Consider The Lilies - Luke 12:27

• Sep. 3, 2008 - Rainy Days/ Thank yous

Posted in Home Life
Okay, so it only rained a bit this morning.  But after the heat of the weekend, I am grateful to be able to turn off the a.c. and open my windows again.  Tomorrow we hurricane remnants and rain all day.

Amazingly, the cloudy/rainy morning seemed to be what the children needed to get in gear this morning and get their lessons accomplished in less than 10 hours (I am only slightly joking - perhaps that is the source of the bp issues....).

I had been debating about asking for help with the weeding from church (gotta love a church full of homeschooling families) and then kept putting it off - I hate asking for help (that pride thing again).  Then on Sunday, a lady that lives just a couple of miles from us came up to me and said that God had put it on her heart to ask if she could come weed our garden!  God knew our needs and once again answered!  Dh has been so overwhelmed with stuff around the house that the weeds had all but taken over the garden (well, the corn was rather hard to be taken over - lowest weed area in the garden, lol!).

We have sooo enjoyed the meals that we have been provided - often times, highly unexpected.  T - those meatballs & sauce were fabulous - a huge thank you for that spaghetti dinner!!  My dh says thank you for giving him the recipes for them. G likes to make meatballs with Daddy and they now have a really yummy recipe for them.  They make big batches of meatballs and freeze them.  How is that for a father/son activity!?!?  M & G had a blast with L (I enjoyed the chatting!!).

2-3 different friends have come with their children for lunch and play.  We have all enjoyed the company and the yummy lunches (Big thanks to K, C & S).  These times have been such a blessing for us.  Otherwise, lunch is most often what my mom would have called a "fend for yourself" meal.  Oh, there is plenty of food in the house, but I do limited assistance on it these days - very limited.  The children know how to run the stove and the microwave (yes we have a microwave in the house again for the time being - thank you, M aka anonymous commenter, heehee).  But still - I feel like my children are missing out with me not making lunch for them.

I put rice on to cook for dinner tonight (M put the mix for Lentil & Rice soup in the crockpot) - we like a little extra rice in the soup.  I made extra knowing that M will eat it with vegi's for lunches for the rest of the week.  The least I can do, I suppose.  Mommy guilt setting in, I suppose.

Anyway, I should add a blurb in here about Tues. appt for the curious, caring minds who want to know.  Yesterday went well.  No lab work this week.  Jr. cooperated nicely for the non-stress test.  Guess he likes Culver's Lemon-Ice Smoothies as much as mom does, heehee!

I so wish I could have the car and just come visit with you. I'm very glad you are having the company you need right now. I sure miss talking with you. I am so looking forward to chatting with you and seeing the little one.
