One question answered

While Obama claims to be a Christian, he has definitively answered the question of whether he is or not in his own words. The short answer: not in the biblical, historic sense. So the question remains: What does he consider himself, then? He is still afraid to say, which makes me wonder: What does he have to hide?
Okay, now this is getting just plain surreal. Obama himself is seen by the Muslim world as a traitor and apostate, because his father was Muslim and he left, he claims, the religion of his father for Christianity. There are still rumors out there that maybe Obama is a closet Muslim, but he vehemently denies such.
Then his biggest supporter, Oprah, who for the first time in her history is campaigning for a politician, is so into this new age Course in Miracles psuedo- Christianity that preaches a false Christ and a false gospel, that she is using her radio program for this entire year to teach the Course in Miracles to her listeners. So it could be that she feels such an affinity with Obama because he is maybe also into this new age Christianity- light with a little occultism thrown in for good measure (because that whole sovereignty of God thing makes Him so unpredictable and unreliable as a wish- granter).
Now Obama's pastor for 20 years, it is coming to light, is this radical follower of "black liberation theology," something I had never even heard of until now. World Net Daily has the full expose, but I guess Sean Hannity has been on the case also:
Barack Obama's suddenly radioactive pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has defended himself against charges of anti-Americanism and racism by referring to his foundational philosophy, the "black liberation theology" of scholars such as James Cone, who regard Jesus Christ as a "black messiah" and blacks as "the chosen people" who will only accept a god who assists their aim of destroying the "white enemy."
"If God is not for us and against white people," writes Cone, "then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community."
Obama claims he knew nothing about all of this. Now, Obama's pastor teaches this at seminaries, so how could it not ever come out in any sermons? So it could be that Obama is a closet racist who has very unbiblical ideas about God.
Then again, World Net Daily points to the opinion of an anonymous reporter, who postulates that Obama is merely using religion to get somewhere politically; and that he is neither a Muslim, a Christain, a new- ager, or a radical racist. His pastor's theology might truly be a surprise to him, because he is faking the whole I am a church- going Christian thing.
But how can we know? The fact is, the Democrats are this close to nominating a complete unknown for their choice for the highest office in the land. He doesn't have enough of a track record politically to draw on, and his claim that he will make a wise choice for President is based on ... what? His skin color? Why is he afraid for people to see who he really is, what is he hiding?
Why I am scared of McCain: he believes in the power of government to do good, and so he must exercise said power. The founding fathers believed the power of government was a necessary evil, and the less it was wielded, the better off men were.
Why I am scared of Hillary Clinton: she wants to be ruler of the free world SO BADLY. That really makes me nervous.
Even Lincoln, whose Bible- knowledge and theology was in much better shape than Obama's, refused to engage in religious debates when seeking political office. In 1846 when running for the state congress of Illinois, his opponent was a well- known preacher. After an evangelistic crusade in which the preacher, Lincoln's opponent for congress, asked:
"I observe that many responded to the first invitation to give their hearts to God and go to heaven. And I further observe that all of you save one indicated that you did not desire to go to hell. The sole exception is Mr. Lincoln, who did not respond to either invitation. May I inquire of you, Mr. Lincoln, where are you going?"
And so he did. I think it takes an appalling lack of humility and reverence for a politician to instruct the church on matters of theology; that raises all kinds of red flags for me.
Why do we want to pump millions more dollars into New Orleans when this is what is going on? The whole Carnival, Mardi Gras thing creates an atmosphere of abandoning the self- control and decency that healthy society needs to exist and flourish.
Here it is Super Tuesday, and I haven't decided who to vote for in the primaries. The Democrats are out for me. I cannot support a party that makes murder of innocent human life one of its platforms, no matter how qualified the candidates.
So that leaves McCain, Romney, Huckabee, and Ron Paul.
McCain has not made a point of declaring his Christian faith, if he is a believer. If he is an unbeliever, he has already failed in the lowest test of the level of wisdom operating in a person's life. Does anyone know? Also, I am leary of someone so well- beloved by Democrats and the media. There must be a reason. McCain on the unborn: he is pro-life and has a Senate voting record to match. McCain on homeschooling: he doesn't seem to be a supporter. McCain on borders and immigration: he will secure the border, but sounds like he might be for amnesty for illegals.
McCain on Israel: I couldn't find his position, which does not bode well.
