a little perspective

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path."
Psalm 119:105

June 6th is not the devil’s day

posted Monday, June 5, 2006 :: 8:24 AM

Tomorrow is the day some are calling the devil’s day, because the date is 06/06/06 ... the number of the beast. Tomorrow is also Zane’s birthday, and he will be two years old already. I can refute that tomorrow is the devil’s day:

This is the day that the Lord has made
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

As far as 666 being the mark of the beast; yes, it is, but not of some future antichrist. The prophecy in Revelation 13, future to John’s time in 90 A.D., has long since been fulfilled by our time of 2006.

Revelation is a prophecy of unfolding historical events, just as Daniel was. God gave Daniel a vision of what would happen in the world until the first coming of Jesus Christ. This was because He was about to stop speaking into the nation of Israel through the prophets. The people were comforted in God’s silence by noting the events occurring just as He had said they would, leading up to His entrance onto the stage of history as one of them.

Revelation follows the same pattern. In 90 A.D., God gave John a vision of what would happen in the world until the second coming of Jesus Christ. This was because He was about to stop speaking into the church of Jesus Christ through the apostles. The church was comforted in God’s silence by noting the events occurring just as He had said they would, leading up to His return onto the stage of history as King of kings and Lord of lords. The prophecy in Revelation has almost all been fulfilled by the events of history in the last 2000 years.

There are three cycles of judgments described in Revelation: seven seals, then seven trumpets, then seven vials. Then comes the marriage supper of the Lamb. The seven seals have been fulfilled, the seven trumpets have been fulfilled, and six of the seven vials have been fulfilled. We very close to the end of the gospel age.

I am going through a Bible study with one of my friends about this topic, and if anyone is interested, I will post our discussions here.

Oh my! I hadn't even thought about the date. I always thought that 666 was the mark of the beast and not the mark of the beast calendar! ROFL

I am very interested and would love to be "involved" in your discussion via your blog. How exciting for you. I would also be interested to know what you consider as having come to pass (seals and trumpets) as this is very interesting to me. I am a partial preterist and do not hold to the "Last Days Madness" that pervades the Christian culture.

Warmly,
Kate
PS: When is the Ancient book due out? :+)

I grew up Southern Baptist with Pre-Millenial Rapture eschatalogy, although I've been attending a Reformed Baptist church for about a year now.

It's hard when it's engrained in your head that that's the correct interpretation of Revelation and all the other end-times scriptures, to see other points of view, but I'm very interested in understanding what you're talking about here.
