Quick tip for keeping your steel wool from rusting

Posted in money time saving ideas and lessons

Ok, I have a really neat little quick tip for you today.  Have you ever had to use steel wool to clean out a pan or stove pan or whatever, only to find it has already rusted and you only used it the day before.  Not to mention it left a rust stain on your sink?  While this stuff is cheap, it is still annoying none the less.

I picked up this tip from a buddy of mine.  When you are done using the pad, rinse it out well and shake a bit.  Put in a small Ziploc bag and put in your freezer.  This prevents it from rusting.  You don’t even have to thaw it out to use it!  I have been using the same steel wool pad for close to a year now! Once it wears out, throw it away!  You will never have to deal with rust stains on your sink or counter again!
