Mar. 5, 2009 - Spring's Return

Nature,
Birds,
Trees,
Wind.
Not dead.
Alive.
With a song inside.
Not all can hear
Only the attentive.
For they do not choose to let everyone know.
A chorus of the wind,
Moving through the trees,
A hushed voice,
Cold,
Yet tender,
The only voice the wind forest in Winter.
The piping of little birds comes next.
Little shrills through the wood,
The first to return,
Full of joy,
For the Spring.
There then is a chatter in the trees,
Yet we know no cause for fear,
Our bushy-tailed friend must have his say,
For what would the forest be,
Without the squirrel?
There are those in the forest who cannot speak for themselves.
They need the winds' help,
To make their beings known.
The smells of the earth,
They are,
The warm soil,
Dead leaves,
They make no sound,
Yet they add to the song.
The trees spread their leaves,
They rustle in the wind,
And make fancy shadows,
On the floor below them.
Water too,
Must play his part.
Weather in creek,
River,
Or rain,
Is uncertain.
The tinkling sound,
Like little bells,
Without which the song would never be complete.
Soft, the song starts,
But slowly growing louder,
Growing more intense,
As March passes on,
As the air warms.
Then all of a sudden,
As June slowly enters,
It reaches it's full hight,
Birds,
Beasts,
Flowers,
Trees,
Water,
Grass,
All must do their part in the song.
The world is green now,
Summer is come.
- Elizabeth Svedas

Hmm, I'm not sure what I think of this poet.  I like the idea of the poem, but parts of it seem rough... still, it's better than the poet that preformed at the inauguration, and it feels kind of like today. The weather is very warm today, and the smell of fresh soil is on the air. Anyway, comment and let me know if you like this poem! I've gotten so few comments lately!

Hello, Katie!

Just wanted you to know that the prologue to TP is up...if you wish to read it. :)

I am happy to hear that you updated Audra! I'll read that next chapter when I have the chance!

And yes, I agree. It really does feel like spring now; however, I wonder just to how long it will last. Will we get more snow and rain? Pretty likely. Oh well, one can hope.

well I'd definetly have to say love this poem. I live in the desert, so trees, or anyhing else green, with the excetption of palm trees and cactuses, are very rare. I used to live in washington, where it was always very green, so kind of have a passion for nature. So I guess I might be a bit bias in saying this, but i loved the poem. =)

I know just what you're talking about comment-wise. Sometimes I just get this flood of comments, then everyone flies to the Antarctic without me. We can stay here in warmer territory together....

*starts whining* Katie, that post about Sparkie...you actually made me cry. We had a dear, darling dog who we had to put down a little more than a year ago. Now we have a lickety, squirmy, black, cute, sweet, small, adorable puppy named Sadie, and we love her very much, but no one can ever take the place of Benjy. We loved him...

Well, enough sentimental stuff. Life goes on. *squares shoulders* I must go...*waves handkerchief*

Love,
Laurie/Aradelle

*stares at you wide-eyed*

I have yet to read chapter seven or eight, and that is because I'm a bit grounded at the moment. I will certainly read and comment as soon as I can, though!!

Ahead of me? *looks confused* You've always been ahead of me, or so I thought... ^^

How are you doing? I only ever hear from you now when a new chapter is up!

It's okay! I've been busy too. I have like 15 books on my desk to read, and I have no time in the day to touch them! It bugs me, because I love reading and think reading is just as important as writing.

A chapter a day! I can't manage that, though my chapters are like 8,000 words long. Gak.

I'm doing fine. My writing is coming okay. I am working on the fifth chapter at the moment, now as I write, actually. And that's perfectly fine. All I have up is the prologue for TP and the summary for both stories.

Nothing else is new, really. I have contest tomorrow for choir; we go sing for a judge and get graded basically. I hope I do well! And I found a new band to listen to: Blackmore's Night. I went to Cherise's blog and found their songs and I love them! Very inspiring!

OOOOH. I do wish you luck. Get this, Katie. I have to finish my novel by JUNE. Less than three months! AH! *pulls out hair* And I have eight more chapters to go!!!

*whines*
