Its a Girl!!!!
That's right apparently
we only make girls, but I don't care! I am in Heaven! Rebecca Esther
Hooker (Esther is what we will call her) was born at 1:09 Tuesday
morning. She was 8lbs 14oz and 21 inches long. So much for that tiny
baby I was expecting. LOL She is doing wonderfully! We had no
problems during labor and delivery. My midwife and her apprentice
arrived at 9:00p.m. I was at 5cm and handling everything very well at
that point. My blood pressure was fine, so I was able to get up. I sat
in the kitchen with Debi and Michelle (mw and apprentice) and talked
for a few hours while working through contractions. Then around 11:00,
Debi suggested I try to lay down and rest for a while. As soon as I
laid down the contractions picked up speed and intensity. After about
an hour of those and then a long hot bath, she checked me again. I was
7 cm and we decided to break my water. It was 12:54 at that time and
she was born at 1:09 after only two pushes. She nursed right away! I am
so thrilled that she is nursing so well and is so healthy. She has a
full head of black hair. If I can figure out how to resize pictures
than I will try to get some posted soon. The only problems I
had happened later after we were tucked into bed and everybody was
trying to sleep. I woke up not feeling so hot and went to the bathroom.
I started bleeding profusely all over the place. I'm talking clots as
big as my open hand! It was a bit scary, but I am so thankful that God
was watching over us. Normally Debi would have already headed home, but
since it was so late and she lives an hour and a half away, she decided
to sleep the rest of the night on the couch. So she was able to get me
back to bed after I nearly passed out and then get all the clots out. I
think I was more sore from that then the actual birth. If she had not
been here, we would have been headed to the hospital for sure. So I
have lots to be thankful for! Well, Esther is wanting to eat, so I
better get off here.

Congratulations on little Esther! What a BLESSING. And praise the Lord you are alright, too. How scary to have that happen in the middle of the night, YIKES. I too had my baby at home (my last one, a girl) and there were a couple of "scary moments" for me, too. I am so SO happy you are just fine. Blessings to you! Enjoy that new little girl!
Love,
gena

Awesome! I love meeting other fellow homebirthers! I gave birth to all 4 of my children at home. It was the most wonderful experience. Painful, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Congratulations on your new little bundle! Sweet!!! It always seems like strange things happen to our bodies right after a baby is born. clots, more pain, strange mood swings, etc. I hated the clot part of it. I had some pretty big ones.
Congratulations again!

By the way, I think it is fabulously fun that you have all girls (although I have 3 boys)...and Rebecca Esther is a BEAUTIFUL name!
God bless you and your family,
