Waiting....

Hello all! I decided to do a more serious post this time! Hopefully it doesn't bore anyone :).
As most of you know, I don't date, but am instead waiting for my future guy, and trusting the Lord to bring him to me! Many are confused as to why I have chosen this wonderful yet sometimes difficult path. In a world where dating is looked upon as one of the most cool and awesome things you could ever do, I'm taking a stand against it.

Yeah, many think I'm strange and weird, but my heart will stay whole for the one I will one day cherish. Why date when either you're going to break up with him or vice-versa? Your giving your heart away to someone who more than likely will end up breaking it.

When I state that this path is sometimes difficult, I'm not lying in any way! I can't tell you how many times I have lain in my bed crying out of discouragment! Yet, God is always faithful, and He never fails to bring me encouragement from somewhere. Whether it be a verse, or a person, or perhaps just a picture in my mind (I have a very vivid imagination). I'm writing this as an encouragement to all of you who read my blog and are waiting. Whether you be girl or guy, always know, there are others going down this narrow path. May we all be an encouragement to each other!

Okay girls, I know, being a girl myself, that most of you probably dream of your wedding day and the man you'll marry! The colors, the bridesmaids, the type of wedding dress, who your going to invite, the flowers, what he's going to be like, and the list goes on... :) Dreaming of that lovely day and of him is completely natural! But! I must prewarn, do not become obssessive with it to where it fills your every thought! I have made the mistake of dreaming of my future life too much, and God showed me that living in the future makes you become discontented about the present! He has also revealed to me that not only should we stay physically pure, but also menatally. If you are thinking and dreaming of what you think marriage will be like, your poor future husband will never be able to live up to your expectations! We should instead, during these wonderful years of singleness, be developing a relationship with Jesus, our true Knight in shining armor!

BarlowGirl's song Average Girl talks about not being the average girl of this world, but instead to be like Sleeping Beauty, and to wait!

I know that at least most of you have seen Sleeping Beauty :)! oh, such a sweet movie! And I love it even more if I think of myself sleeping until my prince comes to take me as his own! In the Bible it says:

Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. Song of Solomon 4:5b

Another special thing that I have chosen to wait for is my first kiss. Your first kiss is so special, and should be cherished and treasured! I'm saving my first kiss for my wedding day! Oh so romantic, don't you think?!I pray for our generation. That we would stand strongly for what we believe, and that others would see Christ living through us! I encourage each of you to wait, and also to pray for your future spouse. It's not only encouraging to pray for them, but you also don't know what he/she could be going through. I know that they would greatly appreciate you praying for them!

I pray and hope that this post has encouraged you! May we trust our loving and amazing Lord to bring us our future spouse, may we encourage others to wait, and may we stay faithful to our future love all the days of our lives!

Happy Birthday to....ME!!!

(I wrote this a few days ago, so my dad's bday was actually on Monday)
So my 18th birthday was Sunday and I had a grand time! We went to church and came home to relax. After, I must admit, a somewhat boring afternoon, we got the house ready and made dinner and dessert for that evening! My grandparents came over to celebrate, and I'll repeat, I had a grand time!! For dinner, it's tradition for me to choose what I would most enjoy, so I chose homeade lasagne with a yummy salad! For dessert I made the La Madeline Berry Tart (oh so scrumptious!)! I'll share the recipe with you! No, it's not organic, nor is it very healthy, but after all, it was my day!

Today is my dad's birthday! So we had a splendid time with him!

La Madeleine Restaurant Mixed Berry Tart

Almond Tart Dough:
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
2/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup almond meal (1/2 cup sliced almonds and 1 Tablespoon confectioners' sugar, finely ground)

Filling:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups milk
3 Tablespoons cornstarch
4 egg yolks
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
1 (9-inch) Almond Tart Shell (see recipe)
1 pint fresh rasberries
1 pint fresh blueberries
1 cup red currant jelly
(we leave out the jelly and just do mixed fruit such as strawberries, peaches, bananas, blueberries, etc.)

