Lovely Easter Day
Our day started by dragging ourselves out of bed after only 5 or 6 hours of sleep. We got up, got everyone ready and headed to church. The girls were especially difficult to wake up as they did not fall asleep very early the night before. Apparently, Gracie decided to read all about the Easter story in her bible aloud to Millie. Do you punish a child for that when she should've been sleeping!? LOL! She recounted the entire story, from the Last Supper, to praying in the garden, Judas' betrayal to Jesus' death and resurrection. I decided to let it slide. ;)
Gracie did not receive my thick hair gene. She has very thin, pin-straight but beautiful blonde hair. I put the girls' hair in hot rollers and while Millie's stayed curly for a while, Gracie's started to go limp the moment we stepped out into the cold, humid air. I decided to snap a few shots of my children while they still looked freshly groomed, so while DH was loading up the van, I took them out in our yard to take some pics. My attempts were thwarted, however, by a two year old who thought it would be quite funny to hop like an Easter bunny while mom tried to photograph the group.
Here he is, entertaining his siblings with his incredible, bunny-like hopping ability:

And unfortunately, the best shot of the bunch:

And speaking of bunnies...
My in-laws went to church with us and our service was wonderful. All of my children sat with us and were very good during church. Yay! After the pastor and his son did a great Abraham and Isaac skit, the choir put on a cantata. It was very nice and we really enjoyed it. The only thing I really missed is they didn't involve children this year. Usually they at least have children parade around during some songs waving palm branches or something.
Anyway, back to rabbits....Did I ever mention how much of a girlie-girl Gracie is? She's all about pretty things and dressing fancy-schmancy and princesses. After church, we started on over to my folks' house for Easter dinner. On the way we passed a small farm where roosters and chickens and a beautiful BIG bunny rabbit were wandering about. Gracie noticed the bunny and said, "A rabbit! Mom, could we have..." and I'll pause there for a second and say that both DH & I thought the question was going to end with "could we have a rabbit?" But no. She shocked us with, "Mom, could we have rabbit stew for dinner sometime?" What?!?! Where did that come from, girlie-girl? You see a cute fluffy bunny and it makes you want to eat it for dinner?!!? Maybe all those Little House books?
I really wanted to take the children to the water and get some pics of them there, however, that was a half hour drive in the opposite direction of my parents house, so we stopped along the way at the Discovery Trail. After getting a coffee, of course. It's what we Pacific Northwesterners do on cold days when you've only had 5 hours of sleep. Our favorite little coffee shop gives Tootsie Rolls to the children passengers in your vehicle, and Josiah knows this. "Eee ow" (Tootsie Roll) But the thought of a chocolate covered face and possibly Easter clothes just before pics convinced me to make them wait until after pics till they got their Tootsie Rolls.
Josiah was not pleased with this decision and was still pouting by the time we got there. In fact, he retreated to his safe place, with thumb in mouth and hand in pants. All he wanted was his Ee Ow, sheesh.

As we were walking, Alek saw a snake slithering around in the grass. DH caught it and Miss Girlie-Girl (should I change her title?!) wanted to hold it.

A semi-decent pic of all 5:

The children were so excited to get to their Mima's house. My brother and his family are living there so that meant getting to see their three cousins! They were very hyper and spazzy. Here my older boys both think they're cute with their Popeye faces while my girls are posing ballerinas and the two year old, well, I don't know what this recent fascination is about putting his hands down his pants.

This photo better shows their energy level:

So we finally make it to my parents house and the children want to do the whole Easter egg hunt thing right away. We hid Resurrection Eggs along with the hard boiled and plastic candy-filled eggs in the yard and let 'em loose.

Our dinner was delicious! Ham, twice baked potatoes, green beans, baked bean casserole, rolls.... and then birthday cake for my grandma, who will be 89 on the 18th of this month!
Scarlett, my beautiful niece, really enjoyed her cake:

She really is beautiful. She was sitting on the bed in her sister's room, watching a movie and I just had to snap some pics of her (yes, it's a bit of an obsession.)

My parents put together Easter baskets for their grandchildren. They had all sorts of fun things in there, including bubbles!
Millie blowing her bubbles:

My little nephew Gage (2) with his bubble blower (I couldn't decide which one I liked better):

We all had a wonderful time. We got home pretty late last night and Sunday is the day I usually fill out my school schedule for the week. I did NOT feeling like doing that when we got home and here I've spent an hour blogging and I still have no school schedule. And it's Monday. A school day. What am I thinking?! Off to get busy. :) |

So glad you had a wonderful time with your family! Now I had better go to bed because tomorrow is a school day too! :) Blessings, Eva
P.S. I forgot to take a picture of my girls Sunday! We even dressed for the 7AM Sonrise Service! I will try to post one in a few Sundays when they were their dresses again! :)
