Palin or Tanstaafl
What is it now…14 days before Election Day between the McCain/Palin ticket and the Obama/Biden ticket? My reflections are two-fold and simple.
First, Sarah Palin has brought a breath of fresh air. I hadn’t realized how under-represented I felt as a conservative woman until John McCain’s “maverick” move in selecting Palin as his VP pick. When I heard the news, it stunned me in a positive way as I thoughtfully considered how surprising the move was; although it really shouldn’t be. Wow, a conservative woman front and center in the political arena. I think we have all gotten so use to liberal women hi-jacking a truly Christian principle of liberation of women. Jesus Christ was the first to liberate women in many respects but specifically when he chose a women to first reveal that he was the Messiah {John 14: 26}, the Samaritan woman at the well, and in choosing a woman to first personally reveal that he was risen, Mary Magdalene {John 20:17}. In so doing, Christ contradicted a deeply enduring culture that generally considered women sub-standard.
Secondly, to those supporting Obama’s economic plan of governmental funding…funding…funding…there’s just one word that comes to mind.