Shell:
Combine butter, sugar, egg, salt and vanilla until blended.
Sift the flour and mix with almond meal. Add to the butter mixture. Do not over-mix; stop when dough is well combined. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill overnight or at least 2 hours before use.
Divide the dough in half. Roll out 1/2 at a time on a well floured surface to desired size. Place the dough on a well greased tart pan, prick the bottom of the shell. Bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Filling:
Mix 1/4 sugar to the milk in a sauce pan, bring to boil stirring occasionally. In separate mixing bowl, combine remaining sugar with cornstarch and egg yolks, mix well with a whisk. Once the milk is boiling pour 1/4 of the milk into the egg mixture to temper, stirring constantly. Pour the egg mixture into the rest of the milk and return to the heat, stirring until the cream thickens and comes to a complete boil. Remove from the heat, add the butter and vanilla, stir until the butter completely melts.
Pour the cream into a shallow bowl, cover with plastic wrap and cool to room temperature. If not using immediately, store in airtight container in refrgerator.
Spread the cold cream into the bottom of tart shell and cover with berries, arranged in concentric circles.
Melt the red currant jelly over medium heat. When liquefied, carefully brush over fruit using pastry brush.
Serve immediatly.
Serves: 8
I promise pictures soon!

Don't Panic It's Organic

I've been doing this on my other blog and I people seem to be enjoying it! I eat organically and naturally, so I wanted to share with people some recipes that are delish and healthy (at least for the most part :)   )!
BLUEBERRY CREAM MUFFINS

4 eggs
1 tsp. salt
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup coconut oil
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups sour cream(we use organic, or course)
4 cups flour (if you grind your own wheat like us, we enjoyed Soft White)
2 cups fresh blueberries

In a mixing bowl, beat eggs. Gradually add sugar. While beating, slowly pour in oil; add vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients; add alternately with the sour cream to the egg mixture. Gently fold in blueberries. Spoon into greased muffin tins. Bake 400 degress for 20 minutes.

Makes 24 muffins.

A very enjoyable weekend...

My weekend has been full of busy and fun! Our neighbor has asked Hannah and I to water their garden while they are out of town for the week, so I also have some pics of their lovely flowers!
The wind has been blowing with all it's great might, and, to our astonishment, knocked over our neighbors tree! Mom, Hannah, and I were outside when it happened. We heard something like a firecracker go off and payed no heed thinking it was some crazy kid. To our surprise, it was not :)!
Tonight, I enjoyed the company of many giggling, sugar-filled girls at Megan's house :)! She had a going away party since she will be depriving us all of her company (lol) while she is in England this summer. I met so many sweet girls, and had a most amusing time! I do so love a good party, and both Thursday and tonight were good ones! I have many pictures, so..."prepare yourself for something most dreadful!" (yes, I did just recently watch Pride and Prejudice!) :D

The tree was in the street, so the city had to come and chop it up:

The garden pictures:

All of us! Top:Anna, Megan, me, Elsie

Bottom:Lydia, Abbie, Megan, Hannah:

Abbie must of been sleepy :):

Lydia had a hilarious time aligning perfectly all of our shoulders :)! This was a fun one to do:

So that was my weekend! I do believe this is the longest post I have ever done :)

"...but a party with Miss Woodhouse, now that is a party!"

I am new to Homeschool Blogger, but am finding it most wonderful....well....actually, i'm having much difficulty with the pictures. But that'll come with time! :) I have a blog already with google www.jer2911-13.blogspot.com ,and found this (homechool blogger) I found through a friend! I'm excited with the prospect of meeting other homeschoolers!

We had a party today! I love good parties, and this, I can assure you, was a good one for it was my sister's! We went shopping (much to my joy) and had my grandparents over to enjoy grilled burgers, homeade fries, fruit salad, and a scrumptious Red Velvet cake! When my knowledge of how to add pictures expands, I will post them :). I really am quite dreadful when it comes to the computer, so thanks for the patience :)!

YAY! As you can see, my knowledge has expanded!

The scrumptious cake:

Me with my grandparents and sister:

I look somewhat....no very stiff :), and my papa looks like he's enjoying the cake a little too much :)!:
