Aug. 9, 2007 - My First Blog...
Well, this year has been a year of first and new things. We moved to Indiana, pulled our kids out of public school so that we can homeschool them, and now I have a blog, who new?
We are using Five in a Row and Beyond Five in a Row. Our classes start on Tuesday August 14,2007! We are beginning with How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World and The Boxcar Children. I just went to the library today to get some read along books. While I was there I found a book from FIAR Vol 2 for sale for $1, it is The Little Red LIghthouse and the Great Gray Bridge. I was so excited!!! Plus, I found a book on apple crafts, my 2nd grader will love doing some of those things.
I recently learned that having a time to Read Aloud to the family is important, remember I'm knew, and on the FIAR board I saw a recomondation to a book called, The Read Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. While we do have a larger county library, our town library is small (but not tiny!), and they had this book also! I was just so excited!
I am not a schedule person but have been inspired to TRY to schedule. Now, I am not setting my self up for failer here, I am going to "schedule" what book we are going to read and when we are going to read it. I don't do good with, at 1:00 we are going to do english, 2:00 math schedule. So, maybe this will work better.
Well, this is it for my first blog, maybe my next one will be better!
In Christ Love

Hey, lady! :)
You asked me (on my blog) about possibly joining us for the Pumpkin Patch field trip. Well...we've been there before (this will be our co-op's third time), and we LOVE it, but I don't think it would be worth the drive for you and your boys. It would be at least 4 hours one way. (EEK!)
I will tell you (if you have plans to row How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World), we visited a nice Apple Orchard that was in Southern IN a few years ago. I can try to look up the name of that if you'd like....just let me know.
