Warning...rant...proceed with caution;)

There is talk in the Christian circles of boycotting the Olympics because of where it is this time...

I am having trouble following why its necessary, let alone helpful on any level.  First of all, I GET where its coming from.  They are Communist, horrible to families, hate my creator (as a Government), give no human rights to their people AND put lead in our toys, etc, etc, etc.  But what purpose on any eternal level does it serve?  What does it DO???

Why not support our athletes and use it to pray for all the Christian organizations that are using this event as a ministry opportunity and for the Chinese people in general!  Why not just PRAY!

We as a nation commit infanticide almost FIVE THOUSAND TIMES A DAY!  We are more worthy to host an event like the Olympics?  Where is the *Christian*-Boycott-line-in-the-sand?

I know I am really really simplifying the issue, but we as Trinity believers NEED to PRAY and infiltrate, not boycott.  (Boycott things MADE in China if you MUST boycott!) 

I think I got it all out, what are your thoughts?

At first I was a little nervous clicking on your link but figured there was no way you were actually IN support of a boycott...thank goodness you aren't - I'd have to end my friendship :-)
I totally agree - it's like saying don't do anything in the world (stay in our little church boxes and never leave) so it doesn't contaminate us...how will we share the gospel if we are only around Christians?
Not to mention, I love the Olympics - for my 30th b-day we went to a hotel and it was the opening ceremony (Athens Olympics) - we watched tv instead of going out :-)
Does that show what a lame-o I am :-)
