Update

Posted in Awesomeness

okay just wanted to update y'all on the crazy cool things that are going on in my life........

well last friday and saturday our church had a thing called the "30 Hour Famine" where the whole middle and high school youth groups fasted for thirty hours and had a lock in at the church friday night. Saturday we did multiple community service projects- it was awesome!!!!!

last tuesday I went to a medical clinic run by a church with another youth group and got to be a Pharmacy Tech for three hours!!! It was loads of fun and very insightful. The clinic is for people without any insurance and an extremely low paycheck. We prayed over everyone who wanted it, and I really felt God moving there!!!
Plus, yesterday there was a chastity rally for our small town teens! before the rally I got to share my heart with a couple of close friends.. and my FAVORITE band of ALL TIME, Keeping Sanity, was playing at the rally. They have a cd coming out soon- but just a warning, they are an emo band. EXTREME emo band. So if you don't like screaming or bashing drums and loud guitars, don't listen..... Keeping Sanity originated in the youth group I go to on sunday nights, so I find it pretty awesome that they're getting bigger. heck, one of my good gal-friends is dating Wade- one of the two background vocals and guitarists.

On top of all that, I might be getting into the Adult worship team at my church and it's almost definite that this summer I'll be singing in the Youth band as well. GOD IS GOOD!!!!!

well, that's all for now, but I'll keep y'all updated! Have a GREAT DAY!!!!

P.S look below for another story update!

CHAPTER 2 (STILL) CONTINUED.................

Esther twisted and turned. The pink was burning her, and she was falling…. Then it was blue and everything became cold as ice. She felt Hadassah’s grip on her hand tighten as they both fell into the depths of the swirl, getting sucked deeper and deeper into the pit of its stomach. Now she was being squeezed so tight she couldn’t breathe. she struggled to draw in a breath and suddenly she was being pushed, forcefully, out into the world. She landed with Hadassah and Amakihi on top of her, and Marisa lying a little to the side of them. Where was she? Everything spun and whirled….

Ryan’s worry melted away as he fell, and instinctively he knew what to do. He struggled to a standing position and Luke did the same. Then he felt panic as Luke was thrust away from him into a bright, blinding blue, and he grabbed for him. Only when he felt the fabric of Luke’s shirt in his fist did he relax. As they passed through the blue, it became difficult to breathe, and then they fell through, onto the ground. Ryan sat up, shaking his head, and looked over at Luke. A movement beyond both of them caught his eye, and he saw a girl who looked like Esther, but wore a silver dress instead of jeans and a T-shirt. He caught his breath; she was beautiful. Luke sat up, trying to catch his breath, and glanced at Ryan. “Dude, are you okay?” Ryan slowly nodded, but remained staring at the girl. Luke looked over at the same time that Esther slowly stood and helped Marisa up. He watched as both Esther and the other girl bent down and propped another girl up on a tree, while Marisa watched. Suddenly, Esther’s knees buckled and she fell. Luke was up on his feet and running before he knew what he was doing.

CHAPTER TWO CONTINUED.......

Above ground, Ryan and Luke stepped into the clearing. They had been following Esther and Marisa from the park all he way here, to try and scare them both when they walked back. “Where did they go?” Luke asked, looking around. “They were just here!” Ryan frowned. “I wonder where they went?” he asked. Luke looked around again, and his eyes fell on an object that glinted pink in the fading sunlight. “What’s this?” he asked, picking it up. It was a cell phone. He opened it, and the picture on it was of Esther and Marisa, both wearing baseball caps and cheering at a football game. Esther’s hat was backwards, and Marisa had a smudge of mustard on the corner of her lip. They were hugging each other; apparently someone had scored a goal. Marisa still held a half of a corndog, and their grins threatened to split their faces. The words underneath the picture read: GO EVERGREENS!! Evergreens was the name of Hillock high’s football team. Luke smiled his funny half smile and closed the cell phone. “hey!” he called to Ryan, who was looking around the garden. “I found Esther’s cell!” Ryan hurried over and took it. “Yeah, that’s hers. Where was it?” “By the front door,” said Luke, looking worried. He had liked Esther for a long time, even though she was determined never to give him the time of day. “I hope they’re all right.” Ryan nodded. “do you think they’re inside?” he asked. Luke shrugged. “I don’t know. Let’s find out.” He started up the stairs to the old house and opened the door. “You coming?” he looked back at Ryan, who shifted uncomfortably. “Yeah, I’m coming,” he finally said and followed.

