(Not So) Wordless Wednesday: Sunset Walk

Very last minute, we decided to head to the beach for a walk. On the drive over, the setting sun was amazing. It was quickly sinking behind the mountains and there was a thick blanket of gray clouds (or perhaps fog) headed our way so the race was on. I love taking pics at sunset. It didn't stay light very long but here are a couple favorites from tonight's walk.

And I just have to show the "tossing the toddler" pics in succession. One of them is the first photo above, but not cropped. These are SOOC (or, "straight out of camera"- no editing at all):

It felt so good to get out of the house!

Alyssa,
What a beautiful evening! Those are very impressive SOOC pixs! What were you're settings? You MUST frame some of those and give them away as presents. Perhaps enter one into the fair this year?? You nailed em'!
From one photographer to another- I give you "props"!!!!!
God Bless! Sara in Maine (where the sunsets are just stating to get pretty again as Spring is setting in)

Hi! I love your gorgeous sunset silhouette pictures! Congratulations about Baby Girl AND passing the glucose tolerance test. I remember that with both of ours. I some how found you family slide show. What awesome photos of your gorgeous family.

It's such a lovely day here. Our daughter was out taking flower pictures. I think we need a better camera with higherr resolution. I'm glad she's starting to be interested in photography.

Marie

Beautiful photos and what a moment to capture with the "sunset throw." What type of camera do you use? Your photos are always so good.

Apr. 2, 2008 - Hey there.

thanks for stopping by. Kefir is
a probiotic, eight strands of probiotic in one ancient drink. Kefir can be dairy or water based, and the dairy based is sour like sour cream or yogurt and is great in smoothies. The water based has alcohol content, we don't use it here; but it is very healthy for you. You can make your own of each. I believe there is a yahoo group.

I love your photos. You did a great job capturing that moment. I love it!

Just beautiful. You must be a professional or very lucky to get such good shots of the sunset and the great silhouettes.

Girl,

All I can say is............WOW !!!!

Is this something you went to school for ? Or are you self taught. Either way you have a "eye" for photography. I just love what you have done !!!

I thought that was neat what you said about taking a double glance at my mountain pics. I am origianlly from Kirkland Wa. ( I think I told you that) And I got to see the Mt. Rainer from my the kitchen window growing up. I also got to see the Olympic Mountains all the time. I guess that has been God's grace moving away from the coast. I still get to see mountains. Thank you for giving me that insite. I just love mt's and oceans. [0=

Sending you blessings and ((hugs)) my SSiC

PS: I am glad you passed your test [0=

Wow Alyssa, those are beautiful! I saw a few people asking what settings you used. I'm curious too. I have a Nikon D50, but I've yet to master those SOOC shots like you got.

Those are award-winning shots!!

Seriously, you could make money with these pics. What a wonderful job! I'm also curious as to what settings you use. I have a Nikon D80, but I know SO LITTLE about it. I have the hardest time trying to get a quick shot taken (like you caught with the toddler throw pics) when the lighting is low. HELP! :) Please?? :)

Thanks so much, ladies!

Sara- I shot in manual, SS 1/160, f/4.5, ISO 800 with my 85mm lens. :)

Julie- thanks! :) We don't always have beautiful sunsets like those. But I definitely like to capture them when we do!

Janet- I have the Canon 40D.

ltjewel- Thank you for explaining that! I really need to be a little more adventurous with our diet.

Mary- You're TOO sweet! :) I pretty much learned on my own with the help of some great books, online tutorials and forums.

Leah- My best advice is to watch your shutter speed. Make sure it doesn't go below 1/100, especially if your subject is moving. Get more light to your camera by increasing the camera's ISO and opening up the aperture a little at a time.

Hope that helps!

Love, Alyssa
