I have a great tip for you if you like to go to the movies.  Consolidated Movie Theaters have what they call the summer movie magic show.  www.consolidatedmovies.com If you do not have one near you, call your local theater anyway and see if they are doing something similar.  I never see these advertised, except mabey a small place in the paper at the begining of the summer. 

These are all family friendly movies for $1a child and 1 adult free.  Right now the theater has a deal that for $6 you get a card that gets you 8 weeks of movies.  PLUS, what is a movie without popcorn!  They have a kiddie size popcorn and a kiddie size drink for only $1 each.  So for under $10 you can take 2 kids to a movie and get popcorn and enjoy the air conditioning this summer!

Now the movies usually are only shown at 10 am on Tues, Wed and Thurs.  Here is the downside.  You must get there early.  These shows fill up the theater fast.  Plan on getting there at least 30 min. before show time.  The movies are generally a few years old but still good.  They are an inexpensive fun day out.  I know a lot of homeschoolers who go to these during the summer.  We somethimes get a group together and put the adults at the ends of the rows and the kids fill up the center.