“Wow, this place is weird,” Ryan commented as they made their way through the house. Luke nodded towards the odd looking stairs that descended to the basement. “Let’s start down there and work our way up,” he said. Ryan shrugged. “okay, whatever. You go first.” Luke slowly walked down the stairs, and Ryan followed. Soon they became aware of a faint pink glow coming from beneath them. It became stronger and stronger until when they finally stepped off of the stairs and into the room, they were almost blinded. A strange magnetism pulled them towards the source of the light, a large pink swirl that throbbed and pulsed. Together, as if in a trance, they stepped inside….

Hi, I'm back!

I haven't written in forever- now I have some awesome news!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay, so I was at youth group sunday, and it started out as fun and games, but soon turned serious. People were praying for others, and the youth pastor said, "If you need prayer raise your hand."

I didn't know why but I raised my hand, and this girl named Melissa came up to me and layed her hands on me. She started to pray, then told me things that were hidden in my heart of hearts, and god spoke to me through her. I started crying really, really hard, because everythign she said was true, and God was telling me that He knew me and my heart,  and he loved me.  Then she started talking about my singing....

Let me explain something. I have a beautiful singing voice, btu sometimes I feel like it's not good enough. She told me that God loves it when I sing to him, even when I'm alone in my room- and he's going to inspire the heavanly in me! He'll give me songs that are from the angels!!!!!!!!  I love to write songs, and I was just so blown away by this..... I rededicated my life to him that night!

JS

okay so many of you may know that I had an obsession with Jeremy Sumpter. Well, thanks to an interveiw that I found on the internet, that ship has sailed. Read this- it's an interveiw with Rachel Hurd-Wood, the girl who played Wendy in Peter Pan.

Read it, then tell me if you agree with me saying that he's a stuck up idiot!!

ANGELIC Rachel Hurd-Wood’s life has been turned into a fairytale by Peter Pan.

The 13-year-old Brit had only ever acted in a school play but she has been plucked to star as Wendy in a new film of the favorite children’s story. Today she is a movie star, praised for her big-screen debut and she is being offered a string of new parts. Fans screamed for her autograph and photographers snapped her picture at the Hollywood premiere on Saturday.

Rachel, who lives with her family near Godalming, Surrey, was chosen after a year long, worldwide hunt for the girl who wins the heart of the little boy who never grows up.

Making the film presented her with a number of first-time experiences — including kissing a boy. And she had to do it again and again for director PJ Hogan in rehearsals with 14-year-old Jeremy Sumpter, who plays Peter. She says: “We had to rehearse it a thousand times, in front of loads of people on set. “It was my first time. PJ would make us do it over and over again. He would say, ‘OK, hold that position.’ I would lean down and kiss him and our lips would be just connecting. “I would say, ‘Can I get up now?’ And PJ would reply, ‘No, hold it there!’ It would be really embarrassing as he lined up the shot. It took for ever.” Jeremy loved it. He says: “I wanted more of it. I wanted to kiss her every day!” Off set, the two would play around with the other youngsters who play the Lost Boys and Tiger Lily. “We would hang out and tease each other. She had a crush on one of the pirates.” Rachel ticks him off saying: “He would tease me, he was really rude. And he had a crush on practically everybody else in the film.”

Rachel won her role after her grandparents saw an appeal on TV about the search for an “English rose” to play Wendy Darling.
They sent her details to casting agents and persuaded Rachel, who lives with parents Philip and Sarah and brother Patrick, 12, to audition. Producer Lucy Fisher says they realized they had found their Wendy as soon as they met the pretty youngster.

