Helen blew out the candles. The cake was homemade by Mom, it had strawberry icing and chocolate icing saying "Happy Birthday, Helen" and the inside of the cake itself was chocolate.  Helen cut the cake and Mom scooped ice cream and the two of them passed the pieces to the people in the party. There was her family and four friends, Hatty Sherwin, Lizzy Warren, Josie Hans, and Betty Highmore. They ate and joked around. Afterward she opened her gifts. Hatty gave Helen "Nala's Tales" on blu-ray disc. Lizzy gave her a set of Nancy Drew books. Josie gave her a laptop.  Betty gave her a card and $20. The entire family put their money together to give her an IPod. But Caedmon  made her a gift. (Caedmon was an inventor) he made her a watch that was a phone, had games, could be a remote to any TV, had a dictionary had a light, had audio books, had music, was a clock and could record voices. As Hatty, Lizzy, Josie, and Betty left she thanked them for coming and then sat and played with her watch.

A Yellow Volkswagon Beetle

Helen was working in Jack in the Box as a cashier.  "I would like..." was ringing in her ears, my was she looking forward to going home.  When her shift was over she called Mom's cellphone.

"Mom would you pick me up?" she asked, wearily.

"Yes,dear, I'm already coming," said Mom.

When Mom came to Jack in the Box Helen ran into the car. Mom drove away and then turned left instead of right.

"Mom, where are we going?" asked Helen.

"I'm taking you to get your award for getting straight A's for a month, I'm getting you a new car," said Mom.

Helen smiled, "Really?"

"Yes," said Mom, driving into a VolksWagon place.

"Choose yourself a car," said Mom.

Helen looked around and saw a Volkswagon Beetle.

"Oh Cool! Mom you've got to see this bug!" she said, excitedly.

Mom came and smiled, "It is cute, okay, I'll buy it for you."

"Thank you, Mom," said Helen excitedly.

Mom left and came back little later and gave her some papers and keys and said, "Meet you at home."

"OK," said Helen, hugging Mom.

She drove home and drove up the driveway and parked in the garage. Then she
went to bed.

Saturday August 1, 2043
The Experiment

Helen woke up, she wasn't in her room, she was in a laboratory of some sort. She was strapped to a medical table. A man stood above her with a shot of blue liquid.

"What are you doing?" asked Helen.

"Oh finally, you're up," said the man, "My name is Doctor Hans, and this is my daughter, Josie."

Josie had another shot with green liquid.

"Josie!" said Helen struggling, "What's happening?"

Josie smiled, "We are experimenting on you."

"We've tried this on rats and all it's done is made them die, I want to try it on a human," said Dr. Hans.

"So, you chose me," said Helen.

"Ah, yes, now," said Dr. Hans getting the shot closer to Helen's arm.

"I didn't give you my OK," said Helen.

"I don't need your OK to do this," said Dr. Hans and he put the shot into Helen's arm. Then Josie did the same.

Helen saw blackness and then she found herself in her bed.

"Helen, time to go to work," said Mom.

The Power of Speed

Helen was playing outside with her 3-year-old brother, Kale, while Caedmon talked to her about problems with his latest invention. He was making boots that were able to rocket you into the sky and he needed some help, although Helen wasn't good at making inventions.  He asked her what she thought about it.

"Maybe you need to quicken the boost," said Helen.

"Thanks I'll try that out," said Caedmon, smiling then he saw Kale running after his rolling ball and Helen looked over and saw him too, and a car coming! She ran, faster than anyone could. Then she grabbed Kale and the ball rolled to the other side of the road and the car sped by. She gently pulled Kale towards the house, he struggled all the way, trying to get his ball.

"Caedmon, would you get Kale's ball, please," said Helen.

Caedmon was shocked, he didn't move, "Whoa, How did you run like that?"

"I don't know," said Helen shrugging.

Helen took Kale into the house and called to Mom, "Kale ran into the road, would you talk to him?"

