Great use for your old non-spill sippy cups

Posted in money time saving ideas and lessons

Ok, I know I am about to horrify some dentists somewhere. Do you have any of those wonderful non-spill sippy cups laying around?   Ah, how I loved them. I have no doubt there is a special place in heaven for the man who created them….along side the guy who created Cheerios. My dear rug in the living room and my car has been saved from many a devastating stain by these wonderful plastic creations. But when your little ones grow out of them (or perhaps they still use them)  what to do?

I held on to mine even though many of my kids are too old to use them.  I use them at night to hold cold water when the kids are sick.  Sometimes, especially around flu & cold season which we are suffering through, a child can use a sip of cold water but of course you would not dare leave a cup in their bed and we know while they are half asleep there is a good chance of knocking a glass off the bed stand and it would be nice to get at least one extra minute of sleep without the usual, “ Mommy! I’m Thirsty!” .  These sippy cups (though the child is too old) are nice because they can have a sip of water, not spill it in bed and if you nestle it in the stuffed animals on the bed, it will stay colder longer.

Wow I thought I was the only one. You're right, they are just right when you have a sick child who is staying in bed. There's no lid to screw back on (as in a water bottle) and the contents stay inside the cup. I still love them too, and am tempted at times to have the kids still use them (LOL), although they are past that age now. For sick kids, they're the BEST.