She reveals: “We combed many continents to find her. We looked all over England, the US and Canada. Rachel’s a brilliant actress and a natural beauty. A true English rose. She was a total unknown, she was in a play aged about seven and that was it. She wants to be a biologist, but she is so good in the movie that I think her destiny will take her elsewhere.”

Her sentiments are echoed by director Hogan, who adds: “She is a natural. She has that star quality, the camera loves her. She is an absolute discovery.”

Despite the praise. modest Rachel says: “I can’t really believe this is all happening. It feels like a dream.” Young Jeremy claims he had a big hand in getting Rachel cast — because he fell for her. Jeremy says: “She was wonderful in the screen test and I was at PJ saying, ‘You have to cast her, she’s really hot!’ “The second time I saw her, I immediately had a crush on her. I was training on a trampoline and I started bouncing extra hard to impress her. “The trainer said, ‘Jeremy, take it easy’ but I bounced even harder and he said, ‘Get off, you’ll hurt yourself.’ But I was going even higher trying to impress her more. “I thought I would bounce really high off the trampoline and land spectacularly on the pads. “But I missed the pads by ten feet and almost killed myself.”

Rachel bursts into giggles at the memory and says: “It was funny. We get on really well. He is a good friend now.” The youngsters’ off-screen chemistry helped make up Hogan’s mind to give Rachel her role. And the friendship helped Rachel combat her nerves too. She says Jeremy, who has been acting since an early age, proved a big help to her on set when she was struck by stage fright.
Jeremy says: “Yeah, she gets really nervous. She sometimes starts to shake when she gets too nervous. “I would go up and say, ‘Rachel, calm down, these people are your family. Just joke around with them.” Rachel adds: “I just tried to breathe and relax. The whole thing was an incredible experience working with great actors like Jason Isaacs, who plays Captain Hook and Mr. Darling. “How could you not like it? It was a new adventure every day, although it was chaotic. It was great fun, a really good experience.”

For the film, the duo had to learn how to fly with the aid of high wires and to duel with swords. Both admitted they did not enjoy the flying. Rachel, whose hobbies are ice-skating, art and music, says: “It was really painful. Putting on the harness cuts off the blood to your legs and I got bruises every day. But I think it was worse for the boys.” Jeremy tells Rachel: “Yeah, I got one of my you-know-what’s caught under the strap and it was like, ‘eeeek!’.” They both liked the sword fighting much more with Rachel saying: “That was hard work but fun.”

The new version of Peter Pan is a lot more faithful to JM Barrie’s book. And Rachel has a major part as the story is told through Wendy’s eyes. Wendy also narrates most of the film and the unfulfilled love story between her and Peter is a major feature. The movie, which is released here on Boxing Day, was filmed over eight months in Australia. Rachel had to be chaperoned by her parents, who took it in turn to spend time with her Down Under. She says: “I got really, really homesick in the beginning. I would think of home constantly and wish I was there. “I would e-mail and call my friends. But then I got so busy and I got over it. Now I’ve left I miss Australia.” Rachel loved the Hollywood premiere. But she says her new-found celebrity has led to her being bullied at school by jealous boys. She says: “They are really, really annoying. They make me sick! “They are jealous and give me a hard time. But my friends are really, really good and have been very supportive. I love them for that.” Her greatest fan, Jeremy, is sure we will be seeing more of Rachel on the big screen. He says: “She is a great little actress. She will be a really big star.”

