Consider The Lilies - Luke 12:27
• Aug. 27, 2008 - Tuesday's doctor appt. update
Yesterday's appt. went okay. The children got to spend a wonderful 2 hours with Great-Grandma. G won both a game of Skip-bo & Uno. I apparently need to teach them to play Phase 10 - a new game that Grandma is learning to play with her lady friends. They took GG out for a walk around her apartment building and then sat in the sun with her. I have instructions for Friday to bring a ball so they can all play catch (you can just see the 87 year old playing ball - right?).
I did another Non-Stress test yesterday. Jr. was not cooperative - worse than last time. While he was active enough, it was his activity that cause the problems. He seriously seems to hate the doppler that is monitoring his heart rate. I would find the heartbeat and he would move shortly there after. The nurse and I played a game of cat and mouse with him. The non-stress tests are starting to stress me out because it is such a pain. This is the same baby that kicks the doppler when the doctor uses it for all of 15-20 seconds on the table in the exam room. So, I think something about it bothers him (thus, bothering me) - as I sit here and type, he is on the move, lol!
I had a couple of elevated BP readings on Monday. Not very high, but high enough above normal to concern both the doctor an myself. Since they returned to normal (and have mostly stayed there - other than when en route to the doctor's office and shortly there after - as typical), I did not call her, knowing I would see her the next day - and continued to monitor them until then.
Because of those readings, on top of the lab work that she ordered (which I was expecting to get to do this week - we had not done it in a couple of weeks), I get to come back in Friday for Yet Another NonStress Test & office visit and I will drop off my 24 hour collection at that point in time.
This week is the first Major hurdle to jump. We are clearing the 34 week mark this week. Jr's lungs should be producing plenty of surfactant starting this week - thus making it much safer for him to be born. My mom told me long ago that my not so little brother was born 6 weeks early. He is 6'3", has a fabulous IQ, jumped out of airplanes for the military, is a Dad, still has his absolutely huge ego that he had as a toddler - hence, he is as normal as he is gonna get (haha D - yes, of course your older sister loves you - I did not guess at your weight and put it here, did I?!!). So, to me, once we clear this week, to some extent, all bets are off. Our next goal is to clear 36 weeks (and preferably 37 weeks). That is not very far away at all, right now! (try about 23 days for clearing 37 weeks!!!) Yikes!
We have been very blessed with families from church bringing us periodic meals (a couple times a week). Those couple of meals have worked into covering a large portion of the week because of leftovers, etc. Last week, because of friends who added to it, we only had to cook once or twice. A blessing for me and a relief for my husband, to be sure.
Okay, this is starting to get rather long, so I will wrap it up and head to my couch for the rest of the day. One of my friends is coming over with lunch and her children, so my children are doing dishes & laundry right now - looking forward to the reprieve, lol! |
