I did manage to get one Easter item done. I made Dana a dress. but I don't have a pic of her in it. It turned out soo cute-- she wanted it realy, really long! But, it is very adorable.
Jenna's quilt is also done except for handsewing the binding.:) |

We have most of our "plan" together for next year! This part is soooo fun!!! I love planning!! I love getting all the new stuff and planning some more!! So, here goes!! Dana: First Language Lessons Math-U-See FIAR (Volumes, Bible supplement, cookbook & holiday) Leading Little Ones to God
Dylan: 100 EZ Lessons Math-U-See FIAR Leading Little Ones to God
Nathan: Along for the ride whenever the situation dictates. Mostly listening in and playing along!!:)
I have several other resources ordered and quite a few "ideas" floating around...but this is the skeleton of my plan. We have had a great time with FIAR this year and do not intend to fix what ain't broke. Although, I am thinking of incorporating lapbooking! We'll see. We've done a few this year but I hope to do more next year. We are keeping up with our homeschool support group as well, we really enjoy it. Can't wait to get started!! I need to go plan!! |

Well, first, we have just been surviving:) Since I last blogged, my dh has done several weeks of active duty time, I have spent a few days in the hospital and now, I'm at the stage of this pregnancy that it is no longer fun and cannot sleep. I am trying to work slowly at getting things ready for the baby...and keep the regular routine up so that I don't get overwhelmed. OK, enough of the complaining!! Dana is sooo entertaining in soccer. She and her friend, Abby, just do their own thing. But, they are having a terrific time:) UPdate: No sign yet of her two front teeth.:):) Dylan is growing soo much. T-Ball wasn't exactly his thing but he gave it a shot. He has learned how to ride the really big bike (it's really a little too big for him - but he's improvising). Nathan is very TWO these days, but we are working through it. He is very excited about the baby and shows her a good deal of affection already:) It's soo sweet. He's learning how to crack jokes and "hang" with the rest of the crew. Jenna seems to have a "thing" of her own going. Her active time is around 10:00 p.m. -- during which time I usually prefer to be soundly sleeping. It's hard to believe this pregnancy is nearly over. It has really gone by quickly!!:(

Well, I cannot manage to get photos to upload properly to this blog..they are turning out to take up the entire screen. So, until I figure this out, just imagine!:)
This week is Katy and the Big Snow for us. We have identified meanings and colored street signs. We used masking tape to make a compass on the floor and played a game with that. We have viewed video footage of weather concepts and heavy machinery on unitedstreaming.com. We used the FIAR archives for most of these ideas....oh, and the snow globes with baby food jars. That was a real hit!! We still have a few more things to work through...making either a weather calendar or a weather station...we'll see how inspired I am... Also, I will have them make a town with their lincoln logs/trucks/cars/blocks and then make a map of it. The last treat of the week: mapping their rooms and having to look for the "treasure"( -- candy) where the "X" is:) We also used the Bible character supplement for study of the concept of responsibilities and how they reflect our relationship with God -- this was tied in with the Ten Commandments. Some very teachable moments with this as well!!:):) |

We had a great extended break!!! This week for FIAR, we are doing the book Grandfather's Journey. Yesterday we watched a video on birds (from unitedstreaming.com - free videos for GA homeschoolers!). It was so neat to see all their neat features....special beaks for the types of food each bird eats, etc... Amazing that God thought all that stuff through!!! In the book, three generations of family are mentioned so we discussed 3 generations of our families. We also painted our family tree....well, we painted the trees and we'll have to add in the names:) Even Nathan let off a little creative energy!! It was meant to be a fun night for us.....we had a very excitable day!!!!!! |

Well, This is my first post . I am hoping to record some things from our homeschooling journey and just our family in general. This is our first year (K) homeschooling, although next year is our first "reportable" year for the state. Currently, it is the holiday season and we are quite lax now. After the first of the year we will get down to some better consistency. We are averaging about 3-4 days per week. But we are reading leisurely a lot more and all is going well. I have not set any sort of guidelines for myself for this blog... just when I get the chance or want to record something for myself or others on the way! |