CHAPTER TWO

Esther sat down by Marisa, bending over the strange paper and its design. She hesitantly traced the dragon with her finger. Nothing happened, and Esther was grateful for that. Her hands were still trembling from the strange sensation of going through the house wall. “now, watch.” Marisa started to open it. They both heard two gasps. “What was that?” Esther asked, looking around. “I-I don’t know,” Stuttered Marisa. “come on, it was nothing,” Esther said. “Go on.” Marisa lifted the first flap, and tried to unfold the second. Immediately, a blue spark flashed and Marisa dropped it. “ooh!” she said, and stuck her finger in her mouth. “see, I told you!” she said, around the finger. Esther nodded and reached for the paper. “Here,” she said. “I’m going to look around.” She patted the trunk of the tree they were sitting on, and started to climb. “What are you doing?” Marisa called up. Esther kept on climbing. “I’m getting a better view!” she called down. Suddenly she put her hand on what felt like skin. “Eek!” the thing moved, and startled, Esther lost her balance. The thing and Esther tumbled down and hit the ground, hard. When Esther got her breath back, she looked over. It wasn’t a thing, it was a girl! Another girl climbed down from the tree and bent over the first one. “Amakihi!” She called in a soft voice, not unlike Esther’s. She looked like her, too, with long dark hair, blue eyes, and freckles sprinkled across her nose and cheeks. But there were two things different about her. One, she was wearing a long silver dress with a dark blue sash hanging down the front, and two, she had ears that were slightly pointed. Marisa sat, dumbstruck, as she looked at Amakihi. They were twins in every prospect, with long blond hair, brown eyes, and slight chubbiness. But her dress was different; she was wearing a gorgeous dark blue dress with a silver sash hanging down the front, and had pointed ears. “Hadassah,” moaned Amakihi. “What happened?” “You fell,” Hadassah said, a worried look on her face. Amakihi sat up. “I’m fine,” she said. “Just got the wind knocked out of me, that’s all.” “Are you sure?” Hadassah asked. Amakihi nodded. “Mmhmm.” Then she noticed Marisa and Esther, and gave a little shriek. “what is it?” Hadassah whirled so that she was facing Marisa and Esther. “Who are you?” she asked. “I’m Esther,” said Esther, “and this is Marisa.” “I’m Hadassah,” she said, “and this is Amakihi. We’re of the Yuno tribe. What kind of elves are you?” Esther raised her eyebrows. “Elves?” she said. “we aren’t elves! We’re humans!” Amakihi slowly stood. “humans? But you could be our twins! And what are you doing in the elfin world?” Marisa spoke up. “This isn’t your elfin world. This place is part of our human world, at least, I think so…” She trailed off, looking at the wall that Esther’s hand had gone through. “Do you know what this means?“ Esther asked, suddenly, holding out the paper. Amakihi and Hadassah looked at each other in wonder, and read the words. Then a transformation overtook the two elves, and their faces looked unearthly and strange. Slight smiles on their faces, they closed their eyes and joined hands. “Amisha e Abri sechet,” they recited, eerily, and a strong wind blew through the trees, making them tremble as if they were alive. “The magic words and curses of the elves can make anything happen,” said Hadassah, opening her eyes. They almost glowed. Marisa shrank back against the tree. Esther stood there, hair blowing in the wind, her eyes closed and head lifted to the sky. Suddenly, Amakihi and Hadassah seemed to break out of the trance, and the wind died down. Esther leveled her head and looked at Hadassah straight in the eye. “it’s yours,” she said, holding the paper out to them. Hadassah shook her head. “you have held it, and the messenger is nowhere around. The curse on the paper will come true if you do not deliver it safely to my queen.” “but we do not know how to get this back to your queen!” Cried Esther. “how do we know who to give it to, and how do we get there?” Hadassah smiled. “so many questions! But here-” she took it from Esther’s hand. “now the curse will come true for me if I do not help you.” Amakihi took it out of Hadassah’s hand. “Me, too,” she said. Marisa looked up. “I will have to go too.” “now, how do we get there?” Esther asked, accidentally dropping her cell phone and not bothering to pick it back up again. “Come!” Hadassah beckoned, and they all followed her into the strange house. It was sparkling clean, but the walls and floors shimmered and waved weirdly, as if it was all a mirage. They went down winding stairs that hardened when you stepped on them, but then went back to their original state of looking like a liquid. Down, down, down they went, until they stepped into a room that pulsed and was bathed in a pink light. It was shaped like a long hall with mirrors all down the sides, scaring them when they first saw their reflections. There was a wind down here that whistled eerily, and they were strangely drawn towards the source of light: a huge spiral of pink that revolved and pulsed.

