So there’s the problem

If Joe Lieberman wins his Senate race in
November (he’s ahead in the polls), the Dems in the Senate are thinking
of stripping him of his seniority. While that is a truly despicable
thing to do to a man who was your VP candidate, this is really what
shocked me:
“At this point Lieberman cannot expect to just keep
his seniority,” said the aide. “He can’t run against a Democrat and
expect to waltz back to the caucus with the same seniority as before.
It would give the view that the Senate is a country club rather than
representative of a political party and political movement.”
Whaaaa??? The Senate is representative of a political party and a political movement?
And here I taught the children in civics class that Senators
represented the people and the state who elected them. Maybe this
hair-brained notion is what’s wrong with the Senate. Every Senator who
truly believes this, raise your hand, so we can vote you out.