Romney is a Mormon. I tend to think that someone deceived by a false prophet is not the best choice. Romney on the unborn: he is pro- life and anti- embryonic research. Romney on homeschooling: he seems to be a supporter and is proposing a federal homeschooling tax credit. Romney on borders and immigration: he will secure the border and is opposed to amnesty.
Romney on Israel: I couldn't find his position, which does not bode well.
Huckabee is a sincere Christian: a point in his favor. I am unsure, though, because I have learned that being a Christian does not necessarily make one wise. Of course, Christians are wiser than unbelievers, by virtue of the fact that they recognize God exists and is to be worshiped. So I am wondering if being a Christian is enough, if that is all the wisdom you have and no more. Huckabee on the unborn: he is pro-life and has a strong pro-life record as Arkansas governor, and is also opposed to embryonic research. Huckabee on homeschooling: he is a strong supporter, and also of school choice. Huckabee on borders and immigration: he is a strong supporter of enforcing our border. Huckabee on Israel: he supports Israel, and would continue financial and military support.
Ron Paul has not spoken of his faith that I could find. I do know he is a strict constitutionalist, which is a good thing. And he is a supporter of non- government regulation of alternative medicine, so that there could be true health care freedom, another good thing. Paul on the unborn: he is strongly pro-life (he was an obstetrician for decades before working in Congress, and never performed an abortion, and never saw the need for it to save the life of the mother). Paul on homeschooling: he is a strong supporter. Paul on borders and immigration: he would enforce our borders and immigration laws. Paul on Israel: he would disentangle us from foreign alliances, including Israel. He would cut off funding and military support, not only to Israel, but to every nation, as it is not a constitutionally- empowered function of government. But here is the case he made that his policy would benefit Israel.
To me, my vote is between Huckabee and Ron Paul, the two longest long shots, LOL. I am still not sure who I will vote for tonight.
The big headline on Drudge today is the landfall of hurricane Felix with 160 mph winds. Let's be praying for Mexico, where the hurricane has hit. I still note that not a single hurricane has hit Florida this year; which was supposed to be huge for hurricanes in Florida. Andrew hit in August, Charley hit in August; Katrina hit in August. So far this year it seems there has only been one tropical storm which caused "slick roads" due to rainfall. Hmmm, does not seem too much out of character for Florida. Hurricane season is by no means over, but I am still betting on the Word of God over the word of man for Florida.
The Flight 93 Memorial -- this is the flight in which Christians prayed, said, "Let's Roll," and then fought the hijackers for control of the airplane, which plunged into the Pennsylvanian countryside, killing all on board, instead of the US Capitol Building or the White House -- has been shown to have the exact features of a giant mosque, with design details mimicking the Islamic crescent and star symbol so often seen on Muslim- country flags. Worse, the design committee knows about it, and approved the design anyway! This will make the Flight 93 Memorial, in essence, a memorial to the hijackers and not to the victims or the heroes! Maybe the design committee is okay with that, are Pennsylvanians and Americans?
Happy Independence Day! We are off this morning to my daughter's for breakfast and a 4th of July parade in her town. Then grilling and barbeque, of course, then fireworks this evening. This is Gracie's first 4th, and I hope to post pics of her and her brother Zane later this week. Everyone have a blessed and relaxing day!
In positive news, the immigration bill went down in flames; this is terribly relevant because we just learned that Al Qaeda is paying a Mexican gang $50,000 a head to smuggle its operatives into the U.S. Now is hardly the time for amnesty. World Net Daily asks its readers what the government should do now that the bill has been defeated. Here's an idea: how about enforce the immigration laws we already have? Stop rewarding people for breaking the law, and stop jailing border patrol agents for doing their job.
Brigitte Gabriel spoke at our church this past weekend. She was a girl in a Christian home, in a Christian town in Lebanon, when the Islamofascists took over Lebanon in the 70s. Prior to that, Lebanon had been a predominately Christian, modern, democratic country. She described her childhood in a bomb shelter (because Islamofascists target non- Muslim women and children, and use the Muslim ones as shields and suicide bombers) and her trip to Israel with her elderly mother, who had been badly injured in a bombing. She commented that Christian nations did not come to the aid of the Lebanese Christians who were being murdered by the Islamofascists in the 70s, but that Israel did. Lebanese Christians are Arabs, but none of the Arab countries helped the Lebanese Christians during that war, but Israel did. Israel ended up occupying the southern -- Christian -- part of Lebanon to protect the Lebanese from widespread genocide at the hands of the Islamofascists. Israel opened her hospitals and treated Arab and Israeli, Muslim and Christian and Jew alike.