“Come!" said Hadassah and Esther together, in one breath. "Our destinies await us!" and all together they stepped into the circle.

END OF CHAPTER ONE

“Ooh, what happened?” Amakihi slowly got up off the ground. Hadassah sat up, moaning. “I- I don’t know,” she faltered. “I guess I said the wrong thing. But where are we?” “It looks like some kind of garden….” Amakihi stood up as she said this, her legs trembling a little bit. “What is this?” She asked, fingering a yellow piece of tape that was tied on to a tree. They looked down at their dresses. “Wait,” said Amakihi. “Isn’t that the rock you were sitting on?” she pointed. Hadassah knelt and felt the rock. “Look!” she exclaimed. Her fingers traced the lines of small names chipped into the rock. “Just as it was!” Amakihi looked around. “The trees look the same, too. It’s like we are in the same spot- but there was never a garden, or a house here!” She nodded toward the large, imposing house. Hadassah started walking around. “You’re right, Ami,” she said, calling Amakihi by her nickname. “There’s something strange about this place. I can feel it.” Just then the bushes rustled. Hadassah and Amakihi looked at each other in panic and ran for a large tree. The swiftly climbed it, but in their hurry they dropped Hadassah’s embroidery basket. Soon two girls emerged from the forest. Hadassah and Amakihi looked at each other in surprise. The two girls below could’ve been their twins! “Wow, this is pretty spooky,” said the girl who looked like Hadassah. “Told you, Esther!” Amakihi’s look alike shot back. Esther slowly walked up to the house and placed her hand on it. “Whoa,” she breathed, as her hand went through the wall as if it was liquid! “Marisa, did you see that?” she turned to her friend. Marisa's eyes were wide. "This place is really spooky!!" she said. "let's go!" "No, wait," Esther called. "Show me the paper first, while no one's around." Marisa looked at the house, then parked herself a little ways away, right under the tree that Amakihi and Hadassah were sitting in. "Look," she said, and took a piece of paper out of her pocket. Amakihi's eyes got wide, and so did Hadassah's. On the piece of paper was Queen Abri's family crest!

Posted in weirdness

okay, so my mom, my sis, and I  were all watching a movie today, when we hear this awful noise. We have a woodburning stove instead of a fireplace, and it sounded like something was coming down the stove pipe. My mom started to freak, and was calling everyone she could think of. it's snowing really hard, so no one could get out to help us! She sent me over (in my pj bottoms!) to the neighbors, and they came over, laughing a litlle at my mom's freaked conditon. turns out it was a bird, so they grabbed a towel and captured the bird, letting it go outside... but it was still scary!!!!!!

CHAPTER ONE- PART THREE (yes this is a long chapter)

Posted in coolness

The monster crept stealthily towards the main road, trying to get his breathing under control. Trumpets sounded nearby, startling him. Slowly, he grinned. So like Queen Abri, so sure of her strength and magic that she forgot to be careful. That was her one weak point: her pride. She often threw caution to the wind and went on long rides, leaving her guards behind. And the next time she did? He would kill her.

His bravado disappeared, though, as a voice came from the ring on his forefinger. “Hari?” He lifted the false lid, and looked into the swirling mist that was the inside of the ring. “Hari, have you succeeded yet?” “Not yet, O, Queen.” Hari gasped, trembling, as the swirling mist became his queen’s frightful image. Her eyes narrowed. “What do you mean, Hari? Explain yourself.” her voice held a dangerous tone. He started to sweat. “She sent it by magic, Oh queen, I couldn’t get to it in time… But I slew her.” he added the last part hesitantly, knowing full well that she didn’t care. All she cared about was the message. His queen’s eyes glowed with anger. “Hari…” she said, her tone oily. “I won’t kill you- yet.” he shivered. “You are much too valuable at this time. But fail me again and you will find that I will not be as merciful.” her eyes hardened. “Go. Kill the Queen, find the message, and report back to me. Take care, Hari- we wouldn’t want you to make another mistake, would we?” Her face disappeared, and all was quiet. He quietly slid the ring closed, and shuddering again, he started off to do his awful deed.

