Friday Funnies
Our family has been praying for Megan, my husband's cousin's daughter. Megan was complaining of pain in her knee and was starting to get a bit of a fever and just not feeling well. Her mom took her to the doctor but was told it was a virus and was sent home. Her symptoms became worse and as soon as they figured out what was causing it, they airlifted her to a hospital over an hour from their home. It turns out she had MRSA (the bad staph infection that is resistant to usual antibiotics). I believe it was in her lungs, blood and it started out in her knee. She is SLOWLY getting better, improving every day. She was in a coma for a while, on a ventilator, blood pressure medications, etc. They were about to put a trach in her when they decided to give her a chance to breathe on her own, and she did it! She is only 12 or 13 and we have been praying hard for her. We're excited about her progress.
As Josiah prayed for her tonight with his eyes squished tight and hands pressed to his face, in all seriousness, he pleaded, "Please help Bacon to feel better...."
Don't worry, I think God knows who he meant.

Another thing the children have been praying for just about every chance they get is that we'll "get to keep this baby."
Let me back up a sec. Do any of you have any of the Your Story Hour CD's? If not, I'd HIGHLY recommend them. They'd make a great Christmas gift! ;) I get mine from an ebay seller named Joyful Home Resources (great prices/service). They're dramatizations of bible stories that sound like the old time radio shows. (they also have other stories about famous people, etc. too) They are very professionally done. At lunch we'll usually put one on, and try to listen to the bible story that we're reading about in school.
So we were listening to the story of Samson and I had already pushed play when Alek prayed over our lunch. He got to the part about keeping the baby, and as SOON as he said baby, baby Samson started crying on the CD. His eyes shot open and were as big as saucers! I swear, I think he thought God gave us the baby right then and there! We still laugh about that.

Would you like to know the name Gracie suggested for the baby if she's a girl? Ready? Rahab. If you're unfamiliar with Rahab, it's actually a really cool story. She's the lady that hid the 2 messengers Joshua sent when they went to spy out Jericho. She saved them from the king who had heard they were there and was searching for them. In return, the messengers promised to save Rahab and her family when Jericho was destroyed if she'd hang a red cord down from her window. Cool, huh? One problem- Rahah's occupation- she was a harlot. I kind of skipped over that part when I read it to the children. So nope, sorry Gracie, Rahab's out of the question! However, her story doesn't stop there. Rahab became a believer and was actually King David's great-great grandmother... which means........ she's in Christ's lineage! However, the name is still out.

I am REALLY REALLY bad at keeping secrets from my hubby. I've already given him two of his Christmas presents. Doh! He's not going to have much to open! One of his gifts was a GPS unit. He LOVES the silly thing! It was telling us how to get around town. At one point it told us to "Turn right here" twice and Josiah pipes up from the back and yells in his gruffest, meanest voice, "We ARE turning right!"