She told the story of the many Israelis she met, who watched over her and protected her; how she knew for a certainty that if the tables were turned and any of those Israelis were wounded in an Arab hospital, they would be killed instead of healed. She spent some time documenting the culture of hate in the Arab and Muslim world, and the propaganda concerning Christians, Jews, and the West that fills their charters, newspapers, and schoolbooks.
She documented their infiltration of this country using our porous borders. Did you know that Al Qaeda pays $50,000 a head to M-13, that notorious Mexican gang, to smuggle their operatives across the southern border? She said that illegal Mexican workers are the least of our worres; we need to secure our borders because the Islamofascists are infiltrating our country, and when they are enough, they will repeat the atrocities they perpetrated on the Lebanese here.
She was very informative. Her book, Because They Hate, tells her story and documents everything she is trying to warn us about concerning the Islamofascist agenda. She has established American Congress for Truth to give regular Americans a way to fight back, through the legislature and through countering the Islamist propoganda.
I just had to laugh when I saw this news headline this morning: Where are all the hurricanes? Several weeks ago, Florida's governor made a trip to Israel, signed several agreements for trade and commerce which will benefit both Israel and Florida, and also visited the Western Wall, asking the Lord Most High for protection from storms. The Lord Most High was paying attention to Florida's blessing of Israel, and humble acknowledgement of Himself as Lord of the storm. The experts have predicted a busy hurricane season this year, and maybe it will be for other southern states (let's hope not), but I say the Lord will continue to bless Florida.
"After months without rain, even when a hurricane was just off Jacksonville's coast and yielded nary a drop, we finally got about 16 hours of slow gentle, ground- soaking rain. Do you want to know why??? Because we supported Israel, that's why!! FL Governor Crist is in Israel until tomorrow. In the 5 days he's been there he has made trade /commerce agreements that would benefit Israel (and FL too.) Let's encourage Gov. Crist by sending him a thank-you email."
I just read this morning that Crist has sent a letter to the 49 other governors telling them of Florida's divesture from companies which do business with Iran and the Sudan, and encouraging them to follow suit.
It is interesting that Crist visited the Western Wall and left a hand- written note asking God for protection from storms for Florida. It seems some Floridians are upset that Crist made the trip, seeing it as a waste of tax money. But Crist, in my opinion, is wisely acknowledging Him who is Lord of the storm. If Florida enjoys God's blessing as a result of Crist's visit to Israel, and they do not suffer from severe hurricanes this year as they have in the past, what is that worth to Florida's economy, and the Florida taxpayer? I wish my governor would take tax money and make the same kind of trip with the same humble heart toward the Lord Most High. The post title is a reference to Deuteronomy 30:19:
"I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live."
Florida is choosing blessing and life; may the rest of the states follow suit.
The last time I blogged about the presidential hopefuls, I wished that Chuck Norris would run, if we were going to have actors run for President. But it looks like the actor which may be running for President will be Fred Thompson. So where does Fred Thompson stand on anything? Yesterday, he posted LIving in Terror on Townhall.com:
"More than 1,300 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza since Palestinians were given control two years ago. Israelis, however, have gone to incredible lengths to stop the war against them without harming Palestinian non-combatants. But make no mistake, Israel is at war. The elected Hamas government regularly repeats its official promise to destroy Israel entirely and replace it with an Islamic state. Hamas openly took credit for killing one woman and wounding dozens more last week alone."
...
"The irony is that Israel has the military might to easily win the war that is being waged against them today. They haven't used that might, in the past, out of compassion for Palestinian civilians and because it could trigger a wider regional conflict.
"That balance of power is about to change, though. If Iran develops nuclear weapons, the very existence of this tiny nation of Israel will be threatened. The Iranian regime has left little doubt that it intends to see Israel "wiped off the map.” Hamas is using the same language, not coincidentally, and has announced it will begin launching missiles into Israel from the West Bank too.
"If the world doesn't act to stop Iran's nuclear ambitions, it must be prepared for the consequences of Israel defending itself."
Okay, some common sense based in reality; I like that. Fred has moved up the list for me past Rudy and Newt. We will just have to keep an eye on him and see what else he believes.
Oh! JackLewis.net has something up about Thompson's abortion position; he would like to see Congress leave legislation on abortion to the states. Danny Carlton says, "the common term for [this position] is known as "overturning Roe."" Okay, I also like overturning Roe. More Fred Thompson positions on the issues here.