JESUS ROKS!

Posted in Awesomeness

I feel like crying right now- but not from pain or sorrow, from Joy!

I told you our family had barely enough food and no money, and we were in a hole……..

Well, my mom could hardly stand it anymore, so last Sunday she told a good friend that all the money we had was being used up in my dad’s gas guzzling 100+ mile commute to north Denver, where he works. She asked for prayer- and this friend gave more than that.

Tonight we went to another friends house to pick up some banana bread she made for us, and picked up the mail on the way home. There was a Christmas card from mom’s friend, and it felt like it had pictures in it or something. But when my dad opened it, he found one hundred dollars worth of gift cards to the local Safeway, and a check for a large amount of money! It’s truly a Christmas miracle!!!!! After everything that happened lately, I had lost hope. Now I realize how great God really is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thx 4 ur prayers about ryan. HE's doing better now.

ok, so my dad finally got home after being stuck in denver for 2 days during " Colorado's Holiday Blizzard '06". For those of you who don't live in Colorado- it snowed 2 feet in denver, 30 inches in bubble bubble burg and surrounding areas, and had winds of up to 60mph in some places. it was a total whiteout. The governeor proclamed a state of emergency and had the army go out to free stuck cars. the POSTAL SERVICE had to shut down, if you can believe that!! THEY CLOSED OFF THE MAIN HIGHWAY- IT WAS THAT BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!   SO when daddy got back he yelled for joy and was so happy to be home. (he CRIED!)

The puppet show went great and we made it thru without noticable mistakes.   my good friends are back from vacation- but sadly another friend has gone off to arizona for break. she will be missed dearly!!

My uncle is coming up for christmas, and we have finally got our christmas shopping done! HOORAY!!!

CHAPTER ONE- PART TWO

“Ryan, will you turn that off?” The throbbing beat of Ryan‘s stereo only turned up louder. “Ryan, you heard me! Turn that off!” Esther stormed into his room. He looked up from his bed. “Oh, look who’s so high and mighty! Esther, just because you’re named after a queen, it doesn’t make you one!” Esther huffed at him. “Oh, shut up! I’m trying to study, Ryan, and besides, the neighbors told mom and dad-” “Step mom!” Ryan broke in. She glared at him, then resumed. “The neighbors told them that if they heard your stereo that loud one more time, they were calling the cops.” Ryan glared back, and for a moment, Esther was afraid that he would still refuse, but after a long pause, he rose to turn down the volume. “Thank you,” Esther said, and turned to leave, glorying in her victory. Ryan seldom listened to her, but every so often, she would get to him, make him squirm, and he would obey her. She tossed her dark hair and walked back to her room. Lying down on her bed, she reached for her cell phone and, pretending to be engrossed in her studies, called her best friend, Marisa. “Hello?” Marisa answered on the third ring. “Hey, it’s me, Esther.” “Oh, hey! What’s up?” Esther smiled. “Nothing much, except I just got my brother to listen to me!” Marisa whooped. “Yes, victory! So… I need details, Esther. What happened?” Esther sighed. “It’s barely a victory. I got him to turn down his stereo.” “Barely a victory?” Marisa asked. “He turns down his stereo for NO ONE! Be glad you got that far! So, anything else up?” “Nope,” Esther replied. “You?” “Well-” Marisa paused. “What?” Asked Esther, curious now. “I found this little piece of paper, with a strange symbol on it.” “Really?” Asked Esther, even more curious. “What’s the symbol?” “Well, it looks like a tiny dragon, flying inside of a weird looking circle,” Said Marisa, after a pause. “A weird looking circle?” Esther asked. “Yeah, it has all these wiggly lines jetting out from it, like a sun, and it has the words ‘Amisha e Abri sechet’ in small print all around the circle.” “That is weird!” Agreed Esther. “It unfolds,” Marisa added, “but I can’t get very far. It gives me this little shock whenever I try to unfold more than the first flap.” “Where did you find it?” Esther asked, half sitting up with excitement. “You know where there used to be this big wood, but they cut part of it down to make way for the new city hall?” Marisa asked. “Yeah, I know the place,” Said Esther, “go on!” “Remember when they found that house that looked like it had been there for years but no one knew it? They put police tape around it and decided to let it stay there, and built the city hall far enough away so that no one would accidentally stumble across it, replanted trees around it, and there was this huge secrecy thing?

