Quick toy freeing tip for presents

Posted in money time saving ideas and lessons

It goes without saying that some really sadistic person is the one who attaches toys to the inside of the packaging.  It takes over 5 min just to free a Barbie doll from it’s prison and at least 20 min to free a Tonka truck. The smartest way to avoid the wait on Christmas morn is to “free” the toys before you wrap them up.  Of course, if you are going to a relative’s house, it helps to have the following tools ready. That way the kids can play with the toys immediately and the adults can have a chance to drink a cup of coffee and talk in peace…..for about 10 min anyhow.

These are the tools I carry in my purse for Christmas:

1) Set of wire cutters

2) Needle nose pliers

3) Scissors

4) Set of jeweler's screwdrivers

5) Stock of every kind of battery known to mankind-AA, AAA, C, D, & those little watch batteries.

Any other ideas?

LOL! No, I think you've got it covered! I don't think I've actually read anyone putting it so well. I guess we'll have to scrounge around for some tools before tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

This is a good list! And so true! They have to package those toys for their long journey from China, so we must learn to adapt. Merry Christmas.

I might throw in a pair of work gloves, though. I've cut myself on that harder than steel plastic. Ouch! Why is it manufacturers put the most work into making toy packaging child-proof?
I hope you had a lovely Christmas!

Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