Last week I blogged about H.R. 1592, a bill which expands special rights for homo[s-x]uals and makes a federal hate crime "thoughts, feelings, and beliefs" which gays find offensive, going way beyond the standard of Western Civilization, which is to make ACTIONS criminal, based on the biblical admonition. This bill makes THOUGHTS criminal. It makes BELIEFS criminal. If you BELIEVE that the Word of God prohibits homo[s-x]ual behavior in Leviticus 18:22, then you have just broken this law of man, should it go into effect.
People, this bill passed the House yesterday evening. Similar legislation is also moving through the Senate. President Bush has threatened to veto this bill, but then there is still the possibility that he could change his mind, or his veto could be overridden by two- thirds majority in Congress. If you cherish your first amendment freedom to believe as you wish without being penalized for your beliefs, then it is past time to act. Call your senators TODAY. (The Senate version of the bill is 1105, introduced by Ted Kennedy.)
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." -Edmund Burke
Hezbollah is building a base of operations and recruitment in the Western Hemisphere, specifically Paraguay in South America. The purpose is to launch attacks against the U.S, within our own borders. I wonder if the government will now get serious about border security?
In Waco, Texas, the pro- lifers gather on a public sidewalk on the first Sunday of every month for Life Chain, in which they peacefully proclaim their opinion on abortion by silently holding signs, and praying for the unborn and their mothers. This past Sunday, however, the group was sprayed with ink shot from children's water guns, in a "drive-by" shooting style attack. Doesn't it make you all warm and fuzzy inside to know that those harmless, peace- loving activists are as committed to the first amendment rights of those they disagree with as they are their own?
All Democrats are automatically out. If someone agrees enough with the murder of the unborn to affiliate themselves with the party in which continued murder is an official position, then they have no business being president of the United States.
The next group to consider is the GOP. ::: sigh ::: If only they had backbone enough to not be scared of their own Christian and conservative base. But let's look at the field one by one. Newt Gingrich is already out for me (even though he is not officially official yet), because he admitted he is ready to use government power and bureaucracy to coerce line- toeing to the fake global warming doomsday crisis. Ooooookay, next ...
The Guiliani Truth File is enough to put Rudy out for me, too. He might as well be a Democrat in sheep's clothing.
I am afraid that by the time I get down to the bottom of the list, there will be no one left to vote for. If we are going to have actors run for president (the last actor who was elected did a wonderful job), let's have Chuck Norris. He has his head on straight, he has a solid biblical worldview, knows more American history than most currently serving politicians, has already been inured to the press and fame and all that, and he can help his Secret Service detail stop assassination attempts. He's articulate and photogenic, so maybe that will make the press happy. Plus, I think he could plausibly make the Democrats and RINOs in Congress, and the terrorists, wet their pants. Well, it can't hurt to daydream.
Congress is considering criminalizing "thoughts, feelings, and beliefs" in a new bill, H.R. 1592, which is currently before committee. The bill, supported by the majority of Democrats, and having 137 sponsors in the House, which would fast- track it for a vote, adds special protections for homo[s-x]uals which would make discrimination against them a federal hate crime, even criminalizing thoughts, feelings, and beliefs - or opinions and statements - about that lifestyle.
Many organizations have gotten on the band wagon warning the Church of the ramifications to pastors and ministries, even laypeople, should such a bill become law. Even quoting Leviticus 18:22, God's commandment against homo[s-x]ual behavior, could potentially be enough to run afoul of this "law." World Net Daily has rounded up all the facts.
At issue is the power of government. Is it granted authority to punish criminal actions only, or does its jurisdiction extend to punishing politically "incorrect" thoughts or attitudes? The Bible teaches that the state has been given authority to punish evil DOERS, thus actions only. And then there is the whole question, can the state call "good" what God has called evil?
There are already plenty of laws on the books punishing assualt, battery, murder, rape, robbery, and every other criminal action, whether it was motivated by hatred or not. In fact, if the Bible teaches that love is the fulfilling of the law, then the case can be made that all breaking of the law is already hate. Regardless, it is futile to make mere motivation without action criminal, since only God can judge the thoughts and intents of the heart. Humans simply do not have the wisdom.
If you enjoy freedom of speech and religion, then write to your legislators on both sides of the isle and urge them to vote no on this assault on the Bill of Rights.