“Well, I was walking in the woods, trying to get my sanity back after babysitting the Wilson quintuplets, and all of a sudden I’m in this part where the trees look older and the path looks like a little deer trail. So I decide to explore, and the next thing I know, I’m in this small little clearing with half rotted yellow police tape around some of the trees and this huge house in the exact center. The thing is, you would think that the house would be rotted and well, old, especially since the police tape was falling apart, you know? But it wasn’t! It looked like someone had been living there and taking good care of it!”

“Oh my gosh, are you serious?” Esther broke in.

“I am so serious, it isn’t even funny. There was even a garden!” Marisa said. “And that was where I found the paper. I was looking around, when there’s this little ‘poof!’ behind me. I was scared, but I turned anyway, and there was the paper, right there on the ground, where nothing had been a moment before. And there was this little stream of smoke rising from it!”

“Do you think you could show me where?” Esther asked. “Yeah,” Said Marisa. “I’ll meet you at the park in ten minutes.” Esther grinned. “Okay, see you then. Bye.” “Bye!” Replied Marisa as she hung up.

Esther turned off her phone and lay back on the bed, thinking. When the city hall had burned down, the city council had decided to move the location to the top of the hill that gave Hillock city its name. When they were surveying it, one of the surveyors had stumbled across an old house that was in top shape. Curious, he had looked around, and went inside the house while his pal had looked on. No one was clear on what had happened next, but the surveyor was never seen again. His pal called the police, but when they searched the house from top to bottom, they found no one, so they wrapped POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS tape around the trees. It was about three or four years ago, Esther speculated. After that incident, the City Hall was moved again and kept far away from the suspicious site. Everyone, it seemed, had forgotten about it. Now the gossip was about Luke, The mayor’s son. He had been causing trouble, roaring around on his motorcycle, breaking windows, and even going so far as to get himself expelled from Hillock Middle school. He was fifteen and in eighth grade, the same grade as Esther and Marisa. All the girls they knew had crushes on him, but Esther and Marisa agreed never to give him the time of day. He was cute and he knew it, and it made him all the more unlikable. But the worst thing was that Luke was Ryan’s best friend. Esther shook her head and stood up. Best not to brood, she reminded herself, and put on her shoes. At the last moment she grabbed her jacket and cell phone. After what had happened to the surveyor, she was taking no chances. On the way down the stairs, Ryan appeared. “Done already?” He asked, arching an eyebrow. She made a face at him and nodded, hurrying a little more. Just then she heard the all too familiar drone of a motorcycle pulling up to the curb. Groaning softly, Esther turned to Ryan. “Please, stay out of my room, both of you, or I’ll tell dad Luke was here when they were gone!” Ryan glared at me and replied, “I’ll keep it under my hat about you going out if you don’t say anything about Luke. Catch my drift?” Esther rolled her eyes at him and wrinkled her nose. “Yeah, I catch it.” “Good,” he replied, just as Lucas came in. “Hey, Ryan, hey, Queenie, how ya’ll doin?” she glared at him, then swept past him out onto the sidewalk. “What’s your problem?” he called back. Esther ignored him and continued on my way. “Luke is so annoying,” she muttered. “Queenie indeed!”