"Yes, dear," she came over with a stern look on her face and Helen left.

Training to be a Superhero

"I'm going to be a superhero, Caedmon, will you train me?" asked Helen, she was washing her Volkswagon Beetle with Caedmon.

"You're going to be a superhero?" said Caedmon, "What gave you an idea like that?"

"Well, I always wanted to save lives whether having to be a firefighter, or be an EMT, so this is my chance." said Helen wetting her sponge in the soapy water and placing it onto the bug, "and I wanted to tell you that last night I found another power,"

"What was it?" said Caedmon, excitedly.

"My claws," said Helen, extending claws from her fingertips.

"Wow, you're cool!" said Caedmon, smiling, "Alright, I'll train you."

Caedmon was a black belt in martial arts and was very good at swimming. They had a swimming pool of their own that he had her train some more on swimming. He trained her in martial arts and she was as good as him. He helped her with her cartwheels and back flips.

The Cougar and Cubbie the Bug

Running towards a man who had stolen from a bank, The Cougar kicked his back and the man fell face down. The Cougar grabbed the back of his shirt and pulled him to his feet and tied him to a lamppost.

"The police will be here soon to collect you," said the Cougar, jumping into the air and landing on the top of a house.

Helen was getting out of her superhero outfit and going to Caedmon's room she said, "It was a good night, I tied up the thief for the police."

"Wonderful, Helen, you're going to make a good superhero!" said Caedmon, "Now for a name for your car. How's C.U.B.?"

"Why C.U.B.?" asked Helen.

"I computerized him..." said Caedmon.

"You what? Wow, Caedmon, you're a good inventor!" said Helen.

"...Well, as I was saying, C.U.B. means Computerized Utility Bug," said Caedmon, "He has a stunning laser, to put people to sleep and not kill them, and he can talk back to you."

"Really?" said Helen, excitedly, "Cubbie, I'll name him Cubbie, it's cuter, Cub and Cubbie.

"Perfect," said Caedmon, laughing.

They went outside to look at Cubbie. Helen went into him and said, "Cubbie?"

"Mistress?" said Cubbie.

"He's perfect, Caedmon!" said Helen, hugging Caedmon.

"Then drive him, I'll tell Mom that you went to Hobby Lobby!" said Caedmon, patting Cubbie.

She put the key in and started the engine and drove off. She drove to Hobby Lobby and parked. When she parked she saw Hatty was closing her door and walking away.


"Now, Cubbie, if you can drive yourself, don't, stay here," said Helen.

"Affirmative, Mistress," said Cubbie.

Helen got out, locked the doors and called to Hatty, "Hatty, wait up!" She walked quickly to her.

"Hello, Helen," said Hatty, happily.

"Hi, how are you?" asked Helen.

"I'm OK, I'm just going to look around Hobby Lobby," said Hatty.

"I'm going to look around Hobby Lobby myself," said Helen, "Want to go together?"

"Sure," said Hatty.

Fire Rescue

Helen's Watch's phone rang as she was taking Kent, Kate and Kale for trick-or-treating with Bartholomew helping in the mall. She clicked a button to pick it up.

"Hello?" she said.

"Helen, there's a fire down Alcott Street, do you want to help the firemen by getting everyone out?" asked Caedmon.

"Wait a minute, Caedmon," said Helen, "Bartholomew, would you take over Kent, Kate and Kale, please?"

"Sure," said Bartholomew.

"OK, Caedmon, I'll do it," said Helen.

She ran into the bathroom and took off her clothes, there was The Cougar's superhero suit under her clothes, she ran out and jumped into Cubbie, driving towards the fire in Alcott Street. When she parked and went into the fiery house she got a girl from it. She ran towards a window, she jumped on the burning roof and climbed down a porch support.

She put the girl down, and ran off.

Helen returned to the mall, washing the ashes off her, she put her clothes back on and went back to Bartholomew, Kent, Kate, and Kale.

"I can take over now Bartholomew," she said.
