Unbelievable!!!!!

Posted in just my thoughts

While reading blogs this morning, I found THIS POST BY MRS. DANI
Folks, we need to spread the word, and make people aware, and if you all know anyone in CA, make sure they know about this!!!

Here is the LINK to the news article itself.

Might as well post another news link while I'm at it....
OBAMA SAID WHAT!?
Meanwhile, Barack Obama said he needed to correct some misconceptions about his background.

"I was not born in a manger. I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father, Jor-el, to save the Planet Earth," he said, in a reference to Superman.

He also listed his great strength as "my humility" and his greatest weakness as being "a little too awesome".

What does your reluctant reader LOVE to read?

Posted in homeschool

By reluctant reader, I mean a child that does NOT like to read. At all. My dd read the first book in The Island series, (Shipwreck) over a year ago, and just recently read it again, along with the second book, "Survival", and neither one did she want to put down. (I read them, too) She read them non-stop! We own the first one, and got the second from the library, and have the third on request, and are eagerly awaiting it. I would like to read some of his other books, to see if  they are something she would like, and of course, are not inappropriate.

I know a lot of kids like the Chronicles of Narnia, but my girl didn't like them. (She liked the movie, just not reading the book-neither did I) We don't "do" H.P. I just can't bring myself to read them.

Have any of you heard of the Code bearers series? You can actually read the first book online, FREE! The authors are brothers who were home schooled, how cool is that? Check out their OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

Well, I am off for a busy day...the breakfast casserole was pretty good, but I would have liked it better with not as much green peppers, and maybe bacon instead of the Italian sausage I used. We have a lot of it leftover. (It used 12 eggs-so this would be great for large families, or company) I have got to make my bed, clean up in kitchen a little, shower, run an errand or two, babysit for a friend, go visit with other hs moms, (in other words-take dd to PE) come home, and pick up some more, and wait for our new refrigerator to be delivered. (ours is going out) I think Pizza is in order for supper tonight, even though we had Pizza for lunch yesterday!

Ya'll have a great and blessed day!

ps....I may make some coffee to take with me.....mmmmmmm

You have got to check out this GREAT crockpot cooking blog!!!

Posted in homemaking

I absolutely can not wait to try some of these recipes! Got one in the crock as I type, for breakfast in the morning...DH has to leave a little earlier than normal, and I thought it would be nice for him to have something hot for a change, instead of that bowl of cereal. Then I am going to turn right around and clean it up, so I can put supper in it, as I will be gone all day. (I need another, slightly smaller, crock pot) Anyway, here is the link for the blog. Enjoy!

rambling thoughts

Posted in just my thoughts

Sorry I have been gone so long. I guess I have just been feeling better, and so have been keeping a little busier around the house. Trying to get it in order for company on the 25th.

Well, I thought I had some rambling thoughts to blog...however, I guess the mood must have left me. You know how you have these deep, thoughtful moments, and then later you are all thought out, and can't remember what it was you were thinking about in the first place? That'd be me.

I guess part of my rambling thoughts stemmed from a conversation I had with one of my good friends today about compassion. She questioned if she had it or not, or said she guessed she wasn't very compassionate. It got me to thinking. (uh-oh) I feel like for myself, I just come by it naturally. I did not do anything to cultivate it. Not saying that in a bragging sort of way, because there are times when I wish I did not feel the way I did. It makes it hard for me to say no. Not only that, but I find my self volunteering for (some) things without even being asked. I can't help it, I truly care about others suffering. Sometimes, I try NOT to care, but it just doesn't work. So, what is your opinions, dear readers? Do you think it is something we are born with, something we learn, or something we have to work at cultivating? Can you "prioritize" your compassion? Are there "degrees" of your compassion, based on someone else's need or suffering?

Okay, on to other things.....
We are having a family reunion tomorrow, and Sunday is looking to be busy, too, but I still have a lot I want to get done.
  1. clean off kitchen table
  2. clean off the counter I just cleaned yesterday
  3. clean off the long counter in kitchen
  4. sweep and mop the kitchen, utility, and bathrooms
  5. make oatmeal cookies
  6. make mac n cheese and hot dogs for reunion lunch
  7. make beefy noodle magic for reunion supper(oops, had to buy something at deli instead)
  8. "possibly" make a chocolate mayo cake, just because
  9. pick up in living room and dust and vacuum
  10. pick up and hide er, put away stuff in computer room
  11. wash out refrigerator
  12. laundry, and dishes-always a given
  13. take down attic fan louvers and wash
  14. wash down hallway walls (what a mess!)
  15. vacuum hallway and computer room
  16. scrub everything in hall bathroom
  17. clean off mine, and hubby's dresser
  18. pick up EVERYTHING from bedroom floor (working in it)
  19. dust every surface in bedroom
  20. vacuum bedroom
  21. strip sheets, wash and flip mattress
  22. wash windows, at the very least, the inside
  23. sweep off front porch, carport, and patio
  24. wash lawn chairs
  25. clean off table from school room from last year (we went back to the kitchen table)
  26. (I have been doing the 15 minutes in one room, switch to another for 15 more, then one more room for 15 minutes, and finally a 15 minute break-whew!)
I am getting things done, slow and steady, so I am going to send this back to the date it belongs, and my newer posts will be at the top where they belong. I like it better that way.

Thanks for reading!
