Here it is.

One of my friends has a paint horse and she just had the cutest foal i've ever seen!  He's 9 days old today.  In these pictures he was 5 days old.  He's so frisky and playful.  He'll chase you around, and when one of their cats gets in the pen, he'll chase it around and try to play with it!  His name is Nate, and his mom's name is Peggy.  She got Peggy for Christmas last year and Peggy was pregnant when she got her.  For a while we weren't sure if she was pregnant or not, but as she got further along we knew she was.  So they moved Peggy out of the pasture and built a pen for her in their backyard.  Here are the pictures.

Hey!  Tuesday we got to take Dapple to the trainer!!!  He's gonna break her to ride.  I can't wait!  I'm sooo excited to be able to ride her!  When I get her back I get to take lessons from a professional riding instructor.  It's gonna be awesome!  The trainer said that Dapple is coming along really well, and that she's gonna be a great horse.  Right after I get her back I'm going to go on a trail ride.  It'll be good for Dapple especially since I will have just gotten her back.  I'll post about that when it  happens, and about Dapple's progress. 

Well, Frosty bucked me off again.  We were taking pictures of him and when I started to lope him, he just took off and I couldn't slow him down.   Thankfully I didn't get hurt really bad this time.  I did bruise up my shoulder though.  So, I definitly have to sell him now.

Well, it's another day of school...  It's going ok for me I guess.  I'm still trying to get a routine worked out so it'll go more smoothly.  I still have English, Math, and History to do.  I don't really "like" any of those subjects, but it's not too bad this year. 

Oh yea, I got an e-mail from someone interested in Frosty!  She wants me to send more pictures of him under saddle.  So I hope she buys him.  I'll be sad to see him go though.

Hi!  Sorry I haven't blogged in soooo long.  It's been a crazy summer!  In the county fair this year I showed a steer, a heifer, 2 horses, a pig, and I showed my dog for the first time.  I had a really good fair.  I got Grand Champion with my steer, and 1st in my class with my heifer.  With my hog I got 2nd.  With my Horses I got 2nd in my showmanship class with Dapple, 1st in my Western Horsemanships class with Frosty (i'll tell you about him in a minute) and first in my barrels class with Frosty, I did trail but we didn't do good in that, and in flags we broke the pattern.  It was my first year showing so I did all novice classes.  Then at the State Fair I took my steer, my heifer, and a hog.  I didn't do too well with my hog, and with my steer I got 2nd in my carcass class on foot, and 3rd in the big show.  And with my heifer, I got first in the junior show and first in the open show. 

I got a new horse in march.  Frosty.  He's a Buckskin Quarter Horse Gelding.  He was supposed to be the best horse ever but 2 days after I got him, he bucked me off.  And then he did it again, and then he bucked my mom off!  And then he bucked me off twice more.  The last time he bucked it was like rodeo bronc buckin and I hurt my neck and my back really bad.  So I have to sell him  I'll miss him alot.  He was a great horse except when he bucked.  I showed him at the fair and rode him in drill team and he did awesome!  Except on the first night of practice, he bucked but after that he did great at drill team.  Oh well...  I'm getting Dapple trained though!!!  I can't wait to be able to ride her!!  I'd do it myself but i'm not experienced enough.  I can't wait to ride her!  She's gonna be the best horse ever!  I've had her for 2 years so we've had time bond, and she trusts me and I trust her.  She's gonna be great!  Well, i've put some pictures of  Frosty and Dapple on.  I'll lable them and the other ones so you know what they are.

Hey!!!  Sorry I haven't blogged in soooo long!!!!  It's hard to find the time!  The puppies are sooo cute and have grown a lot!!!  They each have their own personalities and it's so fun to watch them play!  My puppy (well she's not mine but she's the one I like best) is sweet and shy but at the same time playful and loving.  She's so adorable it's going to be hard to give her away!!!   It's fun to watch them grow up.  I'm going to get puppies out of my dog Bailee hopefully sometime this fall.  I can't wait, corgis are the most adorable puppies (and dogs) I've ever seen!!!  They're going to be sooo fun to raise!

I found this recipe on one of the electronic horse newsletters I get through e-mail.  I haven't tried it yet so I hope it will be good!!!

Horsey Treat Recipe

Horse Muffins

1 whole apple, finely chopped
1/4 cup water
2 carrots, finely chopped
1/8 cup maple syrup or regular syrup
      (if using regular syrup, use a little less)
1 cup cooking oats

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl (the mixture should be sticky but not very sticky)
Use a muffin or "cupcake" pan and grease it (flouring it is better for the horses) and put about 1½ spoons of the mixture in each compartment.  Spread evenly and pack down.  Bake for about 10 minutes at 425^o.  Turn off oven and leave treats in oven.  Do not take treats out of the oven until the oven is completely cool or they will get mushy!

My 10 year old brother's dog was due to have puppies today, so he went out to check on her this morning, and sure enough she had 8 puppies.  Three of them died from the cold so we really only have 5.  She had them in her dog house and it was really COLD!  So we moved her and her puppies into the garage and put a heat lamp on them.  The mother dog's name is Sara.  She is a purebred Yellow Lab.  She was bred by a purebred Collie.  My brother was really upset when we found out she was pregnant, because he really wanted to get a purebred litter out of her.  Oh Well......   Anyway, the puppies are sooo cute!!!  I picked out the one I like the best.  It's brown with black spots.  We also have a couple black ones.  We aren't sure how we got black ones though.  We think a black dog bred her as well as the collie.  Or the black could come from the collie.  He has a little bit of black in him.  I'm posting some pictures of Sara and her puppies.

Yesterday afternoon I went out to groom and spend time with my horse.  She was doing really well, so I decided to go ahead and put the bridle on her.  She did way better than I expected her to.  I was so proud of her!!!  I slipped it over her head and she didn't jerk, and then I put the bit in her mouth, and she took it really well.  I was so excited!  I have saddled her up before and had my mom or dad lead her, but this was the first time for her to have a bridle on! She didn't have a saddle on at the time.  I was going to go with my mom and dad today, saddle her up, put the bridle on her and ride her, but the weather surprised us with freezing rain!   I was so mad!  So as soon as it dries up again I will go out and ride her.  Well, that's all for now!

When I went out to feed and groom my horse, my mom came along and took some pictures.  It was really muddy because we had  gotten about 2-3 inches of snow, and the snow had just melted.  The snow was fun to play in, and I hoped it would stay longer, but the snow was only on the ground for about 4 days.  Our little pond froze and we (me, my brothers, and my cousin), got to skate on it.  We also went down to our big pond and skated.  We were being really careful when we skated though, because when we were skating, it was 46 degrees and sunny outside!  We think the pond had been frozen for a while, but I have a clear view of the little pond out my window, and half of the pond was glossy, clear ice, and it looked like water out my window so we thought it wasn't frozen!!!!  

Today me and my mom made Sledding Teddies.  They were so fun to make!!!  It was our first time making them.

Mom made the dough last night so it could chill overnight, and it took us all morning to make them!  It was worth it though.  They are sooo good!!!

I'm so excited about starting a new blog!!  My name is Kayla and I'm 12 years old.  I love horses and I have one Palomino Quarter Horse.  She's 2 years old.  She is very sweet and I'm still working on training her to ride.  So far she's doing pretty good.  I haven't put a bridle on her yet though.  I homeschool and love it.  My favorite subject is reading.  I am the oldest of 4.  I have 3 brothers ages 10, 4, and 20 months old.  I have a corgi named Bailee and she is very sweet.  I also have a rabbit who is pregnant and is due on Christmas day!!  Well that's about it for now.  I'll be posting more...
