Kindergarten here we come!

Thank you to everyone who has visited my new blog and commented to let me know you are here!     Because I've been so busy setting up this new blog and working on my 101 Things in 1001 Days list (more on that in another post) I am WAY behind on reading blogs.   I will try to get caught up soon!

So here we go!  I will begin homeschooling Lindsey the day after Labor Day as we always have done.   I plan to take her out for breakfast as I always tried to do with Ben too on the first day of school.  I started homeschooling Ben in 2nd grade so homeschooling from the beginning is new to me.  Pray for us!  Lindsey loves to write and be read to, is smart and eager to learn, but can be difficult at times (those of you who know her personally know what I'm talking about!).   And Allison is a busy little beaver, still getting into trouble at every opportunity.      So this is going to be interesting.  But I can't wait!

We are going to be using Sonlight's P4/5 curriculum along with Handwriting Without Tears and the optional Get Ready for the Code workbooks.   I tried Sonlight the very first year I homeschooled Ben but I was so new and didn't know what I was doing yet and it didn't work out for us so I sent it back.  We went on to use a hodgepodge of materials over the years which worked out well at times but not so much at others.  I have determined this go around to try to stick with one thing as much as possible to avoid floundering around and to keep things consistent.   I will be flexible, though, to stop using something that isn't working and try something else if need be.  But I do want to stick with Sonlight as much as possible.  Reading to Ben was my very favorite part of homeschooling Ben, and Lindsey loves to be read to.  I love that every day is laid out for you so I don't have to always be figuring out what we'll be doing next.  I think Sonlight is going to work out great for us this time.  I have been on the forums since Lindsey was about 18 months old waiting for this day!

Here are some pictures of Lindsey on "Box Day" which was last week Tuesday.
(Forgive the quality of the pics, I desperately need a new camera!!!)

Thanks again for joining me on my new blog!  I promise I will be over to visit yours soon!
