Well it's that time again. Time to get ready for school. We had a really long break......which I didn't originally intend to take. We do year round school but this summer so much had gone on and mama just needed extra time off. So we took it. But it is winding down now and my heart is telling me it's time to start again. So we are now on a count down to zero hour. We are going to start officially on Aug. 17. We have actually already started with some science experiements...........science only . Thought it would be nice to end the summer that way and ease into school. Don't like that waking up and going...........ok well here we are ready set go!!!! I am hoping for much progress this year in the fall ............we all seem to do well in the cooler months. If we could we would all move to a colder climate. Somewhere in the mountains somewhere where the average temp is ......................40 or colder! lol. Ok well maybe sometimes I would need a 70 degree day here and there..........but only a couple! lol. We just hate heat. WE have looked into moving a few times the only trouble is finding a state that is as free as Oklahoma is about homeschooling. Hmmmm well I guess you can't have it all right? But we can dream! Ok ladies here's to ya. Good schooling. ( ohhh if anyone can see how to add me as a friend please feel free...........I cant figure out where to add anyone! ) :)

Spring cleaning! Well in my case I call it , mom's had enough and this stuff has to go cleaning! I am on a roll. Hub left for Missouri for a couple of days and boy did I have a field day!!!!! I purged and purged stuff. I craigs listed most of it but also trashed tons of..........why am I keeping that stuff!!! All this in hopes of a better cleaner, more organized stress free homeschool ( and home for that matter) atmosphere. Here's to cleaning and purging stuff!!!!

ok summer is here! How exciting.............now normally I am not a summer kinda person.........more spring and fall.  But this summer I have a good outlook on things.  Just makes me happy to think of nights under the stars doing the whole staycation thing.

 

Ohhhh and yeah I am planting my cladiums tom. Cant wait to see them.

And another thing..........ever since we took our "break" from school the two kids I was most worried about reading, and their letter recognition are doing it by leaps and bounds.

They are playing bookworm adventures that I bought last year and never played because I picked up the wrong one at the store...........but they love it! and it is a really big help . Even my 18 year old noticed and said .................ummmm mom let them use that for summer school for a while! And so I am and it is cool.  We even have to settle arguments over who gets to play next or first and longest. 

I love it!!!

Was that Noah I just saw float by?  (whistle) "HEY NOAH GIMME A LIFT?" 

 

 

Two more men down!  Oh and our general (dad) is down!  I actually have them on the road to recovery. so we will see how it goes come morning.  I tell you what it is a good thing I decided to make a huge pot of homemade chicken soup yesterday.  Fed all my troops ailing and otherwise plus my sweet neighbor who I worry about alllllll the time.  She is the grandma raising one of my kid best friends and is bad to not eat when she should incidentally she ends up in the big H. She is like most women and gets busy and forgets to take care of # 1.

 So I send extra food to them quite often.

I don't know why I just feel like she is mine to look out for but I do. 

ok well off to hydrate the clan.

I gotta tell ya Im goin through some real burn out here! We are talking major. 

So im thinking since we decided year round school is best that i need to step back and just not do it for a week or 3!   I mean cuz it's not getting done any how because I am just like scramblin trying to get everyone to do it and yeah................not happening.

So wouldn't it be better to regroup, and do what I love to do best. play enjoy my kids, organize and ...........e hem................git r done!!!! sorry had to be said.

I know my kids need the time but hey im an unschooler so we are gonna play it up big time.

besides we have been passing round a stomach bug and I don't think we can handle to much beyond literature right now.

So I guess I just need someone to tell me it's ok for me to give myself permission to take a chill pill.

I can so not believe it was 91 here today.   anyone else get that surprise heat?  I mean geez thought we would get a couple more weeks of building up to it.

Well we are doing a bit of reorganization round here.  Things have gotten a bit lax since having little Cindy lou who.  Yeah that is right I'm a Dr. Seuss fan!  lol.  Any how I just kinda got off my game of ..........well everything!  school, house ,cleaning, bed time.............well no more.......crackin down. lol

 

I just cant be mama duggar........ Imean I love her and love her family but just once I 'd like to see her have an off day.........lol.  It would make me feel so good to know that even the best of them can be like me.

