Those harmless peace-loving activists! part VI

I note that the peace activists’ are having difficulty linking cause, effect, and responsibility.

Take the current hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. Tracing back the events to the first cause, we find Hezbollah crossing Israel’s border, then killing and capturing Israeli soldiers who were manning a border security station. If a Mexican militia, say of a drug cartel, had done the same thing to US border agents, the US would have wasted no time in declaring war on that cartel. I believe the drug cartels know this, which is why they bribe the border agents instead of kill and kidnap them.

Now Israel did not immediately unleash the war machine. The gave Lebanon and Hezbollah an avenue to avoid an all out war: return the kidnapped soldiers. Hezbollah did not, and has not, done that; but at any time if they desire to end the conflict, all they have to do is return the kidnapped soldiers and lay down arms, and hostilities will cease.

But for some reason, anger over the conflict is directed at Israel, instead of at Hezbollah. And persons who are not the Israeli government or have nothing to do with the Israeli government have been targeted for blame in the conflict.

Six American Jewish women were attacked in Seattle yesterday by a Pakistani Muslim man angered over the Israeli war. One of the women was killed. How are these women even remotely responsible for the conflict?

Prime minister John Howard of Australia had his car attacked today by crazy “peace” activists who demanded of the prime minister that the Israeli war stop immediately. And how is John Howard or Australia even remotely responsible for the conflict? Furthermore, as not even a party in the dispute, how does he have the power to stop the conflict?

I do note that if peaceful peoples do not defend themselves against tyrannical aggressors, we will in fact have peace in this world, or the complete absence of conflict, which is what these activists seem to be clamoring for. We will have peace because every last person, and every last individual liberty, will have been subdued by totalitarianism. But is that the peace these activists really want?
