD!!!! Of course, now the boys are ready to get on with things that matter to them--like getting some chickens!!
Have a Blessed Day! |

Dec. 30, 2006 Busy Reading -- Time to Write
I've spent alot of time reading blogs today. Keep up the good work everyone! You never know what you blog can be just what someone needed that day! I was so excited about going to see the movie " Charlotte's Web" and spending some special time with my four year old and some other friends. My son had some money to spend and had been asking for a specific car to go with a set he got for Christmas. We were given movie certificates for Christmas (thank goodness! movies are soooo expensive these days). With all this said our wonderful afternoon turned sour when my son got a bad case of the "I wants" and whined about everything. I don't feel that just because a child is over tired that he earns the right to be rude and ungrateful. But how does one get this point across at the time? I don't know if I handled it correctly. I told him he could not speak unless he wanted to tell me thank you for everything (I named the things specifically) he had been able to do or get. He finally said thank you but I think it was mainly because he wanted to tell me something else. Anyway, does anyone have any tips! Good night and hope everyone has a blessed, last day of 2006!!!!!!!!

Oct. 23, 2006 More about us
I am the wife of a full-time minister of education/admin. and mother of two boys. My oldest is almost 4 and the youngest is 2. We live in the country and love it. The house we bought has a very large shed with two rooms in it. The small room is already sheetrocked and has windows and electrical. We had considered turning this room into a school room. Do people do that???? Or does it matter???? What are pros and cons of having a seperate school room. I know not all learning takes place inside. Anyway, I'm rambling and like I said in my first entry I don't have any idea what I'm doing with this whole homeschooling business. God Bless anyone who reads this and doesn't think I'm crazy!!! |

Oct. 20, 2006 Where do I begin?
This is my first entry and I don't really understand all the terminology used in blogging. I hope I am doing this right! I have been wanting to homeschool my children since the day they were born. I know that everyday is a day of learning, but when do I begin any kind of formal lessons (like the kind I keep records on). I've been reading the New Harvest Homestead newsletter and have been so encouraged and desire more and more to lead this quiet, hands on life. |

About Me
We are finishing our first homeschool year with only six days left in Kindergarten work. This has been a roller coaster of a year and I wouldn't trade this for anything! I'm anxious to start planning for our next phase.