It was one of those weekends where we did nothing and everything all at once.  Ever have those?  What I mean is we didn't go anywhere but we cleaned and organized and finished up a couple of tiny little projects we had going.  "whew"  Boy am I tired but boy was it great!!!!

I was supposed to go to a book fair today and had a sick child( stomache bug ) so stayed home.

I gotta say I am going back to some old favs for school during the summer.  I find that comforting.

I told hub I really wanted to write more like I used to and he says.........then do it.   I say.......I don't have time.  He says "make time".  LOL   I said sure...........no problem! lol   If it were only that simple.

Well im off dinner is almost done and I need to make my bed!  Gotta keep it nice after the big cleaning jag this weekend..............it's all about maitenence .

    What happened to the yahoo group Homeschool freecycle?  I know it existed I was a member.    This is not the first time this has happened either.  I have had that happen with a couple of groups.   So dear owners if you are disbanding a group send out a mass e mail so at least we know what is going on.......awful to be sitting at the puter and scratching your head going.......HUH?

   No not Christmas........school!   Ok so Christmas is first but I love starting back up after an extended period off.  Just so much fun to go and get new pencils and paper.  The to plan and see the kids get excited and ohhhh even better to see them go .......mooooommmmaaahhhhhh we were supposed to start school today!!! When you had to delay just a couple more days.  That is the best feeling........don't you think?   I sure do.

 

I am 2 kids off these days!!! LOL.   Yup 2 of my birdies flew the nest to go and seek their fortunes and try and avoid the big bad wolf!!!    Both are off living on their own and just dropping in for a visit or a quick e mail.  Oh and there are the phone calls........ohh you know the ones where it is your newly "adult " child saying ohhh mommy how do I do this or that, or could you get so and so for me?  Ahhhhh yes the .........we are adult thing is great.  I mean my goodness why wouldn't it be........they have all the answers!!! At least until something actually came up or they were not sure which person they were listening to was right or wrong. 

 

 

Remember those days folks? Not too long ago when it was you and I going through the same thing.   Newly found independence and NOBODY can tell me what to do!!!!   ummm now could um you please tell me what to do????? LOL.......ahhhhhh youth!

   My phone was out for 3 days!   Oh, and not just my phone, the whole neighborhood had no phone service!!   Which , since we all live out in the country also meant no dial up acess!   Someone cut a major line so ....uhh yeah......not good.    All these guys......and we saw where it was and the umm "pros" that did it, had to do was call okie dig and they would have come and, for free mind you, marked all the stuff to watch for.  arghhh.

 

Oh well no use  over spilt milk ehhh? Or is it spilled milk...hmmm spilt yeah that is right.

 

Ok well happy 4th to all!!!!!!

    You know what two words I really despise?  I CAN'T!!!  Really gets under my craw!!!   I have been hearing that a lot lately. From everyone I know!  What is the deal?  Look can't usually boils down to want.......we don't want to this or that.  Are there some true cant's?  Sure ......but very few. 

 

If you don't want to then say ......hey yeah ya know what......uh uh.  At least that is honest.   I would list some of the I cants I have heard lately but the list would be huge and well honestly I am tired.   Ohhh believe me they run the gamut of things.  The list of I cant's is as long as your imagination!    Big kids, little kids, teachers, officials, family, strangers, friends........yup and even I the hater of cant's well I have had a couple myself.   But it was not until upon hearing everyone else's list of can'ts that I realized just exactly how much I DESPISE THOSE WORDS.

  Ok, update on my unwanted "critters".  They are so still here!!!!! 

I am at a loss of what to do.   So far that is 2 professionals, 2 batches of different sprays, boric acid, and raid fumigators.  They don't even seem to be any less! 

 

The former owners took the lady who rented to court and they had the pros. that were here testify to just how bad the bugs were here.  They also took video of everything she tore up.......which really was not too bad. We have fixed most of that stuff alread.  

