..emily..sue 6:23 PM - Sep. 22, 2009 - comments {5} - post commentYes! I Am Back! (if any of you missed me...)A lot has been happening lately. Youth started last Thursday, and I went again last night at 7:00pm. I really like it; it is a lot of fun. James, my 11-soon-to-be-12-year-old brother has just started Junior Youth (I'm in Senior) last week as well. He and a friend are going to each other's churches, trying them out. I think James likes our church's better, while his friend likes his better. I wonder if they are having loyalty issues . . . ? Quizzing has also started! Yay! I'm memorizing 1 Corinthians 1 and 5...and my two best-ish friends at church have the same as me. My one friend, Josh, purposely got the same as me and Bethany. Oh joy. He and Bethany are . . . competitive. Deadly competitive. ' ' Here are pictures of my quiz book, before and after--sorry they are sideways:
Before . . . .
And after . . . yes, that is Snoopy dancing on the front. If you want it clearer, click on the picture and it should open a new win- dow . . . .
So those are the pictures of my quiz book. On the back of the 'After' one, I stamped (I stamped everything on it) "With God all things are possible - Matthew 19:26". I really like it. After the picture was taken, I added a five-strand-braid bookmark which I taped in the front so it can be used anywhere in the book and won't get lost. I especially like the Snoopy stamp. : ) Here are the first three of this week's verses, 1 Cor. 1:7 - 12; tell me if I'm right!
7 - Therefore, you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 - He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 - God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
Am I right? Please leave a comment! By the way, I'm memorizing with the New Internation Version--the NIV. My birthday was also this past Monday, on the 14th--I turned 14, so it was my 'Lucky Birthday', according to a recently-made-up family tradition. :D I got:
- A Scientific calculator (from my parents and Tante Wilma--I'm not really sure who payed for it, etc.) - A little decorative tin flower pot(from Tante Wilma--I'm using it to keep my MP3 stuff in) - Enough money to buy myself a Sony MP3 (from Mom and Dad and my brothers) - A 60-pack of pencil crayons (from Tante Wilma) - A new watchband--my old one was literally falling apart (from Mom and Dad) - One my grandpa's old pure silver Dutch cufflink made into a necklace (from Grandma and Grandpa) - A knitted doll that looks like me (from Grandma and Grandpa)
I think that's the bulk of it; I also got a new recipe book from Melissa (K.) when I went to her house this past July. I can't believe it's soon going to be October! Well, in two weeks . . . . Also, it's my friend Bethany (Anneke)'s birthday this Monday, so if you could wish her a joyful birthday, I'm sure she would appreciate it. I think that's about all my news for now; I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted! It seems like just a few days. I guess it's 'cause I've been rather busy.
May God be with you, ..emily..sue 5:41 PM - Sep. 17, 2009 - comments {6} - post commentMy TOTALLY Interesting Life!! Just Kidding.I'll give you three guesses on how I'm feeling right now, based on the title--and this sentence. Because I wouldn't be writing this sentence if I wasn't feeling...this way. If you're - - - - - , then go watch VeggieTales Silly Song with Larry movie entitled, "The Cheeseburger Song" on YouTube--just search it or another Silly Song. If you aren't allowed to watch anything on YouTube (I'm not allowed to, but I'm allowed to watch the good old VeggieTales songs on it), then...buy the movies!! : ) If you weren't entertained by it, or laughing at it, then have fun being - - - - - . If you were totally taking that seriously, like a soap opera, then...I...well, you should watch less soap operas. Now, comment and try to guess what I'm feeling right now. Hint: five letters. _ _ _ _ _ . Have fun. Oh, I know something I can post!

5:06 PM - Sep. 11, 2009 - comments {4} - post commentProvincial Park Labour Day MondayOn Monday, we went to a local provincial park. I obviously can't say which one; but it didn't have much at it. Like, one trail, an okay beach, and nothing really signifigant in it. It was also pretty small. Thus only one trail. We got there between 11:00am and 12:00pm. I think. Because us kids were pretty bored, we left at about 2:00pm and went to a little village and ate a place called Lighthouse Inn. I don't think I'll do pictures today; maybe I'll do some some other time...but don't count on anything. : ) While we were eating at the restaurant, we had some...interesting conversations, let's call it. The restaurant was on a marina, thus the main topic of conversation. James happened to bring up that Uncle Tony, when he was a teenager, spray painted on a cliff of another provincial park. Dad corrected Mom, who missed the story, "Uncle Tony spray painted on the cleft of a rock." Stephen, who apparently missed the story as well, confirms, "Uncle Tony caught a fish and spray painted it?" Another story Dad told occured several years ago. I was about five or six, and that particular day I was watching, with James, the birds on the deck railing in our backyard. I asked, "I wonder how birds mate?" James, with all the simple wisdom of a three-year-old, answered, "They're just like people--they go to the minister, get married, then they're mated." At the yardsale, we sold several things. We also bought a few things. One of them was an exercise bike for $25. Stephen testing it out:
Stephen...the bike was such a novelty, and especially while watching TV-- though Stephen isn't here.
Anyway, that's about it for now; I might not post much Simple Maiden's Daybook, though I am doing it by myself--like, just not putting it on my blog. Quizzing starts Sunday, and I've only memorized a few verses. Someone look up 1 Corinthians 1:1 - 2 and tell me if I'm right:
(1) Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes (I've dubbed him S. O. S. pad) (2) To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord and ours:
I will admit that I reviewed them a bit before I typed them out. Anyway, I have to go...
Emily _ Sue
P. S. Which signature do you think looks better: Emily _ Sue or _ Emily Sue?
5:11 PM - Sep. 9, 2009 - comments {0} - post commentNew Music PlayerI got a new music player, and I like it! Thanks, Becca! I finally figured it out...just kidding. It didn't take too long. I am very proud of myself for figuring where to put the code on my template. :D Bethany, if you stay on my blog long enough, you will hear a song you like. As in, really like--if you still do. Becca, I still have one problem--the title and artist of songs are too light to see. How can I fix this? Is there any way to change colours? I didn't see anything on the MixPod website. We had fun yesterday; we went to a local Provincial Park. I'll post about it later.
