Common Scintse

I was going to scan this, but Alek's brain works way faster than his hand can transfer the information to paper. And since I'd have to translate anyway, I just figured I'd type it out. I'm leaving his spelling & everything as is.

Common Scintse by Alek Long
(and I was worried about Uncle Remus stories! Ha!)

If you've wondered how much money I have, I'll say,
Oh, lots of common cents,
Lots of common cents,
just the plain old common copper cents.

If you've wondered why I make non-sense, I'll say,
Oh, I've lots of common sense,
Lots of common sense
Just the good old, smart old common sense.

If you've wondered why I've had so many scents, I'll say,
Oh, I've got bottles of common scents,
Bottles of common scents,
Smelly old, good old common scents.

If you've wondered why I'm famous, I'll say,
Oh, I've been common since,
Very common since,
Very common since, oh yeah all that common scintse!

(I have to explain the "common scents" part- I have a few fragrance oil burners in my home and TONS of different bottles of yummy smelling fragrance oils) Maybe it's just cuz he's my son, but I thought this was pretty clever. He just whipped it right up one night.

This is really good - shows a great sense of humor. I hope your son writes more! About your last blog - my mouth dropped open when you said that Little House books have been banned in schools. When you read Little House books, you automatically understand the period they were written in, how ideas were different then. At least I did, even at a young age. Just amazing. Laura Ingalls Wilder left us a terrific legacy of all that happen during that period in America and now the schools have banned them. Terrific. Yes, what a blessing to homeschool! And I am considering your tag - I just did a tag by buffalorock so I think I should wait a bit before "revealing" anything else, especially something weird! Thanks for thinking of me!

Isn't it wonderful when they get the humor in homonyms! My girls love the Veggie Tale homonym song, but they don't get it yet! I can't wait until they watch it one of these days and really see why it is cute!
Also one of those pages that definitely goes in the portfolio! :)