I would fix a thousand holes if I could get rid of the problem I currently have.  I have looked things up on the internet and everything. 

 

Anyone out there know what I could try.   Ohh and not getting lizards.................yet.....I am considering it though.   LOL.  Well would be an excuse to get some new pets. 

 

So other news.  I went to our local Book benevolance today......it is a resource for homeschoolers open once a month on the 3rd sat. of the month and you can go and dig through and get books and things.  I found some pretty nifty things for the kids to use.  

Now see free books for folks like me.........well that can be bad........I love books like alcoholics like liquor!  I see book stores or books in garage sales and I start to salavate and sweat and get all jittery.  

Sooooo needless to say today I fed my addiction with 2 good sized boxes of books plus on wal mart sack!!

Ohhh I got stuff I will use and couple of them were rather large; such as the international encyclopedia that is one big book now let me tell ya.  But it was like new and I plan on really utilizing it.

 

ohhhh and while I was gone my husband who kept all the kids so I could go dig through books kept all of the kids and finished my porch!!! it is all covered now!!! such a cute little deck out there!!! cant wait to sit out there this fall in all my big tummy glory.  thanks hubby!!!! I wuv you much!!!

 

 

Thank goodness!!!  That was the most tiresome camping I have ever done!!! I was even in my own back yard! So go figure.  I was so busy trying to rangle the baby away from the fire   that I didn't get to do any pioneery type things or even read to the kids.   Then when we could finally all go back in all i wanted to do was sleep    . 

 

ohh and does Pat Robertson irritate anyone but me?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!1

   Well sort of .  We are setting up the tent in the yard........which if you have ever been camping at the lake and the camp sites usually all have trees around them and grass and rocks........well that is what our place is like . Minus the lake.   Our little acre "ranch" is just lovely that way .....trees everywhere.  Everyone says ...... hey it's like being at the lake.    I affectionately like to call it Camp Matchen or The Big M  Ranch!  

 

Ok back to camping out.  The lovely person who used to live here left us a lovely present.......not to elaborate as it sickens me but those things you need to buy little black motels for! Sooooooo any how we have had 2 different exterminators out here and all they seem to do is flush them all out.   It is so bad that ughhh they come out even in the day time.    So enough is enough.  I have only ever had this problem one other time in my life and the only thing that worked was fumigators.   Not aresol bombs .......fumigators.   We had to do it 2 times but it worked and after the first time it was 90 % better.   So I broke down and bought some.  So we are going to go out in a while when it is really cool out and let er rip!!!!!

 

I had planned to read to the kids by the fire but I am soooooo tired we may just have to settle for letting the kids tell stories.  

 

Hub fixed the ac........well fixed the vent so now it is much more bearable in the house. 

  Funny we just got it cool in here and have to turn it off and go out!!!! lol. oh well such is life .......just thankful that we have one to cool us.

 

Lets see what all the kids learn tonight!!!!

   Usually I am a year round schooling mom.  Just seems to work better that way. But since the move and all the things going on(new baby and my craving for sleep) I have just spent the summer trying not to feel overwhelmed.

 

Ohhh and another lovely event happened yesterday...THE AC WENT OUT!!!  Well it still works but something got under our house and tore up all of the duct work.  Ahhhh critters. Sooooo having no money to buy it all we are going to do something that is not nearly as pretty but effective.  Salvage enough duct to run the intake and the output into two seperate windows.  Works great just does not look real purdy! We have had to do this a few years ago in a rent house where the land lord would not put in ac.  So my dad gave us a central unit and we hooked it up via the windows.  We are surviving pretty well at night with fans as it is pretty cool.  There is a little window unit in our room and we are cosleepers so that helps my husband sleep.....the ac not the kids. lol

 

So I am thinking .......hmmmmm I can trap them in the only cool room in the house and get some school started if I just organize it! ha ha! (scary diabolical laugh)

 

Well we will see how that goes. Progress reports to come.
