Regina's Wonderful Life

• Tuesday, April 22, 2008
Hello

I really hadn't felt like updating my blog since my mother passed away and the whole disaster that happened after that. My mother is buried but not where she wanted and my father's body is still missing. I hope we can resolve this matter soon.

On a lighter note I'm writing a series of articles which I hope Keepers at Home magazine will publish. Keepers at Home is a conservative magazine that is published by Conservative Mennonites and I believe New Order Amish. I sent in my first article called  "Plain is Beautiful" and it's about godly beauty and not buying into the lie that we have to look like a model to be beautiful. I'm praying that the editors at Keepers at Home will print my article.

I also plan to write about the women's headcovering and share about how  and why I started wearing a headcovering. I hope to encourage other women who share these beliefs but are facing persecution from others who don't believe in such a thing.

Homeschooling is coming along good. I really like Rod and Staff and Lord willing it will be the curriculum I'll use through at least 9th grade and then will probably switch to Christian Light Education. I'm using their curriculum to teach myself to sew. So far all I've done for sewing is repair a few hems and helped the girls with sewing their doll clothes. They traced some patterns from the actual doll clothing so the fit is a bit off but who cares? They don't and the dolls aren't complaining.

I agree Rod and Staff has wonderful materials. I really like their English.

I look forward to your entries on the head coverings and stuff like that. I have been wondering about that topic for about the past year. I don't wear one right now and I asked my Sabbath School teacher at church about it and he said "I honestly don't know how to answer that question, maybe we're missing the boat on that one" His wife does not wear a head covering but she dresses very plai, with no make up or jewelry. I have read what it says in the Bible about it and am still unconvinced either way, so I look forward to what you have to say about it.

Blessings--Jess
